  • HT201269 Transfered music from CDs to iTunes

Now that I have upgraded the operating system, all the CDs that I had burned into iTunes are not visible.  Are they gone?  And if not, where are they?

This question is one that crops up a lot on these forums and has been a major source of complaint for as long as the iPod has been in existence.
Currently the only way to eliminate the gap between songs is to import the cd as one track. You do this by using the “join cd tracks” option in the advanced menu of iTunes.
Make sure the tracks are in their correct order, and highlight those you wish to join.
No gaps, but the downside is that you will of course lose the ability to navigate between tracks, and the song info is also lost. The iPod will display the cd title in the song field in the “now playing” screen . You’ll also have one large file instead of a number of smaller ones.
If you would like to see gapless playback implemented to the iPod, add your voice to the many here.

    Hey lightc,
If you are having an issue with iTunes not recognizing your iPad and iPod on your Windows computer, I would suggest that you troubleshoot using the steps in this article -

  • Im trying to transfer music from my computer itunes to my iphone

Im trying to transfer music from my computer itunes to my iphone and ipod touch. i enabled home sharing but still cant figure it out.

Homesharing has nothing to do with syncing content to devices.
Connect the device to the computer.
Select the content desired to sync.
    Then sync.
This is covered in the User's Guide, might be a good idea to read it.

  • When I download from iTunes to my new iPod nano, can I select only the one folder I have made for download -- do not want my whole music library to be synched.

Am I able to download only a selected music folder I have created in iTunes to my new iPod nano?  I do not want to download my whole music library.  Want to know before whole site sync starts up automatically.

What you CAN do is create a playlist in iTunes containing all the content you wish to be synced to your Nano.  Then configure your Nano to sync only that one playlist from under the iPod's Music configuration tab in iTunes.

  • Transferring music from old computer using ipod

I recently transferred music from my old computer to my new computer using my ipod by following the directions in apple support (article 300173.) I already had music in itunes on my new computer when I added the music from my old computer. Now all the music that I had loaded prior to the transfer comes up with a message "original file could not be found." Have I lost this music for good?
    MacBook Mac OS X (10.4.9)
    MacBook   Mac OS X (10.4.9)

If you dragged the file called 'iTunes' in to the music folder in the finder and it asked 'do you wish to overite' then it has probably overwritten the folder tha t already existed
    (with the new music in).
If you haven't emptied you trash it might be in there, but don't click retore the trash just drag the folder onto the desktop.
    Hope this helps.

  • Transfering music from my computer in NY to my computer in Florida

Is there any way to transfer music from my computer in NY to my computer in Florida?

    Here's 2 ideas:
    1) Buy an external hard drive and move all the NY files to it, and ship/take the exHD Florida
If you want to have the same library and everything, consolidate it onto the exHD using these directions and don't forget to take the iTUnes LIbrary.ITL file as well.
    2) Use an online file storage service. Just google +online music storage+ and start researching hte one that seems to fit your needs & budget.
Upload the NY files to the service , and download the files in Florida.
If your library is large, idea 1 takes the least amount of time. I gave up on the online storage thing....my library is too big. It was taking WEEKS to upload all the songs.

  • Trouble transfering music from old computer to Mac

I just tried to transfer all of my music from my old PC to my new Macbook using my iPod. I followed all of the directions the tutorial had and it didn't work. Help anyone please??

There is a good general guide to switching from Windows to Mac at the following link that touches on moving music as well: How to Move to a Mac - Get your stuff from your PC to your new Mac
    There are also these guides:
iTunes for Mac: How to copy purchases between authorized computers
iTunes for Windows: How to copy purchases between authorized computers
    Networking with a Windows PC
Don't forget by the way if you have purchased any tracks from the iTunes Music Store to deauthorise your old PC if you are disposing of it so you don't use up your 5 allowances: About iTunes Music Store Authorisation and Deauthorisation

There's a long article about that problem:

You have to go step by step, starting with: does Windows recognize the iPod?

  • Transferring music from home computer to work computer on itunes

can i transfer music from my home computer to my work computer using an external hard drive?

yes, if you want your whole library, look up where it is located under edit / preferences then under advanced, then copy that folder in windows explorer to the external then move it onto your work computer or if you want you can use you the external on your work by the same edit / preferences and clicking CHANGE... to tell if to look for the external drive.

  • Transferring music from iPhone to iTunes on new computer

The hard drive on my daughter's new Mac Book Pro failed.  No backup (don't say it). The Apple Store replaced it.  All of her music is on her iPhone 4.  Is there a way to get all the music on her iPhone (including songs not bought on iTunes) into iTunes on the new hard drive on her Mac Book Pro?  Is iTunes Match a possible solution? Thanks for any help.

I found this program "Phone to Mac" http://www.macroplant.com/phonetomac/ which sounds perfect.  Has anyone tried it?

  • Using iPod as mass storage device/transferring music from 1 computer to another.

Hi there I was following the steps provided by apple on how to use my ipod to transfer all my music from my old computers library to the one on my new computer.
I was up to the step of consolidating files but the error message "Copying Files Failed. The file name was invalid or too long" stops me from doing this process.
I have no idea what this means or how I can fix it, would anyonen please be able to help me with this problem so I can continue with the process?
Thankyou in advance for your help!

If the path to a file is too long for iTunes, you get this message. Unfortunately the limit of iTunes is less than allowed in Windows.
iTunes fix claims to be able to deal with this, but I haven't tried it myself:
    http://itunesfix.com/iTunes%20Fix.html
    http://itunesfix.com/iTunes%20Fix.html
(I am trying out two diffent ways of giving a link. Hopefully they will both point at the same place.)

  • Move itunes music from 1 computer to another and configuring ipod and iphone to it?

I have an ipod and an iphone with all my configured music on itunes on an old PC
I have a macbook pro with lots of music in itunes on my new Macbook Pro
I want to move all my music from the 2 different itunes/computers to 1 single itunes on a new pc and configure my iphone and ipod to it as well
How do I go about doing it without having to pay £30 or however much it is to do it?
    Regards,
    Matt Cooper

Copy all of your content from your two computers onto the one computer you want your new merged library to be on. To do this, go to ~/Music/iTunes and copy that entire folder to an external drive such as a hard drive. Repeat for your other computer. Then go to the merged library computer and connect your external drive. In iTunes, go to File > Add to Library and select all the content.
Then just sync your devices. iTunes will have to erase all of the content on your devices and then replace it with the content on the computer you are syncing the device with, but since all of your content will be on that computer, it won't make a difference.
