HT201269 why can't i transfer my music from my iphone4s to my iphone5s?

i have my iphone 5s plugged into my mac and everytime i try to sync my library with the 5s it tells me that my computer is not authorized to transferred my purchased songs from itunes. it then tells me to go to store>authorize this computer, I do that and I get a message that says this computer is already authorized but then it still wont sync my music to my new phone.  I'm so confused and frustrated. Can anyone shed some light on this?

Is iTunes on your computer signed into the same iTunes Store account as your iPhone 5s, and the same account as the music purchased on the iPhone 4s?

  • HT1473 Why can't I transfer my music from  my iphone to my iMac mini? Or vice versa?

I have two Apple products, the Mac Mini and an Iphone.  But, I can't transfer the music from my mac mini to my iphone (and vice versa) using ITunes, without losing my songs on my iphone.  I really want to add the new songs on my Mac mini to my iphone (I used to sync to a PC that doesn't work anymore).  Can anyone hlep me figure out what to do?

So heres the problem, once you sync your iphone with a computer it only lets you get music from that computer and vice versa for security reasons. Otherwise, you could just download music from everyone's computers and no one would even have a reason to buy music anymore, causing huge problems for the music industry. If you bought all of your songs from Itunes though, you can download those to your mac mini and then resync your Iphone with that pretty simply. If you need help with that, just comment, and we should be able to help you.:)

  • I have a macbook pro, and my hard disc currently crashed. I lost everything on my computer, but luckily I have an iPod nano with all my music saved on it. How can I now transfer my music from my ipod to my mac?

I have a macbook pro, and the hard disc recently crashed. I lost everthing, but luckily i have my music saved on my ipod nano. How can I now transfer my music from my nano to my mac for free?

    Hi there ovadia!
You can transfer the music purchased by your iTunes account from your iPod nano to your MacBook Pro by following the steps outlined in this article:

So after I get my music put on my computer, then moved to my ipod, do I have to delete music from itunes  to free up space?
    Not a good idea.
What you could do, is have the Library content on the external hard drive and simply tell your iTunes programme to look on the hard drive for your music etc.. However, once you set that up, that hard drive needs to be connected and ready to read, before you start the iTunes programme. If it isn't ready, iTunes will simply go back to the default location for the music, find nothing and then you'll be back here saying that you've lost your Library.

Why can't I transfer rented movies from my iPad to my Mac? This is absolutely senseless and annoying! I rented the movie and  should be able to watch it wherever I decide to!! A bit more concern for your clients, please...

I now have 3000 songs on my ipad and as i have lost my old itunes library my new one has nothing on. ive been trying for some time now to transfer my music from my ipad to my itunes library with out loosing anything. i do not want to loose all my music as it will take absoloutly ages to put them all on my ipad again. IF YOU HAD A HEART YOU WOULD HELP

It has always been very basic to always maintain a backup copy of your computer for just this reason.
Use your backup copy to put everything back.
The music sync is one way - computer to ipad.  The only exception is itunes purchases:  File>Transfer Purchases

  • Why can't I transfer my iTunes from my old laptop to new?  Only way seems to sync iPod to new laptop and wipe out all the stored stuff!

Why can't I transfer my purchased downloads from iTunes from my old laptop to new?  The only option seems to be sync my iPod to the new playlist, and sacrifycing everything that's already stored on it.

I loaded all my cd's onto my MacBook iTunes library and then synched with my ipod. now i want to transfer that music from my iPod to my iMac. I deauthorized all the other computers and authorized the iMac but it will only upload the songs purchased on iTunes. What must I do to get my music onto the IMaC??

There are third-party programs like those discussed here that can transfer non-iTunes purchased music to a computer.

  • Why can't I transfer my music to a playlist?

After I purchase music from Itunes I look for it in my Purchased folder. I then attempt tp click on it to transfer it to a playlist. I click and get NO green circle with the whit plus mark. It will not select no matter where I click. This not only happens on purchased material but other playlists and the over all library as well. I can however find the music in my MUSIC folder in the finder, copy it to my desktop and then insert it into said playlist. Not a fun operation where everything was working well before hand. I did upgrade to the newest Itunes recently and am operating the most up to date Mac OSX short of upgradiing to Lion. Any ideas?

Oh, and the computer is authorized.

  • Why can't I transfer files (music or ebooks) through iTunes to my iPhone? It's a new laptop but its authorized.

I got rid of my old computer (too slow) and bought a new laptop. I have iTunes on my laptop but my phone doesn't let me transfer files to it. Help, please.

It's impossible to restore anything from a device, unless it was purchased on iTunes.
You must MUST MUST keep a backup of your library.
To restore any purchases, go to the iTunes Store and click on "Purchases", which will let you download Music, Apps, and Books that were bought through iTunes. Unfortunately, anything that wasn't can't be transferred.
iTunes will sync back purchased music from the iPhone when you plug it in.

  • HT201272 Why can't I download my music from iTunes onto my ipod?

I got a new laptop computer, downloaded iTunes on it and retrieved my music from my old computer into this iTunes.  However, now I cannot download new music or any music for that matter onto my iPod nano.  I can sync music from my iPod to my computer but not the other way around.  Even re-registered my iPod again, but this does not seem to matter.  What am I doing wrong?  Never had this problem before.  My computer has Windows 8 if that makes a difference.

  • Why can't I back up music from my iPhone or iPod to my iTunes?

Happy with my iPhone 4s so far, no battery issue's and an excellent phone but there is one thing I dislike with a passion.
I own more than one computer, I have desktops, laptops and netbooks and I have music I have purchased or recorded from vinyl or backed up from CD on different machines. I want to place this music and videos onto my iPhone to enjoy but when I try to get iTunes to sync it tells me it will delete the music currently on my iPhone for the new playlist? This is ********!
For example if I were to go through the lengthy process of backing up all of my music from my various computers and collections to only one PC and then making a huge playlist just for my iPhone, then my main PC breaks and dies, my only option would be to either never add more music to my iPhone or lose all of the music on my iPhone? And please don't come back with purchases from iTunes will be available, my music collection and everybody else's is much greater than an iTunes collection.
This is the dumbest feature of the iPhone in my opinion and makes functionality a pain.
Is there a work around for this problem? or do you just have to accept you lose everything in the event of a stolen computer or hard disk failure?

Put all your music in one computer liberary, network the computers to use this shared resource so that you can add and remove music from any computer on your network. You are then saving space across all your computers and will be able to keep your music archive well organized.
Back up your music on an external hard drive, USB drive, backup drive or cloud storage just like you would anything else you don't want to lose. Having the music on various computers isn't more safe than having it on one computer. If you have it on one computer and it crashes you lose everything its true, but if you have it on multiple computers you will only lose part of your library but the chances of something going wrong are now upped because you're working with 4 computers. Its good to back everything up anyways.
Sync phone with one computer that has all the networked music in its library. Live long, prosper, grow in the force, etc.
