i noticed i dont get the carrier update after reinstalling
is any way i can do that manualy ???
i whent to apple and they got no ide what so ever , they gave me a new iphone and the same thing hapen i tryed everything , DFU, changed the sim , reinstall as new and as old , 2 laptops and 1 pc nothing works
i got another iphone 3 everything works fine there
im trying to see if i can get this update my self but this version of itunes doesnt recognise the IPCC file
i got the update on my laptop from the other phone they both on o2uk

I'm not sure if this is an issue with the iPhone or iTunes, but after the recent iTunes update, there is a prompt "Update carrier settings" which always pops out even though I already installed it and sync'ed my phone.
This is being discussed at Apple Support Communities -- iTunes 10.5.1.42 Bug - Repeated Update Carrier Settings Prompts on syncing with iTunes and on Whirlpool. It seems it particularly relates to Optus and Virgin Mobile. There is no fix yet.

I received a notification to update carrier settings on my iPhone 5. But I am not able to find the benefits of updating my iOS with this new update.
Carrier updates are sometimes issued to reslove issues the phone may be experiencing. Why don't you contact your carrier and ask what this update is all about.

It means just what it says. Carrier settings are the settings the carrier installs on the phone to connect it properly to their network. Periodically, carriers push updates to those settings. You should accept them.

I synced my phone over the weekend and got a message about "update carrier settings" which I believe relates to cell service interface.
Searching the forum here, there seems to be a number of posts about this starting early Feb on the East coast, and including Australia and parts of Europe; none seemed to have any concrete resolution. Some posts say performance is much worse after, some say much better. I'm in Southern California, could be something AT&T didn't roll out there till recently?
Since updating mine, I get "No Service" in places where things used to be fine, like my home, and side by side with my AT&T 3G Blackberry (from my employer - I wouldn't choose that beast) the iPhone may show 2-3 bars less signal than the crack-berry. Not scientific, I know, but if the 'berry only has 2, the iPhone is dead in the water.
Anyone else in SoCal seeing this? Any tips on what to do about my perceived problem?
Thanks!Well, pragmatically, the update correlated to service problems, but after 2 hard resets, phone service seems to be back to its usual well-behaved self, if not even better than before. Could be coincidence, could be the installer didn't clean up after itself, but all is good now.

iTunes sends me to website after asking me to download newest iTunes verision. If I download newest version from website it replaces my old version completely including my songs and playlists. How do I update my version of iTunes without replacing it?
Don't worry, new installation will still keep your playlist and library.

Nike+ forced me to change my password to one which had a capital, lower case and number in it ... all very well BUT iTunes can now not link my iPod runs to the Nike+ website as the passwords are different. How do I update the password in iTunes? I have tried unchecking the "sync" option and checking it again but can see no option to update email and / or password.
Did you go on-line and fix your billing information? You probably need to do this from iTunes on your computer, not your phone.
If you've double checked your credit card info and it still won't take it, contact your card issuer. -

Your iPhone should be displayed top right when it is plugged in to your computer.
Select your iPhone and you'll see in there there is the option to update. -

I get this message every day. How can it need to update the settings every single day? It is weird. Ive been getting this for 2 weeks now.

Well I've been on to Apple Support again and they say that since I did a factory restore I'd have a virgin copy of the iOS so it can't be a problem with that. I asked about there being a bug in the iOS but he wouldn't hear of this - no one else seems to have complained to Apple about this but I did mention this Discussion Group. All he could suggest is that I try another computer, to do a factory restore again there and then come back to the Mac!
I do have a WIndows XP virtual machine and am trying that just now, to see if this gets rid of the problem, and I'll report back. However it's not everyone that would have the facility to go down this route! -
How to update carrier settings?
I'm needing some help. I'm using my wife's 3GS 6.1.6 it was a AT&T phone but I'm using it on Straight Talks network. My issue is I seen a lot of videos on YouTube where when the user inserts the activated SIM card into the phone the carrier name changes to HOME. Well mine don't before the phone got switched I updated its AT&T carrier settings. Now with the Straight Talk sim the carrier text still says AT&T. How can I fix this issue without restoring?
It cannot be "factory unlocked" but it can be officially unlocked by AT&T if you meet their requirements for unlocking.
There is nothing else that can be done. If the device is carrier locked to one carrier, it will never get carrier updates for another carrier.
