HT201270 I want to sync my iPhone 4S with my MacBook Air, seems simple enough...

I am having trouble syncing my iPhone 4S with my MacBook Air. I thought all I had to do was connect my USB cable to the iPhone and to my lapatop and voila, it wound sync, but I guess not. Any ideas?

I didn't get any message, that was what surprised me. However I went to turn off my computer and I received a message saying it was syncing and that it would stop if I turned off my computer. I had lauched iTunes, shouldn't I have seen some messge? I thought I would see the iPhone on the desktop too. Thanks for your help.

I can't perform a wi-fi sync with my iphone and my macbook air. Itunes is still recognizing my old computer and says it will sync when my old computer is available.

Try plugging your iPhone into your new MacBook Air using the USB cable for the first sync.

  • I cannot sync my iPhone 5s with my Mac Air.

I cannot sync my iPhone 5s with my Mac Air.
I have been able to do so the past and with the recent upgrades I am unable to do so now.
I went to iTunes as usual to the  iPhone option on the right and the iCal sync option is no longer available. They Apple leave this out accidentally with the new upgrades. I hope they add it back really soon. I rely on this sync. I have appointment that I cannot overlap.

The ability to sync your iPhone using iTunes has been removed in Mavericks. You are expected to use iCloud, which will give you the same syncing functionality and will happen automatically without your having to plug it in.

  • HT4847 iTunes said that if i want to sync my iPhone to my new macbook that it will delete everything. Will iCloud still keep my stuff?

I just got a new macbook and i want to sync my iphone to it but when i do that itunes tells me that it will delete my everything because im already hooked up to my desktop. I googled a way to transfer my itunes over by using a flashdrive but my desktop broke down. i was wondering if it really will delete everything. if so is this there where icloud comes to my recue?

Welcome to the Apple Community Kate.
It will only delete your synced content, which you can then resync, it won't affect your iCloud data.

  • I cannot sync my iPhone 4s with iTunes (MacBook Pro OS X 10.5.8)

Whenever I attempt to connect my iPhone 4s to my MacBook Pro to sync and transfer music I receive the following error message:  "The iPhone cannot be used because it requires iTunes version 11.1 or later.  Go to www.itunes.com to download the latest version of iTunes."
I tried downloading latest version of iTunes but when I went to install, received error message that I needed OS X 10.6 or later.  Subsequently, I just purchased OS X Snow Leopard 10.6.  Once I upgrade to that OS, will I be able to software upgrade to the appropriate versions of OS X and iTunes so that I can sync my iPhone 4s with my iTunes on MacBook running OS X 10.6.?

    Yes.

  • I only want to sync my iphone contacts with my pc, not the other way around

HELP!! This thing is driving me crazy! I dont want to sync everything from the pc to the iphone, just what I have on the iphone to the pc to make those contacts and calendar entries safe in case the dreaded happens.
Is there a way to do this? I have begun my 60day free trial of MoblieMe today and cannot seem to do this at all. I have found my Windows Contacts and I think I can enter people in there, but whats the point of that if I have to do all the work? Surely the point of syncing is that it will do it for me???
Does anyone know if it can be done from iphone to pc??
    Many thanks
    Catherine

The sync process for contact info and calendar events is a bidirectional or true sync process. You can't transfer only contact info and calendar events available on your iPhone only to the supported application on your computer. Contact info and calendar events available in the supported address book and calendar app on your computer and contact info and calendar events available on your iPhone will be synced so the info available on both is identical.
If you have a MM account, you need to sync the supported address book on your computer with your MM online address book first. After confirming your MM online address book matches the supported address book on your computer, follow this by enabling over the air syncing for contact info with your MM account on your iPhone. This will erase all existing contact info on your iPhone and replace it with your MM online address book info, and the same for calendar events.
If you have contact info available on your iPhone that is not available with the supported address book on your computer, you need to sync your iPhone's address book with the supported address book on your computer via the iTunes sync process first. Follow this by syncing the supported address book on your computer with your MM online address book. After confirming the supported address book on your computer matches your MM online address book, enable over the air syncing for contact info with your MM account on your iPhone. After this, your iPhone's address book will be kept synchronized with your MM online address book which is kept synchronized with the supported address book on your computer and vice-versa.

  • Want to sync my iPhone Calendar with my iCloud

    Hi
I want to sync my calendars into one rather than having loads of different ones on my Mac and iPhone.
On my iPhone there are 2 different calendars, 1 says 'From my Mac', and another is iCloud. On the Mac, I have just 1, which is called iCloud.
The iCloud calendars on my Mac and iPhone are different. On my iPhone, I selected to just show the iCloud calendar, and displays just 1 event (which I put in just now), and this synced with my Macbook. On my Macbook, the iCloud calendar shows the 1 event I just entered, and all of the entries in my phone from before January. In my iPhone, these Macbook iCloud entries before January are listed under the calendar 'From my Mac'.
The entries on my iPhone after January, are only in the 'From my Mac' calendar, so haven't synced with iCloud for some reason.
Is there a way I can sync the From my Mac entries into iCloud so that I can have just 1 calendar?
    Thanks

    Try this ...
On your iPhone, go to "Settings --> Mail, Contacts, Calendars --> Sync (under calendars, near the bottom of the list)".  Then select the "All Events" option.

  • Why do I lose some of my contacts when syncing my iPhone 4 with my MacBook Pro?

If I connect my iPhone 4 to my MacBook Pro using the lead a few of the contacts on my phone are wiped, but not on my MacBook.  Text messages etc are still on there but it just states the number it came from not the person's name.  Why does it do this?  Why does it only happen to a few numbers?  What do I do to stop it?!
    Many thanks.

i think is because when you snyc for the last time you doesnt save your informations on your computer and, for one reason your Macbook Pro dellect all the thing who was not saved.. (its happening to me and, the losted information never will be back.. i'm sorry..) :/

  • Someone stole my old mac and now I want to sync my iphone on my new macbook without losing my information

so I don't have any backup from my old macbook... what can I do? I don't wan't to lose my information from my iPhone 5s and I wan't to sync everything.

    Follow the directions here:

Note: If your new Mac is running Mavericks, you can no longer sync contacts/calendars locally. Your only choice will be iCloud.
