HT201272 Audiobook issues

Hello, purchased an audio book on my IPad, but it does not show in audiobook or purchased on my iPhone. How can I down load this onto my iPhone. I don't have this problem with purchased music.

You need to transfer it to your computer. File>Devies>Transfer Purchases.
You can then sync it to whatever idevice you like.

  • Strange audiobooks issue

I have a strange audiobook issue. For background, I'm running iTunes 7.1.1 on Windows Vista Business, and have a 30GB video iPod.
Ok. I bought the audiobook of "The Great Gatsby" from iTunes. It is in my iTunes as an audiobook, is checked to sync and everything. Also, when my iPod is plugged in, and you expand the little arrow over in the left hand (so you can see what's actually ON the iPod, as opposed to in iTunes) and click on the Audiobooks under the iPod, it shows up, all three parts of the book.
However, when I look on my actual iPod, scroll to Audiobooks on the device, it's not there. But it says it's there (over iTunes) when it's plugged in.
Another audiobook, one that has been on there forever, apparently syncs just fine.
    Anyone experience this?
(Please, for the love of Christ, don't anyone post on here and tell me that iTunes is not fully compatible with Vista. I know this. You know I know this.)

Ok, for anyone coming across this in the future.
I resolved this by changing up the way I was running the MovUser command a little bit.
Previously, I was using MoveUser with the -u option, it would migrate the mailboxes, as far as I could tell, successfully. Then I would update the mailhost ldap attribute myself.
I changed to using the -l option with an ldap url and -A to have MoveUser update ldap, and it seems to be working just fine.
Not sure why first command doesn't work though...

  • Audiobook Issues

Running IOS 7.0.4 on both iPhone 5 systems and OSX 10.9 (fully up to date) on my 2012 Macbook Pro.
My wife used her iPhone 5 to download a Dr. Sleep (Audiobook). I synced her phone to the computer and all that is showing up on the computer is Section 1 of Dr. Sleep, there should be 4 sections. Also, her phone now only has section 1. I put it onto my iPhone 5 and only have section 1 as well. On her phone and my comptuer going to the iTunes store and looking it up; her phone says downloaded and I don't have the option to re-dowload and the computer only gives me the option to Buy Again. My phone says the same as the computer "You have already purchased this, do you want to buy it again?" Why can't I download. It's obviously linked to my account.
Another Audiobook issue... my wife used her phone to purchase another Audiobook and it downloaded to her phone but I can't see it. Looking in the itunes store on her phone it says "downloaded". It's not showing up in the spotlight search and I can't find it anywhere in her phone. Tried to sync her phone to my computer and it didn't transfer over. Both computer and my iphone give me the option to buy again, I can't just re-download. I already hit the Check for purchases button on my computer and it says everything associated with my account is downloaded.
I've soft and hard reset both phones. I've searched both phones, and the computer thuroughly. I see the purchase of both Audiobooks under recent purchases and I have the receipts for both in my email. This is driving me up the wall. I tried calling Apple but they are closed. Maybe someone here can help faster.
Has anyone had this problem and found a solution? Thanks in advance!

Audiobooks are a one-time only download from the store, they won't appear in the Purchased links for redownloading.
Does she know whether the other parts of the audiobook downloaded on her phone, or are they in the Downloads tab in the iTunes store app on her phone still waiting to download ? If thy didn't download then try the 'report a problem' page to contact iTunes Support : http://reportaproblem.apple.com
If the 'report a problem' link doesn't work then you can try contacting iTunes support via this page : http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/contact/- click on Contact iTunes Store Support on the right-hand side of the page, then Purchases, Billing & Redemption
For the other audiobook, if you or your wife don't have a copy of it anywhere, then you can try the above contact link to contact Support and see if they will grant you a redownload

  • I'm an expert - still can't fix this Audiobook issue

This problem is killing me. I am an expert mac problem solver and have spent days resolving issues, never to be stumped. This I have been at for a week with no success. Props to anyone who can figure it out.
On my mac I have an audiobook in .m4a format. There are over a hundred files that combine to form the book. They load into my main iTunes library just fine. They play just fine. The problem arises when I select them all, hit "get info" and change the "media kind" to Audiobook. I do this so that they appear in the "Audiobooks" playlist and not with my music, obviously. It works, except for a handful of files from the middle of the book. iTunes makes these files into a second Audiobook with the same title, same author... same everything. So then what I have is two different Audiobooks (same title, same author, same cover art) one of which is the beginning and end of the book and the other which is just the middle. As you probably are aware, iTunes does not allow the user to edit Audiobooks by adding files, so I cannot combine them by simply dragging the files from one book to the other.
I have checked and rechecked the fact that all the files have identical information, i.e author, album, composer, media kind, equalizer preset, genre... everything. I did this to see if iTunes would combine them on its own once this info was the same. It did not. All the files are named properly (chapter 1.1, chapter 1.2 ...chapter 10.1 etc.), so I know they would all show up in order once placed together.
When I go into my iTunes music folder on my hard drive, the beginning/end of the book is listed in the correct place (Music/iTunes Music/Author/Book Title), whereas the middle of the book is listed by the same title under "Compliations" (Music/iTunes Music/Compilations/Book Title). In other words, in order to find the middle section of the book in the iTunes music folder, you would scroll down all the artists alphabetically until you got to "Compilations," and inside there would be the book title file containing the files that make up the middle of the book.
I have tried deleting and re-importing. I have tried physically moving the files from "Compilations" to their proper author's file then quitting and restarting iTunes, but this does nothing to combine the two Audiobooks into one single book. When I click on the files from the middle of the book to play them, the iTunes music folder undoes the work I just did, putting the files back into "Compilations" one by one as they are played.
Now I realize I could just leave the files in my main music library, organized by name, and they would all play in order. However, this should not have to be the case. I want my Audiobook in one piece, in the Audiobooks playlist so when I get to the middle of the book I wont have to open a second Audiobook (same title), play it, and then go back. Why the iTunes creators made Audiobooks so much less malleable than the other media I have no idea, but it aggravates me. Being able to click and drag would be an obviously simple fix to this problem.
If you or anyone you know has an idea for me, please do not hesitate to post. Thanks.

thanks 0Ari0, your suggestion of labeling all the files as part of a compilation worked. After I did this i changed the media kind to audiobook, and voila, one single book appeared in the Audiobooks submenu. The individual files aren't listed under their proper artist in the iTunes music folder, but I don't really care about that. I'm ok with having the book listed in Compilations as long as it's all in one piece.
    thank you

  • Audiobook issue

I have put an audiobook on my iPhone 4s that is 5hrs 08mins long. This audiobook plays perfectly on iTunes on my laptop and successfully transferred to my iPhone showing up as 5hrs 08mins. However, when I select the audiobook to play , the screen shows 5:08:00 momentarily then changes to 10:16 and begins playing. I thought the book might then be sectioned into chapters or something and checked the album display (top right hand side) but it just shows one object. When the audiobook reaches 10:16 it continues and has gone up as far as 45mins of play whilst the timer sits at "00:00 remaining" but if I try to fast forward to any time passed 10:16 it just stops as if the audiobook is complete at that point. This means if I lose my place or listen to something else I have no way of getting back to the point where I stopped. I've never encountered this before and cannot see a similar subject on the boards. Anyone else have this or able to offer any suggestions? Thanks in advance

    Hi.
Have you found out anything more on this issue?
I have 8 audio books (ripped to MP3, converted to M4B using MP3 to Ipod Audio book converter) and loaded into iTunes. Everything works perfectly in itunes but when 6 of the books are sync'ed to the phone either they have no audio at all or they stop at some point into the book. (The counter never stops, just the audio).
Just to add to the confusion - my test file works on an 8gb Ipod v.1.1.3, but fails on a 32 GB Iphone 3GS v.3.1.2 and fails too on a 16Gb IPhone 3G v.3.1.2.

  • New Audiobook Issue

    Hi all,
I've been having a problem recently with differnt audiobooks I have on my phone. The issue is that while the audiobook syncs to my phone and displays the length, when I get to the play screen it only acknowledges the first few minutes of it. For example, I am currently listening to a book that is 5:08:23 long. When I play it the playback only reads 10:16, and once it reaches the end of that time continue to play the book. Then when I pause and then start playing it again it jumps back to the 10:16 mark. I'm very confused as to why it is doing this. Any suggestions? I'm on version 7.1
    ~Mike

I had the same problem with a recent audiobook. Plays in iTunes OK, but it doesn't play on the Nano. You might try these steps; they worked for me. (I'm using a Dell, in case that matters.)
    1. Select one of the audiobook's tracks and hit "burn" to burn it to a CD. ITunes will say the track won't fit onto a single CD. Click "Audio CDs" to break the track into new, shorter tracks and burn them onto multiple CDs.
    2. Once the CDs have burned, put each one back into the drive and import the new, shorter tracks into your library.
    3. Find the new, shorter tracks in your library. Right-click on them (if you're using a PC) and select "Convert selection to ACC." The ACC copies will appear under the originals.
    4. Copy the ACC copies into a new playlist for your audiobook.
    5. Synch the new playlist with your iPod. The new playlist will have several times as many tracks as the original audiobook, but it should play on the iPod.
I'm sure more tech-savvy iPoders will find a better way of handling the issue without burning up CDs, but this worked for me. I wonder if the problem is that the tracks are too long -- more than two hours in one case -- but I didn't have this problem with "iWoz" several months ago.

  • HT201272 Audiobook download question

I was in the middle of an audiobook when my phone got damaged and I had to replace it. The iCloud restore did not put the book back on my new phone so I went on itunes to re-download it and it asks me if I want to buy it again. If I choose yes will it charge me a second time?

Yes, it will. Audiobooks cannot be redownloaded. You'll need to contact the iTuens Store, explain what happened, and ask for assistance. Go here:
    http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/contact/
and follow the instructions to report the issue to the iTunes Store.
    Regards.

If it's the same problem on both devices, the book tracks are almost certainly corrupted. Go here:

  • HT201272 Audiobook download

I downloaded an audiobook to my IPhone approx 4 months ago but it has not copied across to my newly purchased IPad and doesn't appear in my ITunes purchases. I've set both devices to use ICloud. Any ideas how to find it so that I can download it to the IPad please?

Audiobooks are currently a one-time only download so they won't appear in the cloud for re-downloading. If you still have it on your iPhone then you should be able to copy it to your computer's iTunes via File > Transfer Purchases and you can then sync it to the iPad. If you no longer have a copy of it anywhere then you can try contacting iTunes support and see if they will grant you a re-download (but there is no guarantee that they will) : http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/contact/ - click on Express Lane, then iTunes > iTunes Store

  • HT201272 audiobook transfer

I had to buy a new ipod touch as the old one died.  Music has transferred ok but I had some audiobooks purchased from iTunes on my old ipod and they have disappeared - they show up in my purchase history but there is no app for them and they don't show up at all when I go into books. Do you know how to get them back from iTunes and into my new ipod?

Audiobooks are currently a one-time only download from the store, so they won't appear in the Purchased tab for re-downloading - I think that they are all supplied to Apple by audible.com so I assume that it's them requiring the one-time only download. If they are on your computer's iTunes then they should be in the Books part of your library. If they aren't, and you don't have on a backup, then you can try contacting iTunes Support and see if they will grant you a re-download (and if they do then take a backup of them, and your other content, as there is no guarantee that any item will remain in the store for future re-downloading) : http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/contact/ - click on Contact iTunes Store Support on the right-hand side of the page, then Purchases, Billing & Redemption
When you sync them to your iPod then they will go into the Music app (when there are audiobooks in the app you will get an Audiobooks option in it).

  • HT201272 Audiobook Download Failure

I upgraded my OS on my iphone and it failed to synch one of my audiobooks.  It is not available on my PC or on my iphone.  When I go into the istore and try to purchase it again it says that the item has already been purchased (no ****), I can't download it through any option.  Obviously the istore knows I already own it, but where is it?

Audiobooks (and ringtones) are currently a one-time only download from the store. If it's no longer on your phone nor your computer (aubiobooks should copy over to the Books part of your iTunes library) and you don't have it on a backup, then you can try contacting iTunes support and see if they will grant you a re-download : http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/contact/ - click on Contact iTunes Store Support on the right-hand side of the page, then Purchases, Billing & Redemption

  • HT201272 Audiobook trouble.

I downloaded audiobooks, but when I switched computers, they both disappeared. I was able to recover all of my music by authorizing my computer, but my audiobooks aren't even in my purchased section. How do I fix this?

Audiobooks are currently a one-time only download from the store (I believe that they are all supplied to Apple by audible.com, so I assume that it's them that are requiring the one-time only download). If you still have your old computer then you should be able to copy them over from that (copying content), or you can copy them from your backup and into your computer's iTunes (File > Add To Library).
If you don't have them anywhere and if they are still in the store then you can try contacting iTunes support and see if they will grant you a re-download :  http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/contact/ - click on Contact iTunes Store Support on the right-hand side of the page

  • HT201272 Audiobook won't download

I purchased an audiobook, but it won't show up in my library. It is in my purchases on the iTunes store, but I can't find any way to re download it. Is there a way to download it again without paying twice?

I don't think you can for Audiobooks.
Have you checked if the audiobook file is on your computer in your download area. If it is there just drag and drop it into itunes
