Itunes store has my purchased download button deactivated, so I can't re-download songs. What is the problem?

Have the same problem. The country is the USA.
USA permits re-downloads.
So do you have another suggestion? Here's what Apple support says:
"click the iCloud download button next to each item to download them one by one, or click the iCloud Download All button at the bottom."
Unfortunately there is no "iCloud download button". Did a google images search for same, and it's definitely not there. What is there is a greyed-out icon which says "Downloaded." Click on this and the only option is "remove from list."

Sadly, you don't - iTunes Store give you one download, and you're supposed to back it up in case your PC crashes.

Do you have all your music on an iPod? You could get it back from that.

I have an Apple ID separate from my family's so that I don't have all of their music I don't like. In the past, I was able to sign onto theirs with my iPhone and re-download songs they had that I didn't want to buy again. Then one day, it randomly said that my device could only be associated with one Apple ID and I could use another one in 90 days. I don't want to wait that long so I was wondering why this happened and is there a way I can still get their music? All of their music is on the computer and I honestly have no idea if I can put their music on my phone using said computer. Can I? If so, please give me steps how. Thank you.

Download music already purchased... What the??

I downloaded a album from iTunes. 1/4 of the songs were only 3-5 secs long. That wasn't right, so I deleted the album with intent of downloading it again. I clicked on the "purchased" link, and the album isn't there. It is under "purchase history" of my "account information." Hmmmmm...

Assuming you are in a region where you are allowed to redownload your past purchases, delete the current copies from your iTunes library, go to the iTunes Store home page, click the Purchased link from the Quick Links section in the right-hand column, then select Music and Not on this computer. You should find download links for your tracks there.
If the problem persists, or that facility is not available in your region, contact the iTunes Store support staff through the report a problem links in your account history, or via Contact Support.

- Are you saying that they are not listed in your Purchased section?
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store
- Are they listed in your Puchases history when you log into your account on your computer?
- Are they still available now for purchase? If not then you are out of luck
If they are still available and listed in your Puchase History then contact iTunes

Can i re download music etc purchased on my account?

My daughters ipod broke and has been replaced with a new one. Also, her itunes was on a laptop that too is not accessible. She has a new laptop and new ipod. All purchased downloads were made on my account. Can she re download them? I have searched purchased history and they are listed - but how do i select download again? I was advised that I should perhaps try purchasing them again and then I would be told that I have already purchased the item??? Seems odd - but does anyone know? I amusing itunes 10 on mac but daughter will use it on windows. (same itunes account - different library of course)

ok. I understand. I will contact iTunes to see if they can do anything. I have always backed up my PC - my daughters laptop wasn't allowed too near me! She was insistent that it would be fine!! Anyhow, as I have previously had up to 6 itunes libraries on my PC - all using one account - is it possible I wonder if I can find this music of hers in the backup files somewhere.? I am on the search. (used amazon too and they are looking into it for us) Now that I am on Mac I will be using time machine regularly - once I have sussed how to! Music I've already purchased re-downloading?

I went to open iTunes today to rip a cd, and when I opened the program, I was prompted to enter my username and password, to download previous purchases I have made that have not downloaded yet. In the past week or so, I tried to buy a song on iTunes a couple of time, but it said each time that there was an error in the store when I clicked on "purchase song", and I should come back later, so I just temporarily gave up. Anyway, I entered my username and password (even though I'm on my laptop, where I am *always* logged on) because I assumed that the store might mean that I was going to download the song I've been trying to buy.
What ended up happening, though, was that a soundtrack that I've had for a couple of years immediately began re-downloading; it's a large soundtrack, about twenty five dollars, so I immediately paused the download when I realized what was happening, and went to check my bank account; as of now, I have not been charged for an iTunes purchase, but I have duplicates of all the songs that downloaded before I paused the download.
Does anyone know why this happened, and if I will be charged for a second purchase? I am worried because the sountrack is fifteen dollars, and (being a permanently broke college student) I really can't afford things like that right now. The tracks that did not download are paused at the moment, and the original soundtrack that I have had for a couple of years is still in my library, and playing without any problems. I really have no clue as to why it started downloading.

It sounds like you are referring to music you already owned (CD's, downloads from sources other than the iTunes Store). I'm assuming you are new to the iPhone...if not then I'm not sure what the problem may be. But, if you ARE new to the iPhone and also new to using iTunes then your issue may be that you haven't imported your music files in to iTunes. They need to be in the iTunes library in order for you to add them to your iPhone. This is true regardless of which iOS you have. This is free but depending on how many music files you have it may take some time to get them all in the library. Try looking at the following links to see if they help.

Try deleting the problematic tune (electing to remove original file if/when prompted) and then re-downloading the file from the iTunes store.
You can re-download content purchased from the iTunes store (availability varies depending on location) using the purchased option from the Quick Links section in the top right corner of the iTunes homepage in your iTunes application on your computer.

There is no such thing as "sub-accounts".
Multiple Apple ID's can be used on a single device.
Created unique Apple ID's for each user and use those Apple ID's on the appropriate devices from iCloud and iMessage. This will not affect the media on the device.
