To update your phone requires using the latest version of iTunes, on your computer, as well as Internet access. The update to iOS 5.0 or higher is an erase/restore deal, so you not only have to make sure all of the content, currently on your phone, is on your computer and accessible, you need to update iTunes first, have Internet access, then update your phone. There is no way around this fact. You could go to an Apple store or use another computer, but you run the risk of losing all of your data it you do that.

I'm not sure where you are seeing the "negative reviews" but I like it and many, many people posting here do even though this is a forum for people with problems
No one knows when the next upgrade will be bu tit will require a purchase
I'm sure that there will be a few more updated for iPhoto '11 but probably not many - it has had a lot and is approaching the end of its life cycle I would think
And be sure to have a good backup prior to upgrading (as always) - I suggest in addition to your normal backup routine that you make one more copy of the iPhoto library on your main hard drive if you have space - remember that you need a minimum of 10 GB of free space jus tto run your Mac
And prior to launching iPhoto '11 the first time be sure to run software update and be sure it is up to the latest version

Can't seem to sync my songs and apps since i upgraded iphone and itunes

I just did the update so ios5 and the updated itunes. it wiped my phone and restored it. but it didnt put on my apps and my songs. i have all my pictures and contacts on it. but when i try to sync it just says preparing then flashes words faster than i can read them and its not updated...help!

Are you trying to drag songs onto playlists into your library or playlists that are already stored on your iPod? What happens when you try to add them? Are sure you aren't trying to add songs to Smart Playlists?

TS1702 Changed my email (also Apple ID) and have a new iPad, now I can't update or use any of the apps that I purchased on my old iPad because it wants to use my old email (ID) how do I fix this. I have spent a lot of money of these apps!

I changed my email address, which in turn, changed my Apple ID. I changed the settings of my iPad and things were fine for me, but my husband shares a few apps with me and isn't able to update or use any of those apps now. The change doesn't work for him.
Now, I got a new iPad mini and I'm having the same problem. I have purchased many apps which I can't use now. I have a lot of work documents saved to them too.
Is there anyway that both husband and I can change the setting so we can access the apps we have already purchased?

You have to be signed into the correct Apple ID in order to download those purchases again for free.
Settings>iTunes & App Store. Tap the old ID and sign out, then sign in with the new/changed ID.

Husband cannot install apps or buy songs since IOS6 update BUT......

Everytime I buy a song/app on my phone through my account they appear in his phone too!!!
We have totally seperate accounts but do share the same laptop when syncing - never had a problem before - any1 know why?!?!

If you updated your existing account then try logging out of it on the phone by tapping on the id in Settings > iTunes & App Stores and then log back in and see if that 'refreshes' the account on it.

Don't share your account with your kids. Don't give them the password. Set up restrictions on the devices they use to prevent purchasing on those devices...

Can't update an application by dragging to Apps

From time to time, I cannot drag a newer version of a program to the Apps folder. Recently it was Toast 9 and iSquint.
If I attempt to I get a message saying I do not have permission.
I am an administrator.
My work around is to delete the App (I have to put in a password to do that) then drag it to Apps.
Can I fix this for good?

With Toast at least, you should uninstall the previous version first. You can do this by moving it into a subfolder, marked, say StaleToast and you will be prompted for a password to move it.

I don't think it's broken, IMO.
Most apps that hook into the system files require a password to remove them for obvious reasons.

I bought my nephew a new ipod touch 16gb to replace his 8gb. Can't seem to get all songs or apps to transfer from the old one to the new? Any suggestions

I tried using itunes on his computer and it transferred his pictures and 25 of his 34 songs. None of the apps transferred so when we got to where we had wi-fi I enabled ICloud on both ipods. The new ipod shows where the original was backed up but it didn't add anything to the new ipod. Don't know what I'm doing wrong.

If he still has his or your itunes user and password on his iTunes app, iTunes should let you redownload it again FREE OF CHARGE. Any paid apps you already paid for, will reinstall for FREE.

You cannot. You must use the iLife disks or your system restore disk.

I can't update individual events in the Calendar app.

After installing the mountain lion around 3 weeks ago, I am unable to access the App Store or update my software... tried looking for solutions and no luck so far

Follow this procedure:
1. Go to Settings > iTunes & App Stores > Apple ID.
2. Tap your Apple ID
3. Sign out
4. Sign in with your updated Apple ID.
