HT201272 How can I get my previous purchases transferred to my new computer?

I bought a new laptop and dont know how to get my previous purchases on this itunes.

iTunes: How to move [or copy] your music to a new computer [or another drive] -
Quick answer if you let iTunes manage your music:  Copy the entire iTunes folder (and in doing so all its subfolders and files) intact to the other drive.  Start iTunes with the option (shift on Windows) key held down and guide it to the new location of the library.

  • How can I get my old iTunes music onto my new computer without access to my old computer? I left my previous job and forgot to transfer my music. I bought iTunes match and it shows my old Mac as a device, but I cannot get the music off it.

How can I get my old iTunes music onto my new computer without access to my old computer? I left my previous job and forgot to transfer my music. I bought iTunes match and it shows my old Mac as a device, but I cannot access any of the old music. All I can find are what was on my iPhone, but that's not what I want. I need all my old music from my old Mac, which has been wiped clean by IT at my old job. BUT, I did have iCloud at that time and I thought all my music would be accessible through it. I don't understand the Cloud! And I'm thinking spending $24.99 on iTunes Match was a waste of money because I still can't access my old music.

When you are done with this issue, consider the computer back at the office may still
have access to your iTunes account, and it should be de-auhorized. You can do that
remotely, but be sure you carefully do not mess up your other computer iTunes libraries.
    Good luck & happy computing!

Hi I have just upgraded my computer to Mac OSX 10.6.7 now I cant open my FCE 4. Message reads, Hardware missing -AGP Graphics card. How can I get my FCE 4 working on the new computer? Cheers

Thanks, just so I know we are talking about the same items please let me know - When you say "run Prokit" do you mean downloaded? Which I did. I dont have Prokit 4.0.1 if you are referring to that, do I need this first? Please explain what application name I am looking for if other than Prokit which is sitting in my "download folder" do I need to manually put it into the apps folder? Sorry if the questions are layman but this area is not a very strong point for me. Thanks for your help so far.

  • HT201272 How can I download ringtones previously purchased?

I purchased various ringtones from the iTunes store now I'm trying to download to my new iPhone and I can't find them. How can I download ringtones previosly purchased in the iTunes store? Thanks

Ringtones are currently a one-time only download from the store. Do you have copies of them in the Tones section of your computer's iTunes library or on your backup of your downloads ? If not, and if they are still in the store, then you could try contacting iTunes Support and see if they will grant you a re-download : - click on Contact iTunes Store Support on the right-hand side of the page

  • My old computer has died, how can i get all my tunes on to my new computer and ipod?

My old computer died and i can't get access to itunes on it. how can i get itunes on my new computer without wiping my ipod and having to start again from scratch?

If the computer isn't functioning because of a operating system issue, but the computer itself still works, then it's possible to boot from a operating system on a cd or USB stick and transfer the files.
If the boot drive physically works (and it hasn't been encrypted), the files can be removed if the computer doesn't work as well. (more on that later as it costs more money)
For the first option your going to need to create a bootable USB or CD. I'm going to go with the easiest, a 2-4 GB USB thumb drive (nothing else on it of course)
Visit this page and download the Easy USB Installer for Windows.
Now from the first menu there you select Ubuntu 10.10 and check the box to download the ISO of Ubuntu Linux. Wait for it to finish.
Now #2 browse to the ISO you just downloaded.
Now #3 you select the EXACT drive letter of the USB (look under My Computer/Computer)
Leave "show all drives" and "persistence" alone. Check "format drive" (be sure the drive letter is correct!)
    Click "Create"
Once you got that done, stick the USB in the back of the computer (if a tower) and hook up a external USB hard drive. (nothing else on it.)
Now you need to find the BIO's boot key for your problem computer, DELL it's F2 to enter the BIO's (list at link)
Navigate around in there and set the USB as the first boot option (or cd if you got a boot cd). Save the option.
Reboot the computer and it should boot off the USB. "Try Ubuntu/run from USB/CD"  Don't install.
Once your in Ubuntu, you can easily go to the Places Menu and Select Computer, see all the drives and access your ENTIRE iTunes folder. Transfer this entire folder to the external USB drive.
Also you can grab your pictures and anyrthing else while your in there.
Now the second option is potentially destructive, if the computer doesn't work at all mechanically. Disconnect any power from the computer. Then you can remove the internal hard drive, use a powered IDE/SATA to USB adapter and plug it right into your new computer just like a external drive. However I would do a malware scan first.
Lastly if you got your iTunes Folder onto the new computer (replacing the new iTunes folder with the old). You need to open the XML file in a Text program that has "Find and Replace" ability. So you can correctly fix the partial pathnames from the old computer to the new computer.
This little step preserves all your playlists.
Once you got your content over, you should File > Backup Library to disk and feed it DVD-R's or use a external drive.
As you know, the iPod only sync's content one way, to the iPod.  (exception for iTMS bought stuff on the iPod can be synced back into iTunes with the correct account enabled.)  You might need to check iLounge for current third party software that reverses all content form a iPod back into iTunes.
Finally if this is all above your head, have a professional do it for you. Apple will not re-issue downloads, backing up is your responsibility.
    Hope that helps.

  • I just got a new computer and my iPOD will not sync to it because of the old computer. How can I get my library to sync on the new computer????

I originally synced my iPOD to my PC in April 2011.  I purchased a new computer but my iPOD will not sync to it because it is synced to the old PC.  I do not want to erase my iPOD to sync with the new PC because I have loaded alot of music from CD's to it.  HELP!

See this article how to transfer your data? How to back up your data and set up as a new device
Make sure your new computer is authorized in iTunes. Disable autosync in itunes, connect your ipod, right click on it in the device list and choose backup.
This will save data, pictures and settings to itunes. See what's included in this backup here:
Transfer your purchases the same way to copy all apps and bought media from the Store to your computer.
Set up at least one contact and event on your computer to be able the merge your calendars and contacts after your ipod got wiped during the first sync.
The rest of the data can be restored from the backup you made.
As mentioned by vazandrew, music is one way only, from the computer to your device, unless you bought the songs in itunes and transferred your purchases.
There is 3rd party software out there, but not supported by Apple, see this thread:

  • How can I get my music on iTunes on my new computer?

I just got a new computer because my old one totally died. All I want to do is get my iTunes on my new computer to have all my music on it, just like it was on my previous computer. I have an first generation iPod Touch, 16GB.

It has always been very basic to always maintain a backup copy of your computer files/docs/pics/music/etc.
Use your backup copy to put everything back.
The music sync is one way - computer to ipod.
The exception is itunes purchases.  Without syncing:  File>Transfer Purchases

  • I just decommissioned my windows pc for a mac power book.  How can I get my ipad to sync with the new computer without erasing all the apps and data on the ipad?

I just decomissioned my windows pc in favor of a new (to me) MacBook Pro.  When I attempt to sync my iPad I get a warning that I will erase all content on the ipad in order to sync with the new computer.  How do avoid erasing all the data on the iPad, and get the iPad and the new Mac/iTunes to be friends?

Best option is to use Windows Migration Assistant as Ralph noted.
Here's a better (updated) link to Windows Migration Assistant for Lion ->
Or if you only want iTunes (Migration Assistant let's you choose) copy the entire /Music/iTunes/ folder from your PC to /Music/ on the Mac.
FYI: A MacBook is not a PowerBook. PowerBooks were discontinued in 2005.

  • How can I get DW to access my site frommy new computer?

I was using DW MX (yes!) successfully from my old computer (XP).  But I have problems with the new computer (Windows 7).  I transferred the copy of the site from the old computer to the new, installed DW, defined the site, tested the connection to the site successfully.  When I make a change to the local copy of a page, save it, and Put it, DW says it has Put the file, but the web page doesn't update (after several attempts and refreshes).  Can anybody help, please?
    Tx, Dave

Ah, Host Directory field of remote site in site def is empty. What needs to go in there?

  • How can i get music off my iphone onto my new computer without the music on both having songs deleted?

I have a new computer and have put some music on it before I hooked up my iPhone. So now I have some music on my iPhone that I don't have on my computer and I don't want to 'sync' and lose some of the music on my iPhone.  So I would appreciate it if someone could help me out with getting the music off my iPhone and adding it to my new iTunes??

The syncing of music is not a true sync process - not really a sync at all. It is a transfer process. No iTunes content in your iTunes library will ever be touched or removed by syncing an iDevice.
Where is your old computer - the one with your iTunes library that was used to sync with your iPhone? Why didn't you transfer your iTunes library from your old computer to your new computer along with all other important data such as documents, photos, etc.?
If your old computer is still available, transfer your iTunes library from your old computer to your new computer per the instructions included with this link. This will prevent any iTunes content from being removed from your iPhone with the first sync with iTunes on your new computer.

  • How do I get all my music transferred to a new computer?

I just got a new computer running Windows 7 as my old one died. I had all my itunes music backed up on an external hard drive and have copied it all to the new computer. I've downloaded itunes, now how do I get the music into itunes? I followed the steps on the online help but nothing happened when I opened itunes.

In itunes menu, FILE, ADD FOLDER TO LIBRARY, point to the folder where you store all your music and click SELECT FOLDER button.

  • How can I get my previously purchased ringtone back on my Iphone after being replaced under warrenty?

I just got my phone replaced under warrenty and all of my music purchases, contacts and everything transfered over through icloud except for my ringtone that I paid for. I cant seem to figure out how to get it back on my phone. Help please?

Doesn't work. The problem is with step 7 of the instructions you referenced (  ).  Step 7 reads,  "click on the download icon to download that item."
The problem is that there is no "download icon" and yes, my country ( USA) permits re-downloads.
Apple support says, "click the iCloud download button next to each item to download them one by one, or click the iCloud Download All button at the bottom."
Unfortunately, there is no "iCloud download button" at all. On the "purchases" tab under the iTunes store= music, all the tabs are greyed out and read "downloaded". There are no other options.
    MacOs 10.7, iTunes 11.1.1.

  • How do I get my previously purchased audiobooks onto my new iPad air?

I've bought a new iPad air and all my music, iBooks and films where easily available to download free again onto it.
I cannot find how to download the audiobooks that I've already purchased and are on my MacBook Pro and old iPad.
    Help please :-)

Audiobooks are a one-time only download from the store, so you will need to sync them from your Mac's iTunes library - if they aren't all on there but are still on your old iPad, then connect the old iPad to your Mac's iTunes and do File > Devices > Transfer Purchases to copy them over to your Mac so that you can then sync them.
