HT201272 How do I redownload my purchased apps to iTunes on Mac

I had all my iTunes apps, video, music etc stored on an external hard drive.
The drive broke down and so did the backup.
So when I open up iTunes now, I see the apps but when I ask to "find in finder" I obviously get an exclamation mark.
I was able to rebuild all my music and videos but am stomped with the apps.
I want to redownload my purchased apps to iTunes which is the last step in reconstructing my iTunes library
I tried the procedure outlined in the following link:
http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2519 but got stomped at step 4:
of: "To download previously purchased:/ Apps, Books, Music, Movies, or TV shows on a computer/Using iTunes 11 or later"
which states: "After you've signed in, click the Library button located in the upper-right of the iTunes Store."
There is no Library Button.
Anyone had the same problem and solve it ? If so, please help !
Thank you !
PS: I am using iTunes 11.01

With iTunes 11, if you have the left-hand sidebar showing (option-command-S) like on previous versions of iTunes, then the Library button won't show - instead you can select your library via that sidebar.
To re-download, on the right-hand side of the iTunes store homepage there should be a Purchased link under the Quick Links section. Click on that and you should go to a screen where you can select the content type (music, apps etc) and be able to re-download them. If you still have the 'pointers' to your apps in your iTunes library (i.e. where you are getting the exclamation marks) then iTunes will assume that you already have them somewhere and won't let you re-download them - so try deleting one of them first and you should then be able to re-download it via that Purchased link, and you can then do the same for the others.

How do I permanently delete purchased apps from itunes on my iphone?

I have spent a good part of my evening trying to figure this out then finally found this page which confirms what I was thinking... It doesn't appear possible! ARHHHH!!! There are loads of posts saying how you can do this, when what they appear to be describing is how to remove the apps from their iphone/ipad and not actually from the list of every app you have ever installed which appears when you go into the "Apps Store" > Updates > Not on this iPhone.
It would be really nice to be able to remove programs from this list as I am sure I am not the only person who over the years have installed some apps which where not very good and I don't want to be reminded of them or to ever see them again quite frankly.
I can do this very easily from my Android phone in Google Play which is Google's version of the App Store.
I think things like this remind me why I prefer the ease of use of my Android phone... Ho hum! Maybe one day some geeks at Apple will realise that this would actually be a really useful thing to be able to do and enable it.

It is easy to download items you have purchased from iTunes again; this article will walk you through it: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2519
You want the "Apps on iOS" section.

How do I download previously purchased albums from iTunes when the album has either disappeared from my computer or the tunes are not playable?  The albums show as purchased on the iTunes store, but not available to download to my authorized device.  I also have albums that appear in my library, but are not able to be added to my iPod from my computer

When you download something from the iCloud, it is a brand new licensed copy. Your iCloud account just contains a notation that you have this app. It isn't storing an actual copy of the app from your Mac.

  • HT201272 i can't see my purchased apps in itunes on new ipad when I go into the itunes store. It shows nothing. I haven't changed my ID or country of purchase. It shows that I would have to rebuy them when I go into the store.

i can't see my purchased apps in itunes on new ipad mini. when I go into the itunes store. It shows nothing. I haven't changed my ID or country of purchase. It shows that I would have to rebuy them when I go into the store. Is there something in settings on Itunes I need to change? I do not have cloud.

Yes I am looking in the app store. When I look in Itunes on my computer and look at purchased apps it is there. And when I go on my other device and look at apps purchased all apps are there.
The new ipad doesn't show any apps purchased when I click on apps purchased and when I search the app store it doesn't show it is purchased. I am wondering if I am just missing something...need to turn something on in options or something. Never had this problem with previous ipad when I set it up.

  • How do I redownload already purchased apps?

    Hi,
I've got a major problem following updating my IPod Touch 4th Generation to ios6. I found the link to the help page where it describes logging on to the App Store, then going to updates, then previously installed, but it doesn't work for me. I am, to put it mildly, so angry with Apple but, because I had bought a new computer I had to buy a program to transfer my music to my new computer as I-Tunes only allows a one-way transfer! Then, last night, I upgrade (allegedly!) to ios6 and it wipes out all my apps from my i-pod. I go on to the App Store and only about 25 of my apps are showing as purchased when, when I look at the I-Tunes on my computer there are 98 apps. How come it's not showing all the apps? And does that mean I now have to physically go in and search for all 98 apps and download them all one by one? And, as they're not showing as purchased (on my I-Pod list) does that mean I'll have to buy to download them all again? I assume that that's not the case but, given my experience of the past few days I wouldn't be so sure! To put it mildly I'm not a happy bunny with Apple right now.

I had to buy a program to transfer my music to my new computer as I-Tunes only allows a one-way transfer!
That is correct for music not purchased from the iTunes Store. The record labels demanded that Apple not include the ability to easily copy music back from an iPod. This was to "help prevent piracy". Dumb, I know, but that's the record industry for you. Only those tracks purchased from the iTunes Store will sync back to your computer without a third-party utility.
when I look at the I-Tunes on my computer there are 98 apps. How come it's not showing all the apps?
Perhaps some of those apps were purchased through a different iTunes Store account than the one you're current logged into. Get Info on one or two of the apps that aren't showing and see if perhaps they were purchased through another account.
And does that mean I now have to physically go in and search for all 98 apps and download them all one by one? And, as they're not showing as purchased (on my I-Pod list) does that mean I'll have to buy to download them all again?
I'm confused. If the apps are in iTunes on your computer, why do you not just sync them from there back to your iPod? Do you get some sort of error when you try?
    Regards.

Of course it does not work with 4.3.1.
I showed you wher it says " iOS 4.3.3 or later,"
    Do you not see that?
4.3.1 is NOT 4.3.3 or later

  • HT201272 How can I re-download purchased tones in itunes?

I've been having some issues with my phone so as suggested elsewhere I did a complete reset without restoring from a backup, just setup as a new phone.  The other issue are resolved, but now I can't seem to get any of the previously purchased Tones back on the phone.  When I select to purchase the Tone again it does recognize that I've already purchased it and asks if I want to buy it again, I selct No of course.  In iTunes they don't show up under my purchased items.
Any suggestions?  I'm on iOS 6.1.2 & latest iTunes.

Ringtones are currently a one-time only download from the store. If you haven't got them on your computer nor on a backup of your purchases then you can try contacting iTunes support and see if they will grant you a re-download : http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/contact/ - click on Contact iTunes Store Support on the right-hand side of the page

  • HT1203 Can I share one iTunes account for my iPad and two I phones? If so, how can I get the purchased apps and music on all three devices? Do I need a home computer,

Can I share one iTunes account for my iPad and two I phones? If so, how can I get the purchased apps and music on all three devices? How do I sync all the devices to have the same music and apps?

You can set up an iCloud account on each one (the SAME iCloud account using the same AppleID on each) and then sync via iCloud.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5262\
However, an iCloud backup nor sync contains purchased content - that is available for redownload from the iTunes and App stores (so no need to waste iCloud space storing it for you).
So, for purchased content, you will have to download it on each device - just use the same AppleID and download each item on each device.
Without a computer to aid the sync'ing, downloading the purchased content on each device is the only way.
P.S  audiobooks cannot be re-downloaded once purchased (all other content can be), so without a computer to save, store and move the audiobook files around, you will only be able to put those on one device - the one you first purchase it on.

  • How do I transfer my purchased apps

How do I transfer my purchased apps & music from iPhone 3G to iPhone 5 & iPad?

As long as the apps are still in the store then you can redownload them directly on both the iPhone 5 and iPad via the Purchased tab in their App Store apps, and (depending upon what country that you are in) you may also be able to redownload your music purchases on them via the Purchased tab in their iTunes store apps.
But if you want the apps content from your 3G and not just the apps, then you will need to go via a computer's iTunes e.g. connect the 3G and do File > Devices > Transfer Purchases to copy the apps and songs etc over to your computer's iTunes, then take a backup of the phone (File > Devices > Back Up) and then restore that backup on the iPhone 5 and/or iPad (restoring will replace all current content on them).
Going forward you don't have to backup to a computer, you will be able to backup to iCloud (the 3G is too old to support iCloud, so you can't back that up to it) :
    iCloud : http://www.apple.com/icloud/
    How to backup : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4079
Ideally though you'd have a computer that you could copy your iTunes downloads over to so that you can take a backup copy of them (and you could also back the iPhone and iPad up to a computer). There is no guarantee that any item will remain in the store for future redownloading, the content provider (app developer, record company etc) could remove their item from the store - and ringtones and audiobooks are currently one-time only downloads from the store, so without a computer you won't be able to them from one device to the other. A computer isn't needed, but it would be preferable to have one.
There are also minimum specs that a computer needs to meet to be able to sync an iPhone 5 to - from http://www.apple.com/iphone/specs.html :
Syncing with iTunes on a Mac or PC requires:
Mac: OS X v10.6.8 or later
PC: Windows 7; Windows Vista; or Windows XP Home or Professional with Service Pack 3 or later
    iTunes 10.7 or later
