HT201272 I recently purchased a book on my iPhone and when I tried to download it on my iPad it says not available for redownload. What's with that? They should at least tell you it's only available on he device. Any suggestions to know this is a one down
When I tried to download it onto my iPad it doesn't show up in my downloads. So I found the book and clicked to buy it again as I have seen this happen with apps before. I clicked buy and it gave me a message. You have already purchased this book but it isn't available for redownload do you want to purchase this book again?
This is frustrating to me because had I known this I would have never purchased it on my iPhone. I always read off my iPad.
Also if this is the case why doesn't it say somewhere. ALERT. This is a one download only book!

What iPhone do you have? You can check in settings>>general>> about.
If you have a 3G you cannot update beyond iOS 4.2.1. The 3G is over 4 years old an was discontinued over 2 1/2 years ago. You need the latest ios to run the latest versions of some apps. If you have a 3GS you can update.
If your phone is not responding, reset it by pressing and holding down both the home button ad lock/ sleep button simultaneously until the Apple logo appears.

I recently purchased a book on itunes. How do I get it into ibooks? On itunes it says that it is downoaded...but to where has it been downloaded?
If you bought it on your computer's iTunes then it will have downloaded to the Books section of your computer's iTunes library. You should be able to sync it to the iBooks by connecting and selecting the iPad on the left-hand sidebar of your computer's iTunes (on iTunes 11 you can enable the sidebar via option-command-S on a Mac, control-S on a PC) and then on the Books tab on the right-hand side of the screen selecting and syncing that book. Or you should also be able to re-download it directly on the iPad via the Purchased tab in the ibookstore in the iBooks app - it should sync/download to the Books collection in the app.

My grandad has a 1st edition iPad and when he tries to download certain apps it says he needs at least iOS 5? Shouldn't this be updated automatically? Or can this be updated another way? I haven't been to see his iPad so he may not be looking properly??? Any helpers???
The iOS version is not updated automatically, though if he connects it to his computer's iTunes (if it's a recent enough version) he should be prompted as to whether he wants to update.
He should connect the iPad to his computer's iTunes and copy any purchases off the iPad to his computer via File > Transfer Purchases. He may also want to copy photos and any important documents off the iPad as well e.g. via the file sharing section at the bottom of the device's apps tab when connected to iTunes, via wifi, email, dropbox etc - they should be included in the backup, but it's best to have a copy of them outside of the backup just in case. He can then force a backup of the iPad by right-clicking the iPad 'Device' on the left-hand side of iTunes and selecting 'Backup'.
He can then start the update by selecting the iPad on the left-hand side of iTunes, and on the Summary tab on the right-hand side clicking the Check For Updates button

His iPad should update to iOS 5.1.1 (which is the only version that is 'signed' by Apple for the iPad 1, it doesn't support iOS 6). -
I was going to download a book off of Itunes and when I went to download it my zip code didn't match my card so I wasn't able to download it. now I have a pending charge on my account from Itunes for the book I never received, will I still be charged?
Digital Editions can open files of .pdf , .epub and .acsm format.
When you click on a download link from an online bookstore, a .acsm file gets downloaded to the "Downloads" folder of your computer. You need to double click on this .acsm file(if Digital Editions is already installed) to get the book. If you still get a message saying that your computer doesn't have a way to open this file, please manually associate Digital Editions to the .acsm file type OR open Digital Editions and drag and drop the .acsm file onto Digital Editions.

Do you have AppleCare? Even if you don't, take to the Apple store and tell them what happened. They should help even though it's a few months out of warranty. You might have to talk to a manager or different higher up.

What do I do to get back my space?
THe game likely needs space to 'unzip' so to speak and expand. Not to mention that on a 16 gig iPad, you only have 13 and change left after you take the operating system into account. (Settings, general, usage will tell you how much room you have left)
You can always delete some content to make room. Or if you ever synced it to a computer, download your game via the computer then sync it onto you device, you don't need as much free room that way. -
I can't Sync a recently purchased audio book to my iPhone
I just purchased an audio book through iTunes and dropped it into a new playlist I created. When I wnet ot sync wit my iPhone 4s the new playlist was not present in the music tab in my device. I even moved the book to a known playlist and synced again but it didnt copy. Help!
The best way to read books on a Mac is the get the Kindle app, and purchase the books from the Amazon Kindle Store.
The iBooks that you get from Apple cannot be used on a Mac. As renstarr notes, they can only be used on iDevices. -

I just purchased the movie The Avengers from my iPad. It took a while to download, but then I would get a error message that download isn't complete and to retry. I'd retry and the same message would pop up again. What went wrong?
