  • Is there a way to transfer music from my ipod to a new computer using itunes WITHOUT access to the old computer??

Is there a way to transfer music already downloaded on my ipod to my new laptop, without having access to the original computer with itunes?? It is on my boyfriend's computer and we broke up - not a good option to ask him to use his computer...now I'm worried I won't get all my music back!

    Hi,
I don't know if you can help me any further, but maybe you can direct me somewhere that will??
I took your advice from above and went out and downloaded CopyTrans, paid the $20, downloaded everything - it worked beautifully!! Everything backed up and iTunes had all my songs.
Then I guess I'm a huge idiot or just got overzealous, so I plugged in my iPhone, because I had a few purchases on there and thought I could everything in one place on iTunes. Something happened really BAD and all my songs on iTunes deleted and were replaced with the few that I had on my phone, plugged my iPod back in and somehow I must have clicked on the wrong thing and the iPod synced with the iPhone songs! I feel sick to my stomach!! Is everything gone???
I did a "backup" in CopyTrans, but I have no idea where it was saved on my computer - when I go back into CopyTrans it acts like I need to pay again and doesn't show the backup file anywhere.
Do you have any ideas or know where I can go for help - or is it a lost cause?

Theft by finding - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
    From that link:
"The finder of lost property acquires a possessory right by taking physical control of the property, but does not necessarily have ownership of the property. The finder must take reasonable steps to locate the owner. If the finder shows that reasonable steps to find the owner have been taken then the finder may establish that the required mens rea for theft, the intention to deprive the owner permanently, is absent."
One could argue that leaving an item in the 'Lost and Found' box for 30 days meets that requirement.  I'm not saying that I beleive that- there are certainly additional things that could be done without much effort, such as checking in settings for their appleid/email address, etc.  But one could make that argument.
In any case, there's no way to get that music off.
I disagree about the 'Lost & Found' box in this situation.  We're not talking about an article of clothing.  There are most likely ways to identify a manner in which to contact the owner (such as the email address that shows in multiple locations on the device, or that pops up when you try to access iTunes or App store.
It's like finding a wallet, but not looking at the address on the driver license to make any attempt to contact the owner.  It's easy to find a way to contact the owner in both scenarios.
This is simply someone that is looking to get something for free, and 'cheat' the system.
I guarantee you that if this guy lost his iPhone, he'd be ranting up a storm that whoever found it hasn't tried to contact them.

  • HT201272 is there a way to get music on my ipod to my i tunes account?

I had my music in itunes lost but my ipod has all the music is ther a way to transfer my music back from ipod to my itunes account ?

    1. if you have a backup that will be very easy
    2. if not, try this:
    Download past purchases
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht2519
    3. contact Apple iTunes Store to try and restore all your past purchases, remember everything is "one-time" download only, there is no guarantee that you can restore everything...make it a habit to backup everything
    good luck!

  • Is there any way to transfer music from a library to an Apple ID?

A couple of months ago, my Apple ID was hacked. I had to get a new one because whoever hacked it changed the password and the email and it didn't even show up in Apple's database when I called them. My problem is that I have A LOT of songs that I bought with my old ID. If anything happens to my computer, I dont want to lose all of them. Is there any way to transfer at least the PURCHASED songs in my library to my new ID? I don't know if the Apple guy had any idea what I meant when I asked him this back when it all happened, but he said there was and I haven't been able to find it...

    Back up the purchases.

  • Hard drive on my MacBook, iTunes was not backed up. Purchases were recovered, but missing music is trapped on other devices (iPad, iPod & iPhone). Is there a way to transfer music from these devices (esp. iPhone & iPad) to MacBook?

I had to replace my hard drive on my MacBook and iTunes was not backed up. All of our purchases were recovered, but we are missing music that we now have only on other devices (iPad, iPod and iPhone). Is there a way to recover music from these devices? Also, the missing music on the MacBook that is on the iPhone is greyed out so I can't play it. What's the deal? How can I change that?
BTW- I am going to purchase an external hard drive to make sure this never happens again. I'm am also discovering other missing very valuable data. I'm considering investing in iMatch, too.

    Try PhoneView: http://www.ecamm.com/mac/phoneview/
iTunes Match is not a backup strategy. Do not rely upon it for disaster recovery. For that you need to use Time Machine or "clone" software.

  • Is there a way to transfer music I've purchased from my old Apple account to my new one?

    Hi everyone,
Many moons ago, when the iPod came out I downloaded iTunes and setup an account using my then current e-mail address aka user ID for iTunes.  However, fast forward about 8 years later and that old e-mail address has long been forgotten.  I know the log in information but I haven't used the e-mail for communication purposes for about the last 3 years.  At the time I got myself a new e-mail address I just continued to download from the iTunes store using the same account with the old e-mail address because basically I was never really concerned with getting the receipts, weekly updates, etc. (I get enough e-mail as it is, lol).
This past summer my husband bought me an iPhone and set it up for me using my new/current e-mail address, different from the one I had purchased 100's of iTunes songs with over the past 8 years or so.  It seems as though while I can authorize iTunes for both of the accounts, and share the music on different computers, I can only transfer the ones I've downloaded with my new username/e-mail address from iTunes to my iPhone?!  What do I do about all of the 100's of purchases I made with my other account, are they now worth nothing as far as getting them on my iPhone which I use as my iPod nowadays?!
I'm staring at my lucky bamboo as I type this because I get this feeling that I'm SOL .  I've tried "googling" my way to the answer but I haven't been able to find it.  And if it turns out I am, than shame on Apple.  It's ridiculous to presume that someone will keep the same e-mail address created as a kid which is typically a non-sense, flashy e-mail to adulthood when they tend to be a little more reserved and business friendly; there should be a way to transfer between user accounts if it's clear that that account and billing information is the same.
    Any help is appreicated.
    Thanks.

    Zion,
This worked! ...about 50%, but I suppose that's better than nothing.  I went into iTunes on my old username and downloaded the 300+ songs to my library but then for some reason when I went to transfer them to my iPhone it would only transfer like 120 or so of them.  I'm not really sure why but I'll continue to work on it.  Thanks so much for the help.
FYI - if anyone else reads this bc they have the same problem.  If you choose to go this route and download previous purchases from your old account you cannot auto download any content on your new(er) apple ID for 90 days after the purchase download.  Just something to keep in mind, but for me, it was totally worth it.  I have no qualms about manually transferring the songs to my iPhone for the next 3 months if it meant getting the rights to transfer all my old songs to my iPhone.
    Thanks again!

  • Is there a way to transfer music from one Apple ID to another?

When I got my first Ipod several years ago my parents created an Apple ID, or whatever it was called back then, so I could download music.  This is where about 90% of my music was downloaded from.  When I got my Iphone 4S just over a year ago I created my own Apple ID with my own email address.  I used this ID to download more music.  I used this ID to sign in on my laptop and I downloaded some music from some CDs and other non-Itunes material.  However it will not let me sync my Iphone to this ID because it says it can only be synced to the other one and in order to sync it with the one under my email address I have to clear what is currently on my Iphone in order to sync with the small material on the Itunes library under my email address which is stupid because then I end up losing most of my music downloads.  What I am wondering is if there is a way to transfer material from my parents ID to mine so all of my stuff is in one place without having to clear my Iphone.

useless sabotage is right you cannot move purchases between Apple IDs.
What you could do is to authorise your laptop with your old Apple ID
    Store > Authorise this Computer..
Then transfer all the old purchases from your old computer to this one so they are all in the same itunes.
Connect up your iPhone 4 to the new machine. Yes it will ask you to erase. Go ahead and erase then as all your music is on the iTunes for this machine you can resync it but still use your new Apple ID for future purchases.

  • Is there a way to transfer music from my ipod to a new mac

I had all of my music on both my ipod touch and iphone when my old computer crashed, is there anyway I can transfer that music from my ipod and iphone to itunes on my new mac so I don't have to re-download everything?

Some of the information below has subsequently appeared in a document by turingtest2: Recovering your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device - https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-3991
Your i-device was not designed for unique storage of your media. It is not a backup device and media transfer was designed for you maintaining a master copy of your media on a computer which is itself properly backed up against loss. Syncing is one way, computer to device, updating the device content to the content on the computer, not updating or restoring content on a computer. The exception is iTunes Store purchased content.
iTunes Store: Transferring purchases from your iOS device or iPod to a computer - http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1848 - only media purchased from iTunes Store
For transferring other items from an i-device to a computer you will have to use third party commercial software. Examples (check the web for others; this is not an exhaustive listing, nor do I have any idea if they are any good):

  • Is there a way to transfer music from my account to my daughter's new account?

I have been buying content for my daughter using my account for years. Now she is graduating and leaving home. Is there a way that I can transfer her music from my account to her new account?

Will she always have permission to play her music on the iTouch?
If it is non-DRM music (purchased since mid-2009) it can be played without the account password.
If there are any DRM songs, they will require the password of the account from which they were originally purchased.

  • Is there a way to transfer music from iPhone to iTunes?

I recently had a nasty virus on my Sony Vaio and my hard drive had to be replaced. Although I had all of my pictures and documents backed up, the only places that I had my music (3,000 songs) was on my iTunes library and my iPhone 4. All of my music was gone when I got the new hard drive. The music that was on iTunes was from CD's that I borrowed from my friends and mixes that they gave me, so I can't transfer the purchases through my account. I have Windows 7 on my PC and the latest version of iTunes. I've been lazy and haven't updated the software on my iPhone since summer. If i update the software on my iPhone to IOS 5, is there a way to get the music from my iPhone back to my computer via iCloud, or is there another method that I can use?

Google for software to extract the music from the iPhone.
There is no supported way via iTunes to extract the media.
