HT201272 Lost audiobook.. I am four

computer crashed a year ago, notice recently a past audiobook purchased was not there, searched, could not find it in the purchased area under the book section. Do I have to buy it again?

It has always been very basic to always maintain a backup copy of your computer.
Have you failed to do this?
You only get one download of audiobooks.
You can try contacting itunes support and asking for an exception.
Otherwise, you would have to buy again.

I lost an audio book & can't redownload it, anyone had the same experience & have any ideas offer?

It has always been very basic to always maintain a backup copy of your computer ( including all ituens content).  Use your backup copy to put the book back.

  • Lost Audiobooks & music

I purchased a new mac after my old one died, I tried to sync my audiobooks and music to the new Mac thinking i could sync them back to my iPhone.
I have now lost all audiobooks, & many albums, some even have songs missing from some albums.
Can someone please help me to try to get them back. I don't want to have to re download.
I am pulling my hair out.
    Thank you

iDevices are designed to be managed from an iTunes library.  You didn't say this but if you were not able to to transfer the old library to the computer then when you attach a phone it will say it does not recognize the new library and do you want to wipe the phone.  If you say yes then that is it.  It is gone.  You are given the opportunity to transfer iTunes Store purchases to the computer, but not items from other sources where it is assumed you are keeping proper backups or can get them from the original source.  If you did tell iTunes to wipe the phone and you no longer have the non-Store items on a backup then they are gone.
Again, your i-device was not designed for unique storage of your media. It is not a backup device and media transfer was planned with you maintaining a master copy of your media on a computer which is itself independently backed up against loss.  To use a device with a a different setup you transfer the old library from a computer or a backup directly to the new setup, not the device to the library. Media syncing is one way, computer to device, updating the device content to the content on the computer, not updating or restoring content on a computer. The exception is iTunes Store purchases which can be transferred to a computer.
iTunes Store: Transferring purchases from your iOS device or iPod to a computer - http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1848 - only purchases from iTunes Store
For transferring other items from an i-device to a computer you will have to use third party commercial software.  See this document by turingtest2: Recovering your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device - https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-3991

  • Lost audiobooks

This is the second time I've lost all of my audiobooks after syncing with my computer.
I got the alert saying there was an OS upgrade, but I needed to free up some space on my iPhone to get it. So I thought I'd temporarily delete one of my audiobooks until the update was finished. But I remembered that last time I'd tried to do ANYTHING remotely related to audiobooks, I'd ended up losing them. Poof! They vanished the second I synched the iPhone and my computer's iTunes.
So this time I figured I'd make sure and back up my books on my library BEFORE installing anything. So I hooked up my phone and selected "sync all audiobooks' rather than worry I'd left something unchecked, and sure enough I finished the sync and ALL OF MY AUDIOBOOKS WERE GONE.
I only have the two I purchased via my computer. Every single audiobook I bought with the iTunes app on my phone has completely vanished. At least half a dozen titles, just gone.
I paid for those books, now I can't listen to them without buying them again because there's no sign of them in purchased items, even though attempting to buy them again gets me an alert message telling me there's a record of my buying them before. I'd like to know why, if iTunes plainly remembers my buying the titles in the first place, it can't seem to find them anywhere in my records.
I have no desire to keep buying the same books over and over and over again every time I want to sync my phone with my laptop. If Apple can't figure out how to keep proper tabs on their customers' purchases, I'm taking my business elsewhere. Amazon, for instance, has never mysteriously deleted any of my files. Does anyone know if there's a way to rescue my audiobooks from wherever they've gone? Or do I simply need to drop iTunes all together if I'm going to keep them from continually scamming me out of my money?

Sorry to hear that they are gone, audiobooks are a special breed of purchased content rather than sync u needed to transfer purchases that would have added them to the computer try express lane.apple.com and ask for a reframe of all of them for free make ,sure to be nice, or Call AppleCare and see if they will ask for tou

  • HT201272 Lost 111 songs, not found on my hard drive/computer anywhere. How can I recover the songs from previously purchased items? I get amn "i" in circle that says can't locate song, and when I try, it goes nowhere. How do I find the songs previously pu

I've been trying to locate my lost song files on my computer and in my iTunes purchased library. However, when I try to go through itunes purchased to redownload prevously purchased songs, it says they have all been downloaded to my computer. These are the songs that show up with a small "i" in a circle in my library. I click to "locate" but cannot find them anywhere. How can I find them and/or re-download these songs?

Tunes works through a database file which has a list of your tracks.  When you click on a track it looks up in the database which file it needs to play, then plays the file.  If something breaks this link then you get !  The two main ways to get ! are to move a file from where iTunes expects it to be, or to delete it altogether.  I don't know which has happened in your case.  You can try using Spotlight to find a file for the one referred to in a broken link.  If the files have been moved then they need to be moved back.  If they were deleted completely you will have to restore them from a backup or download them again from the iTunes Store and rebuild your library.

  • HT201272 Lost song needs to be downloaded again

My iTunes lost a song and I have tried to locate it in my media folders (it's not there) but have found it in my purchases. Can I download a previously downloaded song I purchased on iTunes when it already says "downloaded" next to the song?

I'm stuck with the same issue; and unfortunately, the search doesn't find any of the files.  What next?  Please help.

  • Lost audiobooks that have been purchased are gone and iTunes is saying that I have to repurchase them. I have all of the receipts, how can I get them back without having to pay another hundred dollars?

ITunes is saying that the only way to get back all seven of my audiobooks are to repurchase them, however that is going to be about a hundred dollars to repurchase them all and I don't have that kind of money right now. Why are they making me do this and why the **** did they delete them in the first place, because I know I didn't delete them. I am on a MacBook Pro OS X version 10.9.5, processor 2.26 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, memory 2GB 1067 MHz DDR3.

    HI ..
You're sure you signed into iTunes using the same Apple ID used for the purchases?
You can re dowload past purchases for free >  Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store

  • HT201272 My audiobooks all disappeared off my ipad after I synced with my laptop.

I can see them on iTunes on my laptop but I can't transfer them back or even open them. What's happening and how do I get them back?
They don't appear as purchases on my iTunes account. It's like I never bought them in the first place.

Audiobooks behave differently than music, since you can't re-download them, they don't appear in some places. But if you access your account purchase history, you should be able to see the purchases.
It's hard to know why they won't transfer back from iTunes to your iPad without more information. From your comments I assume you purchased the audiobooks from the iTunes Store. What happens when you try to play the audiobook in iTunes? Do you get an error message? What size is reported for the track(s)? What format? Can you view the tracks in the Finder (or Explorer)?
It would also help to see your sync settings for audiobooks. Connect your device to your laptop, and in iTunes, click on it in the source list. Then view the Books tab, Audiobooks section. Are you sync'ing audiobooks? Do your audiobooks show up in the list? Are they checked for synchronization? Etc.

  • I've lost Audiobook on my iPhone. On music more I get compilations, composers, and Genres. Somewhere on the iPhone is an audiobook I've downloaded but I can't find it. t

Composers, Genres but no longer Audiobooks. That clasification is absent from my iTunes as well. I have downloaded an audiobook to my IPhone and it shows in iTunes when I click on "On This iPhone" in ITunes but I can't find it on the iPhone itself. What to do?

It will only be where you put it.
If it is on the ipad then transfer it to your computer, File>Devices>Transfer Purchases, then sync it to your iphone

  • HT201272 Lost apps after software update

Has anyone lost apps when they downloaded the new software? I had a magazine subscription which I now don't have since updating my iPad.

They should be in the iTunes library on your computer.  Connect the device and sync what you would like to the device.
The only time I've heard of apps not re-appearing on a device after an update is when a user interrupts the upgrade process.  Have you tried a restore of the device using the backup created just prior to the update?

  • I lost my internet for four days and now my extreme will not do anything

After losing my internet connection for four days when it returned my airport extreme will not do anything. I tried resets and still nothing?

I would recommend that you do the following as a minimum:
Power-down the modem, AirPort base station, and computer(s).
(OPTIONAL) While all of the devices are powered-down, perform a "factory default" reset on the base station. This will get it back to its "out-of-the-box" configuration and make setting it up much easier, especially if you use the "Assist me" process within the AirPort Utility. (ref: Resetting an AirPort Base Station or Time Capsule)
After the base station resets, go ahead and power it back down.
Power-up the modem; wait at least 10-15 minutes.
Power-up the base station; wait at least 5-10 minutes.
    Power-up your computer(s).
In this basic configuration, computers connected to the base station, either by wire or wireless (as appropriate for the base station type), should now be able to access the Internet through the ISP's modem. Once Internet connectivity has been verified, you can use the AirPort Utility to configure the base station for wireless security and any other desired options.

Audiobooks are currently a one-time only download from the store, they won't appear in the Purchased tab - do you have a copy of it somwhere e.g. on your computer's iTunes or on a backup of your downloads ?

  • HT201272 bought audiobook, said it downloaded, but content did not

Recently purchased an audiobook through iTunes. The download was only about 5 seconds to my MacBook Pro.  It shows as downloaded in my library, but does not play.  There appears to be no content.  The store shows it as being downloaded.  What to do?

You contatc iTunes store support. They will let you re-download the book or provide you a refund if the issue persists:
