HT201272 Lost song needs to be downloaded again

My iTunes lost a song and I have tried to locate it in my media folders (it's not there) but have found it in my purchases. Can I download a previously downloaded song I purchased on iTunes when it already says "downloaded" next to the song?

I'm stuck with the same issue; and unfortunately, the search doesn't find any of the files.  What next?  Please help.

  • HT201272 Hi, i need to re-download my audi-books but the store still ask me to buy it again?

    Hi all,
I'm having a problem with re downloding my audi-books? can someone help?
Aslo, one of the downloaded audi books didnt work with me?
    can some recommend an advice?
    thanks,

Audiobooks are a one-time only download from the store, they won't show in the Purchased links for redownloading. If you don't have them on your computer's iTunes library, nor on your backup of your downloads, then for those that are still in your country's store you can try contacting iTunes Support and see if they will grant you a redownload : http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/contact/ - click on Contact iTunes Store Support on the right-hand side of the page, then Purchases, Billing & Redemption
If you had a problem with downloading one when you bought it then try the 'report a problem' page to contact iTunes Support : http://reportaproblem.apple.com
If the 'report a problem' link doesn't work then you can try contacting iTunes support via the above contact link.

  • Lost songs.  Can I download a second time from purchase history?

My daughter has been loading movies and songs on her Touch. I was helping her upgrade the software today and that caused it to crash and that forced us to restore the factory iPod settings. Which deletes all her songs and movies. That's when I discovered that she had been buying and downloading the songs directly into the iPod Touch and not synching with her laptop. So everything's gone. I can see her purchase history on the iTunes Store. Will they let her re-download previously purchased songs and movies? She's pretty upset.

The scenario you have described is EXACTLY why it's an extremely bad idea to rely on any iPod as the only backup for your library.
Store policy states that downloads are a one time deal & it's the USER'S RESPONSIBILITY to BACKUP important files. You can e-mail the store by means of the following customers service link, explain what has happened, & request that your daughter be granted a waiver for a one time re-download of her purchases. Please keep in mind that the store does not have to grant a re-download, but if your daughter is fortunate enough to get that waiver, it now becomes IMPERATIVE that she start some type of REGULAR BACKUP program for her music. Good Luck!

  • Why does my music appear on my iphone, but needs to be downloaded when I press "play"?

I have my itunes library set to sync all of my songs, and they all appear on my iphone. However, when I go to play a certain song, it cant. The song title fades and it need to be downloaded again. I just dont understand why because my iCloud is off. Please, someone help.

If you updated the phone and restored it from a backup, your music is not part of that backup data. It needs to be downloaded again:

  • Bought an album.  only part of each song now plays.  Do I need to download again?  Do I need to purchase again?

I purchased an album on Itunes and it only downloaded about 20 seconds of each song.  What do I need to do now?

Does the track play correctly in Quicktime Player?  If it does then it is an iTunes issue.  If it doesn't then it is possible the file was not completely downloaded, or is corrupt.  If you believe it is corrupt:
If you are in a country where re-downloading is possible (iTunes in the Cloud and iTunes Match Availability by Country - http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5085), delete the track (and the original file) and download again (Downloading [using iOS or computer] past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store - http://support.apple.com/kb/ht2519).  See tips on downloading in https://discussions.apple.com/message/19097773, especially unchecking the "Allow Simultaneous Downloads" box in the downloads tab of iTunes.
Select the store on the left side of iTunes.
Click on Purchased on the right side under Quick Links.
You can re-download your available previous purchases.

  • HT204074 I am using the same computer i used to make all my music downloads and when i try to re-download a song or album it already says "downloaded". i need to re-download because the backup was lost. my computer is still authorized on my account.

If you still have the 'pointers' to them in the Music part of your iTunes library (i.e. where you would click on them to play them) then iTunes will assume that you still have them and will show them as downloaded in the Purchased link under Quick Links on the iTunes store home page - if you try deleting one of them then it should get the cloud symbol for re-downloading, and you can do the same for the others.

  • Lost my FB app icon and can't download again as it is showing " open " what do I need to do

How do I get back an app, it is showing as " open " on the apple store, but is not on my screen. I tried downloading again but it is not letting me since it is open

Try this  - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.)

  • HT201272 Lost 111 songs, not found on my hard drive/computer anywhere. How can I recover the songs from previously purchased items? I get amn "i" in circle that says can't locate song, and when I try, it goes nowhere. How do I find the songs previously pu

I've been trying to locate my lost song files on my computer and in my iTunes purchased library. However, when I try to go through itunes purchased to redownload prevously purchased songs, it says they have all been downloaded to my computer. These are the songs that show up with a small "i" in a circle in my library. I click to "locate" but cannot find them anywhere. How can I find them and/or re-download these songs?

Tunes works through a database file which has a list of your tracks.  When you click on a track it looks up in the database which file it needs to play, then plays the file.  If something breaks this link then you get !  The two main ways to get ! are to move a file from where iTunes expects it to be, or to delete it altogether.  I don't know which has happened in your case.  You can try using Spotlight to find a file for the one referred to in a broken link.  If the files have been moved then they need to be moved back.  If they were deleted completely you will have to restore them from a backup or download them again from the iTunes Store and rebuild your library.

  • I have lost songs from HD, and want to re-download them. iTunes won't let me as they have already been downloaded to this computer. How can I do this?

I have lost songs from my HD (iTunes shows them as missing and although the artist folder and album name are on teh HD the songs aren't)
If I go into iTunes I can see I have bought them, and previously downloaded them, but I cannot 're-download them' as Itunes thinks they are there. The download songs not on the Mac doesn't list them, and there is no option to download them again.
Any ideas I either force a new download, or resent iTunes.

Delete the entries in the iTunes library.

  • How can I download my past purchases that are not in my icloud?  Somehow I lost songs that I purchased they say that the orginal files are gone but I did not delete them

How can I download past purchases that are not in my icloud?  Somehow I lost songs it says that the orginal files can not be located.  They are still available in the store but it doesn't give me the option to download them.  I did not delete any songs or files but I am missing a lot of files

The "missing file" error happens if the file is no longer where iTunes expects to find it. Possible causes are that you or some third party tool has moved, renamed or deleted the file, or that the drive it lives on has had a change of drive letter. It is also possible that iTunes has changed from expecting the files to be in the pre-iTunes 9 layout to post-iTunes 9 layout, or vice-versa, and so is looking in slightly the wrong place.
Select a track with an exclamation mark, use Ctrl-I to get info, then cancel when asked to try to locate the track. Look on the summary tab for the location that iTunes thinks the file should be. Now take a look around your hard drive(s). Hopefully you can locate the track in question. If a section of your library has simply been moved, or a drive letter has changed, it should be possible to reverse the actions.
If another application like Windows Media Player has moved/renamed the files then the chances are that subtle differences in naming strategies will make it hard to restore the media to the precise path that iTunes is expecting. In such cases, as long as the missing files can be found somewhere, you should be able to use my FindTracks script to reconnect them to iTunes. See this post for an explanation of how it works.
If you have to resort to trying to pull back the library from your iPod see Recover your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device.
Note also that if iTunes has an entry for a song, even if that entry is broken, then it won't offer that track for download since it "thinks" you already have it. If you can't find the original files or recover them from a device, then you may need to delete the broken entries, close iTunes and reopen before you can access the past purchases.
