HT201272 missing content from the cloud

I purchase movies all the time, but one day i noticed several titles missing from my library. I went into the cloud and downloaded them again, but one film is missing entirely. There appears to be no record of my purchase either. weird. What happens when you can't locate content that just has gone missing? Thanks friends. cher

Before hand? You can't tell for sure, but in general it is mostly all or nothing by each studio. Until not so long ago it was the case that you only got one download on anything purchased from iTunes. Why, because some of the content providers still haven't worked out that the old way only inconveniences their genuine customers, while doing nothing to prevent piracy. Either way you should look on the ability to redownload as an additional safeguard to your own backups, not a replacement for them.
See the user tip: Backup your iTunes for Windows library with SyncToy. Although the tip is aimed at your iTunes library the tool can be used to help you back up any data that you would hate to lose.

I am trying to store music for two different iPods on the same Windows 8 computer, and when I try and download content from the Cloud I get an error message. Is it possible to have two different Apple IDs on the same computer?

Unfortunately you've discovered too late how important it is to maintain an up-to-date backup of your iTunes library (and all other data of value).  You could, before wiping the drive, have considered making use of a commercial data recovery service that could (albeit at considerable cost) have extracted your library from the hard disk, even if virus infected.
In the absence of that option, you will need to restore the content of your library from its original sources:
Depending on your location, you may be able to re-download any iTunes Store purchases that are still available on the Store
Likewise, most digital purchases from Amazon (including auto-rip copies of purchased CDs) should be available from the Amazon Cloud and via the Amazon Music application - the same may be true of other commercial sources for digital downloads
Content imported from your CDs will have to imported again
The specific situation that you describe regarding the music imported from your friend's external HDD suggests that either the source is badly organized and/or originates from a source other than iTunes (other media players may use alternative tags for information like artist, title, album, etc. that are not wholly consistent with how iTunes handle these).  Without details of the issues you're seeing it is difficult to suggest a remedy other than going through the media album-by-album, track-by-track, and correcting the inconsistencies.
In the absence of a backup or access to the original library data there is no option other than painstakingly recreating your library as described above.  As you do so, you'll now realize how important creating and maintaining backups are - in my case I have at all times three separate duplicates of my library, in two different locations, where none is ever more than a week old compared to the content of my master library.

  • How do I delete content from the Cloud?

I have a huge amount of data on the Cloud.  I want to delete it.  How?  Can I just uninstall / disconnect the cloud?  Is there a method to delete from the Cloud?

Easiest way and a huge PIA: I downloaded the Cloud app to the desktop of my PC, then changed the backup schema to NOT back anything up.  Opened the Cloud and started deleting.
Now to Uninstall from the PC.

  • TS1389 I am missing content, from the authorization and deauthorization, because of the numerous power outages,I tunes should for a short timeforgive and let us reinstall missing things someone Please Help!

After numerous storms Iv'e had to replace internal power suppliers, somecases whole (used) pcs, in trying to replace Music content it does not show my purchaces, but it made sure I had to authorize the used pcs I had to buy now I still must buy more (daughters & sons & Mom) now what do I do since Im out of authorzations? and the missing media? Once before I made a whole album purchace only to find they charged me , downloaded the album with songs but no sound, I was able to call them, they walked me through the process and it was resolved. now I can't talk to anyone live, and my problems are not identified for solutions. any suggestions would be appreiciated, the one site I did come across said there were many issues mainly incompatible bit software and wanted to charge me 50.00 with no guarenty. .50.00 US$   I don't have that kind of money Im on Soc Sec SDI  Hence the used equiptment. any way Sorry for bending your ears      Please any solutions let me know Thanks  John     you could always get in touch  by Judge722@aol

I'm not suggesting any of this as a model, and your needs are different than mine.
    1) Go to Preferences -> Audio.  Under "Default Audio Tracks", Set "Mono Media: Mono".  Set "Stereo Media: Mono"  (Choices from the pull-down for both are Use File, Mono, Stereo, 5.1, Adaptive)
You can change these, but I don't. I am using both mono and stereo tracks. I set up a custom sequence with the particular combination of stereo and mono tracks I want.
    2) Set audio for clips by selecting all clips and going to Modify Clip -> Audio Channels Tab.  Under "Number of Audio Tracks" there should be a "1".  Under Channel Format it should read "Stereo".
I am not sending the audio to anyone else to edit further. I am doing a final stereo mix. If camera one is set up to record 2 mikes as a stereo track, then I leave that unchanged and put it onto a stereo track. If camera two is set up to record one mike onto channel 1 as ambient sound and channel 2 is a mono feed from a sound board, then I modify those clips as Preset Mono, 2 audio tracks, Channel format Mono, and that puts the left source channel (or whichever I choose) onto Audio track 1, channel 1 (of one), and right source channel onto audio track 2, channel 1.
    4) Delete all the existing audio tracks in the sequence and replace them all with mono tracks, so all tracks in the sequence are mono.
I modify the tracks while creating the sequence, and ultimately use a custom sequence.
Under my Effects Controls panel there is only Channel Volume, and nowhere to adjust the pan.
I'm using the mixer, not the effects control panel.

  • How do I take all my movies from the cloud and put them on an external hard drive

I am using an Apple TV and have bought about 145 movies.
The internet in my area is not very fast so I need to know how to put all of my movies on an external hard drive so i don't have to stream them through the internet.
All I would have to do is put the external hard drive on my shared devices.

    Greetings austinfromdellslow,
Welcome to the Apple Support Communities!
I understand that you would like to store your purchases movies on an external hard drive. To do this, first you will need to download your purchased content from the cloud to the iTunes library on your computer.
Download past purchases - Apple Support
Once your media folder is complete with the downloaded content, you can move that iTunes media folder to your external hard drive using the information in the attached article below.

  • HT201272 Downloading matched songs from the cloud...what am I missing?

I subscribed to iTunes Match and I want to download the matched songs/albums from the cloud but I can't figure out how...I'm sure I'm missing something simple, please help!

I had the same exact problem. I would set my imac to download a batch of songs by iTunes match, I'd go do something else and every time I would come back to a crashed computer. No "Force Quit" possible, just plain crashed. So I would start it back up and have a go again. Finally after several days, I realized that it was a handful of specific songs that were the culprit. Now I don't mind if there's a glitch with a few songs. It was the fact that it ALWAYS crashed my mac. Come on iTunes team!
I found this article on Apple's support siten which has you restart iTunes Match:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS4054?viewlocale=en_US&locale=en_US
It fixed a couple of the songs, but still the crashing on the remaining dozen. It appeared that the download was trying to reconnect with a previous attempt and for whatever reason, it caused it to crash. So after lots of trial and error, here is the solution for downloading a song that won't download (I don't think this is on Apple's support site):
    1. Start playing the song. The iTunes Match cloud server will be forced to reinitiate a new download.
    2. Watch the grey bar creep to the end of the load.
    3. Right-click and download the previously undownloadable track!
    Cheers, MiniC

  • HT201272 I cannot download from the cloud

Please point out my stupidity. I am in the process of trying to sync my library via iMatch but given a couple of problem songs, I have not completed a full sync. In the meantime I have noticed that when not on wi-fi, I can only play a limited number of songs on my iphone. When I go into the music app, there is no option either on wi-fi or off wi-fir to download music back on to my iphone as there was. I recently deleted songs locally from my phone to free up disk space.
This leaves me having payed for iMatch and I need to continue to resolve, but I cannot play off wi-fi, previous purchases and what has sync'd to iMatch. I want to download songs from the cloud back to my phone.
I know I'm missing something obvious!

    Hi AndyTheAnimal,
To address your first concern, certain content may not be compatible with iTunes Match. The following article has more information (in the Additional Information section):
    iTunes Store: Troubleshooting iTunes Match
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS4054
Also, regarding the issue of not being able to play unless connected to WiFi, I found the following information:
iTunes Match on iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5637
By default, when adding an iOS device to iTunes Match, downloading over a cellular network is not enabled*. To enable downloading over cellular for iTunes Match, choose Settings > iTunes & App Stores > Use Cellular Data > On.
*Fees may be associated with downloading over cellular networks; contact your wireless carrier for details.
    Thanks,
    Matt M.

  • I can't synch my iPhone with iTunes because the device does not show up in a device window when I plug it in...it's missing in action and thus I'm not able to add any content from the iTunes to my iPhone, e.g. podcasts

I can't synch my iPhone with iTunes because the device does not show up in a device window when I plug it in...it's missing in action and thus I'm not able to add any content from the iTunes to my iPhone, e.g. podcasts.   All the instructions on synching start with "find your device in the device window".  But what if you have no device window?

Missing "message" from above: The iPad "DGMTR" is synced with another iTunes library on DGMTR's MacBook Pro. Do you want to erase this iPad and sync with this iTunes library? An iPad can be synched with only one iTunes library at a time. Erasing and syncing replaces the contents of this iTunes library.
I thought the libraries were the same.

    Hello BwarsIG88
Check your purchase history by going to the iTunes Store and then click on purchases. From there you can see all your purchase history and download what you are missing.

  • Some music I purchased is missing from the cloud.

I went to purchase history under my account and the music shows up.  But when I look at Purchased on both iMac and iPad iTunes it is not there for me to download from the cloud.

People have been reporting that the free songs are not being shown but I haven't seen any clarification from Apple on whether it is intentional or not.
And remember, you don't "have" to use the cloud as long as you have your PC with all your music on it. They aren't taking away service you previously had or charging you for something that used to be free. I'm just glad that they are the first ones to actually re-download content you have already purchased indefinitely.

  • HT4914 My pc has crashed and lost a considerable amount of music and videos from iTunes the files are still in iTunes but are empty, will iTunes Match restore my content over the cloud?

My pc has crashed and lost a considerable amount of music and videos from iTunes the files are still in iTunes but are empty, will iTunes Match restore my content over the cloud?

Hm ... I guess I can't edit the post above. Anyway, I seem to have solved it by ...
    Quitting iTunes.
Going into Home / Music / iTunes, and renaming the file "iTunes Library.itl" to "iTunes Library (corrupt).itl".
Entering Time Machine, and restoring the "iTunes Library.itl" file from a few days ago. I went back two days, which seemed far enough back to be "before" the problem but not far enough back to have trouble with recent acquisitions.
Re-opening iTunes - and everything seemed to be back in order.
So that's fine for now. We'll see if the solution is stable.
Very, very tentative assignment of blame: I believe iTunes crashed earlier today after I'd synced photos from my iPhone to iPhoto, and then iTunes crashed while iPhoto was closing (and taking its sweet time doing so). If that was indeed the case, that's at least the second time in the past couple of months that trying to sync iPhone photos to iPhoto has caused me significant problems. (The last time led to 80% of my iPhone suddenly being occupied by "Other", and a full restore of the darn thing.)

  • HT201272 Getting error 3049 while trying to download past music purchases from the Cloud

My wife and I are trying to download all of our past purchases from the cloud. I got all of mine just fine, but my wife's music comes up with error 3049. I haven't found any documentation online of a similar error. Anyone know what that's about?
    Thank you!

Theoutsider is So right! I was at my witts end trying to figure out how to fix this. I tried Every troubleshooting options I could find on the internet. (updated drivers, changed the hosts (many times in fact) removed antivirus, checked fire wall, stopped fire wall, messed with the hosts some more (copy & paste it to the desktop) downloaded tinyumbrella, put the phone in DFU mode, watched many youtube videos, LOL and I'm sure I'm missing a few other steps i took too.. ) It was something as simple as making sure I was logged in under the right itunes account :| So glad I didn't pay apple the $69 they wanted to tell me I'm a dumb@ss.... Thanks for the tip theoutsider!! You just saved me! Wish I would have ran across your suggestion a day or two ago...

I'm trying to download a previously purchased audiobook from the cloud, however it only shows me music and none of the multiple audiobooks I've purchased!? Anyone with this same or similar issue?

  • 351 Missing iTunes Files On HDD/Recovering From The Cloud

Yesterday 8/10/13, I was attempting to update my iPod Classic with 12 new songs.  I did it the normal way when suddenly I noticed iTunes was deleting all my songs (19573 of them).  My library is on my external hard drive plus I had an icloud account and had backed them up to the cloud.  So I thought no big deal.  For whatever reason, 351 songs have lost their connection with iTunes.  They are still on my external hard drive.  I tried many of the recommended solutions from the forum ie. changing library locations, unchecking the keep files organized box, moving the itl/xml files.  Nothing will reconnect iTunes with the files en mass.  I can do one at a time, but really 351...I don't think so.
So here's the issue.  When I do locate files, iTunes only lets me do one at a time and it doesn't say,  "oh here's 350 others in the same file."  Nor can I find any information as to how to download my library from the cloud where I paid to have it stored for such an occassion (All 19573 songs).  The common thread with all the missing files that are actually on my external hard drive is that they have the words "file://localhost followed by the regular drive location.  I've read the forum recommendations for the localhost issue and none of the solutions worked for me.  Running a PC with Win7.
Appreciate a solution to this very frustrating and time consuming issue.  Spent almost 12 hours working on a fix yesterday.
    Thanks....

I thought I'd update my post regarding solution.  Since I couldn't resolve my 350 missing songs nor why my iPod was vacuumed of the 19K+ songs, I contacted Apple Support.  Fortunately for me, after hearing my sad tail of woe, I had excellent and timely response from the group.  I'll give you the abridged versioin.  The Apple Support tech supervisor contacted a software engineer who restored my iCloud file exactly as I had left it.  WHOOOAAAA!  I was able to download my entire library from the cloud, something I didn't expect that I'd have to do so quickly.  It only took 4 days to complete the download.  Running the PC about 8-10 hours a day exclusively for the purpose of downloading.  I built a new folder and put all the "fresh" downloads in it.  Uh, oh....my file was 113+/- GB when I uploaded and it's now 158.99GB.  When iTunes matched on my music, I received an upgraded file as advertised.  Well that's good and bad news.  The good is that music file now has enhanced sound quality.  The bad is that my file has gained almost 49GB.  As far as "streaming" from the cloud, no issue; however, I have the 160GB iPod Classic and guess what?  My music won't fit.  So I adjusted the iPod setting in iTunes to 192KB to allow my music to "fit" on the iPod.  So, when streaming I get great quality and when listening to the iPod, not so much.  I did an iPod restore and started the transfer.  This normally takes about 3 hours.  After 3+ hours only about 500 songs transferred.  Something is definately wrong.  The only difference was, I unchecked keeping my files organized in my new library.  Call me skiddish.  After several tries, I stopped the transfer.  I made a secondary copy of my library onto my 1TB external drive...now I have 3 copies, the original and 2 enhanced.  Can't ever have too many, right?  Now I set the "Keep My Music Organized" prompt for one of my enhanced file copies and away iTunes went, organizing the music.  So I'm now at the point of attempting another transfer.  Oh yeah, I got a udpated version of iTunes this a.m. 11.0.5.  Hopefully, I'll get my normal transfer to iPod time of around 3 hours.  Will update the post when done.
