HT201272 Mountain Lion purchase re-download
Where can I re-download my Mountain Lion purchase? Can't find the link anywhere but I do see the purchase made.
You re-download by opening the App Store and signing in with the Apple ID used to purchase the software. Then go to your Purchases page to locate the Mountain Lion installer. Might I suggest:
Make Your Own Mountain/Lion Installer
1. After downloading Mountain/Lion you must first save the Install Mac OS X Mountain/
Lion application. After Mountain/Lion downloads DO NOT click on the Install button.
Go to your Applications folder and make a copy of the Mountain/Lion installer. Move
the copy into your Downloads folder. Now you can click on the Install button. You
must do this because the installer deletes itself automatically when it finishes
installing.
2. Get a USB flash drive that is at least 8 GBs. Prep this flash drive as follows:
a. Open Disk Utility in your Utilities folder.
b. After DU loads select your flash drive (this is the entry with the mfgr.'s ID and size) from the left
side list. Click on the Partition tab in the DU main window.
c. Under the Volume Scheme heading set the number of partitions from the drop down menu to one.
Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Options button, set the
partition scheme to GUID then click on the OK button. Click on the Partition button and wait until
the process has completed.
d. Select the volume you just created (this is the sub-entry under the drive entry) from the left side
list. Click on the Erase tab in the DU main window.
e. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Options button, check the
button for Zero Data and click on OK to return to the Erase window.
f. Click on the Erase button. The format process can take up to an hour depending upon the flash
drive size.
3. Locate the saved Mountain/Lion installer in your Downloads folder. CTRL- or RIGHT-click on the installer and select Show Package Contents from the contextual menu. Double-click on the Contents folder to open it. Double-click on the SharedSupport folder. In this folder you will see a disc image named InstallESD.dmg.
4. Plug in your freshly prepared USB flash drive. You are going to clone the content of the InstallESD.dmg disc image to the flash drive as follows:
a. Double-click on the InstallESD.dmg file to mount it on your Desktop.
b. Open Disk Utility.
c. Select the USB flash drive from the left side list.
d. Click on the Restore tab in the DU main window.
e. Select the USB flash drive volume from the left side list and drag it to the Destination entry field.
f. Drag the mounted disc icon from the Desktop into the Source entry field.
g. Double-check you got it right, then click on the Restore button.
When the clone is completed you have a fully bootable installer that you can use without having to re-download Mountain/Lion.
Note: The term Mountain/Lion used above means Lion or Mountain Lion.
As an alternative to the above (you still have to do your own download of Lion/Mountain Lion) you can try using Lion DiskMaker 2.0 that automates the process of Steps 2 through 4.

Mountain Lion purchased from Mac store will not download. 'Downloading' simply stays greyed out for hours. Nothing I do changes it. I am running OS 10.6.8 on a 2010 Mac Mini. What do I do now?
If you are looking at the front page of the App Store and you are seeing the "downloading" message on the right under Quick Links.
Try this... Go into the "Purchases" section in the top bar of the App Store find ML in the list you are presented with. Does it say Resume? If so click the button and it will change to Pause. You may have paused it previously and forgot.
If not then do as Csound1 suggested and simply wait for it to finish

Mountain Lion will not download. App just says "download" on purchase button, but nothing happens. Any ideas?
My download took many many hours. Not sure if that is because of our ISP or load on the network. I also thought nothing was happening for my download. Try this:
Open App Store,
click on Purchased
You'll see Mountain Lion being downloaded and it will show the progress and estimated time to complete.
Take deep breaths and be patient. -
The App store accepts my Mountain Lion purchase and sends me a receipt, but the download never happens and is "waiting"...
Hi Why not just buy an iTunes card until your problem is sorted In uk they are £15.00 / £25.00/£50.00 Just enter readeem code into iTunes. Cheers Brian

I bought and was downloading Mountain Lion but the download stalled. What do I do?
What do you see in the Mac App Store > Purchases section? The dl could just be paused, in which case you can resume it and carry on.
If it doesn't list it there then search your Mac for the installer incase it finished in the background and didn't start the installer automatically.
Finally, if you don't see it anywhere and you're sure it hasn't finished and actually updated without you realising it, you can email Apple's iTunes support team and they can either put it back in your download queue to try again or regrant you the download so you can 'buy' it again without having to pay.

Mountain lion will not download thru the apps store. It has been purchased and redeemed. I have set my energy settings appropriately so computer will not turn off during download as Verizon offers a connection that is very slow. I have set the display to go to sleep (which I have set so I have to sign in again). When I sign in again, Mountain Lion OSX has disappeared from the launchpad. I have tried this several times. I do have Norton Internet Security on my Mac Air. I turned off the idle time scan on the Norton and tried again. Same results. Anyone?
Ask anyone around here, and they will tell you quite differently. AV software will slow down your computer, can be incompatible with software you use, can cause kernel panics and other problems. It is unnecessay since OS X has it's own protection built-in. AV software can no more tell the difference between safe and unsafe sites on your browser than could an elephant.
But, hey, who am I to argue with your tech person? Please, don't let me sway your opinion. How about a visit to:
Helpful Links Regarding Malware Protection
An excellent link to read is Tom Reed's Mac Malware Guide.
Also, visit The XLab FAQs and read Detecting and avoiding malware and spyware.

If you require anti-virus protection I recommend using VirusBarrier Express 1.1.6 or Dr.Web Light both from the App Store. They're both free, and since they're from the App Store, they won't destabilize the system. (Thank you to Thomas Reed for these recommendations.) -
how long does mountain lion take to download and where does it say how much it has left mine just says downloading ?
It's totally dependent on your broadband speed.
It took me about 45 minutes to download, but I have a reasonably fast connection.
It will often say in the purchased pane of the Mac App Store how much longer it will take. -
Mountain Lion won't download. Any help?
Hi,
I have purchased mountain lion 3 days ago but I can not download since then. I see the icon saying "waiting" but there is not any progress.
How can I fix this?
Thanks a lot[Assumption: You have functional Internet connection to your ISP and have Mountain Lion running by now.] If not:
Stop the indicated "waiting" dialog. Logout of the App Store.
Reboot.
Sign back into the App Store and with the option key depressed, choose purchases. The Mountain Lion purchase should have an "install" button indicated. Try again. -

Hey cwicke11,
Try installing mountain lion in a new user. It will install on all users anyways.
To create a new user click >System Prefrences>Users & Groups(Or Accounts)>Unlock the lock in the lower left hand corner and click the plus above it. Name the user anything you want you can get rid of that user later.
Just log into new user and open the App store. Sign in with your Apple ID and go into the "Purchases" tab at the top. Download Mountain Lion from there and you should be good.

How to configure Mail app on mountain lion to not download all my emails in hotmail server. I need only just 1-2 weeks
Try going to the web based site and see if you can set up a temporary folder there. Move anything you don't want to download to that folder.

I just downloaded the newest update for mountain lion. After downloading any restarting for installation, I got a message stating that the update cannot be installed due to an error. Yet when I check I have version 10..8.3 and safari version 6.0.3, which the update was for. Does this mean that the update is iinstalled and the message was incorrect?

I just bought the Imac on Monday, which was placed on the shelf on Saturday. Its now Thursday and I have to update the machine. Heck I haven't even bought the printer or the new desk for all this stuff....ha ha.
Good timing! Oh well, at least you shouldn't have to update again for a while. It will be nice kickstarting your Mac with the very latest System Update knowing any hiccups from 10.8.2 would have been ironed out if they were going to affect your workflow at all.
Cheers and Happy Computing

Mountain Lion will not download to my iMac, "The product distribution file could not be verified. It may be damaged or was not signed."
I have this problem also. I was able to download Mountain Lion to my daughter's Mac Mini without any trouble. However, I can't download this to my MacBook Pro. I have read other sites that suggest VirusBarrier is the problem and recommend turning it off in VirusBarrier>Preferences>Advanced. I have tried this and it still doesn't work, although some report that it has worked for them.

Mountain lion too long download
Mountain Lion has been downloading on my computer for nearly 5 hours. Is this typical?
Yes that's right it's also took me five hours to download mountain lion
It's probably because the Apple servers are experimenting a lot of traffic at the moment.
Hope this helps

How long does mountain lion take to download?
On average how long does mountain lion take to download from the app store?
Always keep an eye on 'More like this', the column to the right of your initial post. You will often find answers and direct leads to your questions there.
In fact it relates to your ISP and the download speeds you have. I believe it is 4GB in size.
