HT201272 Re-Download Purchased Items - Recurring Loop

Hi there
I have 2 ipod touch's, and have downloaded the toy story toons free 12 days of christmas bundle on one of the devices. However, when I try to do it from purchases on the 2nd device, it gives me the message about going to purchases to redownladed already purchased items, where I already am! I click the cloud icon, and it gives me the message again about going to the purchased aread in itunes, where I already am.
Tried looking on google, to no avail. Closed the app, rebooted the devices etc, still no dice.
Any ideas?
Thanks
Ben

Chris explained the "categories" part. When you pick on (say Music), and then click on Purchased under Quick Links, then Songs or Albums (choose one), then if you click on "All" you should see all Songs or Albums purchased under your Apple/iTunes ID. If you click on "Not in My Library", you should see all of the items you have purchased but not yet downloaded to the computer you are doing the search on. They all have a little cloud on them that you can click to download them (or you can click on Download All to download all of them):
You can also see all of your Music, Movies, TV Shows, and Books purchases (both ones that are on the computer and ones in iTunes in the Cloud) by going to one of those categories in your library, clicking on View on the top menu, and then clicking on "Show Music (or TV Shows, etc.) in the Cloud". Items not currently in residence in your library will have a little cloud in the upper right-hand corner. Also, your library list in the sidebar will show a little cloud next to the list item if you have purchases that are not currently in the library:

I have a windows pc.  How can I download purchased items which have become corrupted on my PC.  I can't use iCloud without an Apple device.  I have gone into purchased but next to each title it merely says 'downloaded'.  I need to download them again.  It will cost a fortune to re-purchase the corrupted music!

I tried that but it just shows 'downloaded'.  There is no little cloud next to that wording.  On an Itunes help page it shows a 'library icon' once you have logged in but that does not appear on my version of ITunes which is 11.1.  I have lost so many peices of music!  Is this some ploy by Apple to get you to buy them all over again??  Thanks for you response, if you can think of anything else I would be most grateful

  • My iphone 5 will not sync with my macbook pro.  it says my computer is no longer authorized to download purchased items from the iphone

my iphone 5 will not sync with my macbook pro.  it says my computer is no longer authorized to download purchased items from the iphone.  However, when I go to authorize my computer, it says it is already authorized.  How do I fix this?

You can't change the Apple ID that the Authorize dialog comes up with by default. It's showing you that Apple ID for a reason: it means that the items you want to play were purchased using that Apple ID and therefore you need to authorize your computer with that Apple ID. Changing the Apple ID given completely defeats the entire purpose.
If you don't know the password to the given Apple ID, then you will no longer be able to play those items.

The simplest way to transfer everything is to copy the entire /Music/iTunes/ folder from old computer to /Music/ on new computer.

Did you fail to back up your purchases?
If so, then they are gone.

  • While downloading purchased items, message pops 'There was an error downloading some purchased items stopped err = 3259'

While downloading purchased items, message pops 'There was an error downloading some purchased items stopped err = 3259'

You'll have to check your security software settings, iTunes has to be able to connect to Apple servers during the download process.

Never mind - I didn't realize that I just needed to wait a while for the Cloud stuff to cycle through and load. Solved!

  • "Problems with downloading purchased items......."

I am having problems with a couple of recent downloads. It happened once recently with the purchase of 4 individual songs. Somehow they eventually downloaded. Not sure how. Now, this past week, I downloaded 2 individual songs from the itunes music store, with no problem, then purchased an album and got through downloading two songs before I began to get the same "problem" window that I got before. The window would pop up and read, "There were problems downloading purchased items. Please check your connection and try again." That was about it. I have downloaded to my current set up for a long time. I have an external hard drive with about 106G of music on it. I have another couple of gigs left. I have the external set up as my itunes music folder in the advanced preference window, etc. I just can't figure out why this is happening and there is little support from Apple. FAQs are not helping. Anybody have any advice? Thanks, in advance. J

    Hi,
Open download window - down arrow top right. What does this show? If it shows track name with "error" shown. Select all and delete.
Now try to see if you can redownload by going itunes store > purchased.

  • Re-downloading purchased items from Itunes

I had my PC repaired recently and lost all of my downloaded music and TV shows that were purchased from the Itunes store. Anyone knw how I re-download the purchased items on my new PC?

Where is your backup copy? This is basic.
"PRODUCTS CAN BE DOWNLOADED ONLY ONCE; AFTER BEING DOWNLOADED, THEY CANNOT BE REPLACED IF LOST FOR ANY REASON. YOU SHALL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR BACKING UP YOUR OWN SYSTEM, INCLUDING ANY PRODUCTS PURCHASED OR RENTED FROM THE ITUNES STORE THAT ARE STORED IN YOUR SYSTEM."
    http://www.apple.com/legal/itunes/us/terms.html#SERVICE
As Niel suggests, you can ask for an exception, but they are not obligated to allow.
You can transfer itunes purchases from an ipod: File>Transfer Purchases

  • Problems downloading purchased items - please help!

I keep getting error 37 when I try to download music.  The songs I have purchased are in my "downloads" list, but they will not download.
The error message on my screen says, "There was a problem downloading some of your purchased items."  When I expand this message the list of songs appears, alongside each song it says that the file name may be invalid or too long.
I have been emailing Apple back and forth for days, I get a different advisor replying every time, they obviously don't read the email trail and therefore aren't aware of the troubleshooting steps I've tried so far - basically all of them!  They keep sending me duplicate information and I'm now very fed up and frustrated with Apple.
I tried to phone them, was put on hold for 40 mins before speaking to a less than helpful man for a few moments before the call was cut off.
I have tried: Itunes diagnostics (connections are fine), turning off Windows Firewall, ensuring I have the latest version of Itunes, msconfig.  They said they had removed the pending downloads from my account and added fresh copies, but this did not work either.
They also said that if I go to the new "Purchased" sections of the Itunes store, I would be able to dowload my previously purchased items, however, this didn't work because the songs had "dowloaded" next to them, so downloading wasn't an option.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I'd take iTune's word for it and assume the file somehow has become corrupted.  I would suggest two things.
    (1) try to play the song on the computer where it is stored locally (where you uploaded it to the cloud from)  Just want to be certain that your copy will play.
    (2) delete the song from your library and the cloud (just highlight it, hit the delete key)  When asked if you want to put it in the trash, say no.  When you are asked if you want to delete from the cloud, say yes.
    (3) go to the store menu and select Update iTunes Match.
    (4) go to another computer or iOS device and confirm that the song no longer appears (you shouldn't even see the title, not grayed out, just not there).
    (5) go back and add the track back in to your library, hit update iTunes match and watch the progress bar to be certain you see the track title appear - this will help you confirm that the file is actually uploading.  Sometimes iTunes match just re-links to the old file in the cloud and that's sure not what you want!
    (6) see if the track will play now.
"check for available downloads" only has to do with purchases you made.  I don't think it's relevant to the issue you're describing.
Sorry I should have mentioned that the previous suggestion to take the slash out of the title still applies.  I would rename it by doing a get info. on it in iTunes before I turned Match back on and uploaded a fresh copy.

  • Can't download purchased item due to app store ID problem

OS X Mountain Lion is in my list of purchased apps. I ordered it through the Apple online store, got the e-mail and PDF, and downloaded the ML installer. I used my Apple ID that I use for everything, iTunes, App Store and online store.
I recently tried to download it again, while logged in to that ID, and the idiot App Store asks me to sign in, with the ID already filled in with a different ID that I did not use to purchase the software. So I am unable to download it. I may have had the ID in question at some time, but long enough ago that I don't remember ever having or using it. If I log in with that ID, Mountain Lion is not in the list of purchased software.
So how does tihs happen, and how can it be fixed? If Apple wants to force feed everything through the App Store, it should work correctly.

I know that I did not use a different ID to purchase Mountain Lion from the Apple Store. And when I look at purchases under that account, it is there.
But your tip was a good one: apparently I downloaded it in 2012 using an up-to-date code, and it is there hidden in that old account. Meanwhile the App Store does NOT permit me to download the version I purchased recently, which is bizarre, because the App Store shows it in my main account as a purchased item. Too bad I didn't remember ever getting it before, let alone that it was under another ID, before shelling out another $20 to Apple.

  • Error when trying to download purchased items

Hello, when I am trying to download my purchased items, I get an error message "Unable to check for available downloads
The itunes store is temporally unavailable. Please check again later."
I can use the store however. When I ran itunes network diagnostics nothing shows up as being wrong....
    Thanks for any help

The more I read online the more it seems like this is probably going to be some sort of database issue Itunes is having, I have submitted an email support request, and guess I'll just have to wait to get get what I've paid for until some tech gets around to fixing it.
