HT201272 There is no "authorize this computer" on  my iTunes

I am trying to get my past purchases on my new computer and there is no place to "authorize" my computer on the iTunes store.  The instructions say to click on that button.  Please help.

Open itunes.
Look at the top of your computer screen for the word "Store".  Click it.
Then look for Authorize.  Click it.

  • TS1277 I have windows 8; at the itunes store there is no "authorize this computer" option available.  how do I authorize my computer?

I have a new windows 8 pc.  I am trying to authorize my computer at the itunes store.  I looked up the tutorial.  It says to go to the itunes store and select the "authorize this computer".  there is no "authorize this computer" to select.  What do I do?

There's a couple of ways to get through to the authorisation controls in the 11.0.x versions.
The control is still in the Store menu, but first (if you're using iTunes versions 11.0.x) you might need to bring up the menu bar to see the Store menu.
If you're using 11.0.x, click on the wee boxy icon up in the top-left corner of your iTunes to see the "Show Menu Bar" control, as per the following screenshot:
Then you'll find the control in the Store menu:
Alternatively, if you don't want to bring up the menu bar, it's still possible to get into the authorise controls via nested menus accessible from the wee boxy icon. Here's a screenshot of where to find them:

  • HT1420 Authorize this Computer on the iTune main menu?  Ah...nope?  Support?  Take a look at that.

The Support site directs the user to look for the "Authorize thie Computer" on the iTune main site.  Of course it isn't there.  Nor is the "Advanced" link that older versions are supposed to have.  Where is this magic link?  Is it under some other link?

In iTunes you use the Authorize This Computer or De-authorize This Computer option under the Store menu in iTunes' menubar. For Windows use the ALT-S keys to access it. Or turn on Windows 7 and 8 iTunes menus: iTunes- Turning on iTunes menus in Windows 8 and 7.

You can de-authorize individual computers, but only by using those computers. The only other option is to "de-authorize all" from your iTunes account.
      1. Open iTunes on a computer
      2. From the Store menu, select "View my Account..."
      3. Sign in with your Apple ID and password.
      4. Under "Computer Authorizations" select "De-authorize All".
      5. Authorize each computer you still have, as you may require.
You may only do this once per year.
After you "de-authorize all" your authorized computers, re-authorize each one as required.
If you have de-authorized all computers and need to do it again, but your year has not elapsed, then contact: Apple - Support - iTunes - Contact Us.

  • HT1420 How do I authorise my computer for iTunes when there is no "authorize this computer" or Advanced menu ?  When Apple say Store menu do they mean from the top of the store when logged in ?

Where is the iTunes Store menu that has Authorize this Computer located and/or Advanced menu ? How do I authorise my computer for iTunes if I cannot find Authorize this Computer or Advanced menu ?  Thank you.

It's done via the Store drop-down menu at the top of iTunes - if you are using iTunes 11 on a PC then pressing Alt-S should get the Store menu to appear e.g. (screenshot is from a Mac, but it should be similar on a PC) :

I want to download my purchases from the cloud, but it will not let me until I authorize my computer, which I can't figure out how to do.

If the computer's running Mac OS X, move the cursor to the very top of the computer's screen, click on Store, and choose Authorize this Computer.
If the computer's running Windows, press the Alt and S keys and choose Authorize this Computer, or click here, follow the instructions, click on Store in the menu bar, and choose Authorize this Computer.

I'm trying to authorize a new computer from the itunes store.  The tutorial says to click on the "authorize this computer" button from the itunes store, but I cannot find it!  So frustrating!

It is not in the iTunes Store...
    Open iTunes...
If you're using iTunes 11 click on the box icon in the top-left corner to see the " Show Menu Bar "
and from the Menu Bar select Store...
From the Store menu, choose Authorize This Computer.
(In earlier versions of iTunes, access this option from the Advanced menu).
When prompted, enter your Apple ID and password, then click Authorize.

  • I can't find the "Authorize This Computer" button on itunes for my iMac.

Does anyone know where I can find it? Im trying to connect my ipod touch to my new imac and i cant seem to figure out how to do it.
    Thanks!

You don't need to be in the store but you do have to have iTunes running.
Just mouse over the menu bar (Top of screen ) to Store and in the pull down menu select
    "authorize this computer"
You are presented with a new window into which you add your Apple ID credentials and click the Authoize radio button.
So long as your are connected to the internet a small background script runs and confirms completion.
You can have up to 5 different computers authorised at any one time.

  • Authorize this computer to play iTunes songs not working so well

I've downloaded a few of the "Free" songs from the iTunes Store and later when I go to listen to them I get a window to log in and authorize my computer to play the song. Problem is, I am logged in. And even if I log in again, I then get a message that says my computer is already authorized.
Now the fun part. Sometimes after I log in again the song will start playing. Other times, no luck.
I have tried restarting the computer and iTunes and neither seems to improve the problem. I also recently updated iTunes to version 8.0.1.
    Thoughts?
    Thanks,
    TJ

Several users have reported this issue since the release of iTunes 8. Some are able to sort out the problem temporarily by restarting iTunes, or by restarting the computer. I'd suggest the section of this document regarding removing the SC Info folder:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1389
Beyond that, it doesn't hurt to report the issue to iTunes Store customer service:
    http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/store/browser/
    Chef_206,
I think you might be experiencing something different, which is actually more or less expected behavior of iTunes. In your iTunes program, click your Store menu at the top and choose View my Account. Enter your account info, and when you get to the Apple Account Info page you should see a button that says "Deauthorize All." Click this button, which deauthorizes all computers (whether they be 5 tangible machines, or one machine taking up several authorizations) and then go back and see if you can authorize your desired computer(s).
