I have a $10 iTunes card, which I redeemed successfully. I had tried to purchase an app worth $1.99 and it asked for my credit card information! All I did was redeem it and this was my first attempt to purchase something. I suppose something was wrong, because it had asked for the credit card info. Is this normal? Has my card been redeemed properly? Am I being scammed?

    You can't merge accounts. But you can check your purchase history:

    So i sent a $25 itunes gift card to my friend through his email from my iphone and when he tried to purchase an app on both his phone and ipad 2 it is telling him to put in a sercurity code and answer his security questions when all he's trying to do is redeem the money to purchase the app!! Help me so i can help him lol

    -If there is no link on the page, then you didn't establish a rescue email address.  Contact AppleCare at 800.694.7466 (If you are in the US), and ask for account security.  You will need to answer some questions to verify your identity, AND you will need access to a computer to generate a temporary support pin.

  • Error 504 when trying to purchase an app

    I was trying to purchase personal assistant and Vlingo and I keep getting that error.
    I select purchase, log into paypal, select buy now again and it starts downloading. Then I get the system error 504.
    Free apps download just fine.
    I'm running OS 4.7
    I've tried pulling the battery
    I've tried removing app world and re-installing it

    I resolved this problem for myself.  I don't if it was the reason but I had a PayPal account that I had for years, only recently adding a debit/credit card as the credit card pay option.
    I created a new paypal account with a different email address and 1st added a credit card (AMEX to be precise) to fund the account.  Verified the account through email, changed the login in MyWorld (don't know if that was necessary).
    I purchased an app, with no 504 errors!!!!

    Check that the email address is correct for your login. You'd be surprised how many times I've seen people see the prompt and just go with a password and not realize that the email address was wrong.
    Aside from that, you can try resetting your password via the iForgot app.
    If you forgot your password, you can easily recover or reset it using iForgot. For security reasons, Apple cannot reset your password for you. To protect yourself against unauthorized purchases to your credit card, do not give out your password to anyone.
    NOTE: If you attempt to sign in to the Apple Online Store numerous times with the wrong password, you will see the following error message: “This Apple ID has been disabled for security reasons." To reset your account, use iForgot.

    Part of the validation for credit cards is that they need to be registered to exactly the same name and address that you have on your iTunes account, which prepaid cards tend not to be. Do you have a proper credit card that you could use ? Or are iTunes gift cards available in your country so that you could try using them as your payment method ?
    Until you have a valid payment method on your account and what you owe iTunes has been paid off then you won't be able to download any item from the store, including free apps (and updates to apps).
