  • Iphone 4, purhcased 4/12, reluctant to turn on after fully expended battery in the past,  now will not power on, communicate w/ itunes, tried restore -error 3194, then error 1600.  help me please...do I have a warranty?

I purchased an Iphone 4 in April of 2012.  I always keep it on and charge it every night.  I have had some trouble turning, a couple of times, in the past.  It was simply reluctant to turn on after allowing the battery to be completely expended and has behaved the same way after being manually turned off.  I have again allowed the battery to completly die and turn off the phone.   This time it will not turn on at all.  I have tried various combinations of pressing and holding home and power to no avail.  I plugged it in to the computer, but Itunes will not recognize it as my phone.  Itunes is labeling it "Iphone" and has requested that I restore the phone in order to use it with Itunes.  Itunes states that "has detected an Iphone in recovery mode".  I, reluctantly, attempted to restore the phone.  After waiting quite a while on a "software update" to download, it said preparing Iphone for restore and then said "unable to restore Iphone, unknown error - 3194".  I read, online, that I needed the most recent version of itunes in order to restore.  So I upgraded Itunes and restarted the compluter.  On the second, and all subsequent attempts to complete the restoration, I am prompted with a message stating "unable to restore IPhone, unknown error - 1600".  My computer also attempted, and I believe, successfully, installed new device driver software for iphone4 (DFU mode).  Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.  Also is my phone, purchased 4/12, under any service or replacement warranty.  I truly feel it should be easier to turn on and I did not even want to restore the phone, I just need to use it.
    Thank you,
    Geoffrey

I am reading on this site about the error I am getting and it wants me to change some files that I am not comfortable messing with. Mainly because it is like a foreign language. Will the store do this for me or tell me if it is neccessary?

  • IPhone 3GS won't restore (error 1600 or "not eligible for this build") no apple logo, recognised in DFU mode.

My iPhone 3GS decided to turn itself off (on 30% battery) yesterday and hasn't turned on since. After some testing (hard resets, DFU mode), tiny umbrella recognises it in DFU mode, as does Redsn0w. neither devices can successfully kick the phone out of the restore loop.
The screen stays blank throughout, no apple logo, connect to itunes logo etc. however every now and then the charging sign will appear (empty battery with a little bit filled (red)). even if i unplug it from my iMac the charging symbol stays there.
once I get the phone in DFU mode iTunes recognises that there is a phone connected that needs to be restored, it doesn't matter if I click restore or option + restore the process will fail on Error 1600 or "this device is not eligible for this build".
My iPhone is not unlocked or jailbroken. Before the incident with the coffee I managed to synchronize and update its firmware as indicated by iTunes. The latest update for my iPhone was iOS 5 firmware.  My intent is not to unlock or jailbrake the device, just to make it work again.
Here are some things I've tried since:
    1. Exiting recovery mode via Tinyumbrella
    2. Entering DFU mode via Redsn0w
    3. Shift + Restore and using firmwares from 5.0 to 5.0.1 to upgrade my iPhone.
    4. Remove hosts to my Host file (in relation to the "device not eligible for this build" issue)
    5. Try redsn0w and use IPSW to see if it is recognized by iTunes (iTunes recognizes the iPhone but then at the very last minute shows error 1600.
    6. Save SHSH files and use Tinyumbrella to uploaded them to my iPhone.
I would really appreciate if someone can help me on this. I might be doing something wrong or maybe not even considering the right steps to solve this issue. I don't know if there are missing drivers that are preventing the device from communicating with iTunes properly. Of some tool that can be used to correct this problem. It may or may not be fixable but I think it is worth the try.
    Thanks very much.

please ignore the comment about coffee. Someone posted a very similar question apart from he spilt coffee on his phone, I didn't.

If the issue is not resolved by USB isolation troubleshooting, and another computer is not available, try these steps to resolve the issue:
Connect the device to iTunes, confirm that the device is in Recovery Mode. If it's not in Recovery Mode, put it into Recovery Mode.
Restore and wait for the error.
    When prompted, click OK.
Close and reopen iTunes while the device remains connected.
The device should now be recognized in Recovery Mode again.

  • IPad Restore Error 1600, 1601.

Hi, receiving errors 1600, 1601 when restoring iPad1 despite using latest iTunes, OSX and troubleshooting USB connections and ports. Any ideas people? Thanks!

I just experienced the same errors on a restore, tried multiple times.  Someone came up with the suggestion to try it on another machine.  I loaded iTunes on an older PC, attached my iPad and it started and finished in short order the restore.  I moved the restore file from the original pc to the older one in the same location as it was on the unit that gave me the errors.  Then when it worked, it attached to the original machine and synced my apps back that were in that iTunes version.

  • Error 1600

My Touch has frozen and will not turn on. I am getting an error 1600 when trying to restore. Does anyone have any ideas?

Do a DFU restore. Hold down Home+Power for 10 seconds. Then release Power, hold home for 10 seconds. Hold down option (or shift with windows) while hitting restore, select fw file and restore.

  • Ipad 2-Wifi cannot be restored or turned on, error 1600

About a week and a half ago, I was using my iPad 2 as normal. Later that day I went to use it and the screen would not come on. My device is about 2 months out of warranty. Apple doesn't seem to care about repairing it so I figured I'd turn to you guys. I took it to the store and attempted to get phone support. The apple "genius" just told me since it was out of warranty, I had no choice but to replace it for $250. The phone tech basically gave me the same run around. I know this thing is fixable. I have spent probably 10-15 hours researching the internet for answers.
So when I plug the device into the computer, iTunes detects it as being an iPad 2 and that it is in recovery mode. I have tried this on multiple computers both windows and mac. Previously the device was running 6.1.2, but since Apple feels they no longer need that, I have downloaded 6.1.3. I attempt to restore it, but it just gives me error 1600. Like I said, I've tried multiple computers, along with several different sets of cables, and usb ports. Please help!

  • HT201210 Ipad 4 rebooted automatically numerous times...froze up...hard restarted using home and power...put itself into restore mode "connect to iTunes"...I did this but I get error '1600' and can't perform restore...i've exhausted all fix options for '1

Hi folks as in the title:
My Ipad 4 froze up and rebooted automatically numerous times.
It then immediately froze up completely and didn't try and reboot itself.
I then hard restarted the device using the home and power buttons simultaneously.
I got the Apple logo and saw my desktop for a moment and then it froze up.
Hard rebooted again only this time I saw "connect to iTunes".
I connected the device to my MBP and iTunes where I was told it was in restore mode.
I followed the on-screen instructions in iTunes to restore the device.
I spent 15minutes downloading the necessary files etc only for the restore to fail through error code '1600'.
I explored this error code in Apple support and followed all Apple's suggestions, and subsequently tried the restore each time.
I have now exhausted all fix options for '1600'...and I can't even get 'connect to iTunes message' on my iPad device now.
Any suggestions would be welcome please?
    Kind regards.

    Thanks for the response Demo.
Unfortunately I don't have another computer with which to try a restore from.
I've tried to reboot the iPad again using the sleep and home buttons (whilst it is unplugged from my MBP) and it remains completely lifeless. I know there is 80% battery life in the device as I had it charging when it malfunctioned.
I've tried recovery mode through iTunes in excess of 15 times now all yielding the same and inevitable result of 'error 1600'.
I think it's time to get to know the team at my local Apple store...
