HT201274 I my phone has a virus will this help

My iPhone is acting weird so I think it is a virus so will restoring all content and setting help?

There are no viruses affecting legit iphones.  You don't have a virus.
Basics troubleshooting from the manual are restart, reset, restore.

I opened a spam e-mail, I think my phone has a virus how do I get it off? HELP!

It was an email about a video I posted on youtube. It said "the video you posted under your account has been approved and posted. Click link to see the video" but I didn't post any video so I clicked the link on my phone and it took me to a page that was not youtube so I immediately closed the window went to my settings and deleted cookies and history. Later I tried to login to one of my banking app and it kept saying loading for about 5 min before I exited the app then tried again and then it wouldn't even let me log in.

My i-phone has shut down - will not do anything!! What's wrong??

This question really belongs in one of the iPhone forums. https://discussions.apple.com/community/iphone
But... my iPhone acted like this once after I dropped it.
First, make sure the phone has some charge in the battery. Plug it in and let it charge for a while if you haven't already done that.
Then try doing a reset. To reset the phone press both the Home button (on the front of the phone) and the Sleep/Wake button (on the top of the phone) at the same time. Keep both buttons pressed for at least 10 seconds and see if the phone will restart. In my case the reset did the trick.
If that doesn't work you might see if anything else here: http://www.apple.com/support/iphone/assistant/phone/#section_1 is useful. If you still have no luck try asking your question again in an iPhone forum above... or visit your local Apple Store.

  • New Photo in OS X option to edit photo with external editor such as Photoshop has been removed. will this be back!

    Hi
I have just updated my iPhoto to Photos in OS X and i have noticed that the option to edit photo with external editor such as Photoshop has been removed. will this be back!
Its now a pain to send a photo directly to my favourite photo editing software.
    Ross

    Thanks Terence
Totally understand being a new app and not an update.
So i'm a ammeter photographer and i like the way i can view my photos in iPhoto and i'm happy with the new App for this also, however i like to edit my photos in PS from time to time and i shoot in raw. As i can no longer select edit in external editor from the photo app i tired to drag a RAW photo to PS but this didn't work. i then tried dragging to desktop but this then made a jpeg so i loose my raw advantage. I would like to be able to find my original raw photos easily so i can edit them in PS.
    Hope that makes sense?

Your suggestion of breaking up the export to pdf into sections of pages was excellent. I don't know why I didn't think of it...maybe because I was in panic mode.
For anyone else who experiences this problem, I exported 50-page sections to pdf with no problem. I now have 7 hi-res pdfs, but that's no problem. The printer should have no problem dealing with it. No error messages came up.
The only thing I can think of is that InDesign couldn't export that many documents (148) in the book palette to hi-res pdf, and it has no error message available to explain the cause—either outside ID's ability to process or out of memory, even though I have 16G of RAM.
    Thanks again for your help!

Basic troubleshooting from the User's Guide is reset, restart, restore (first from backup then as new).  Try each of these in order until the issue is resolved.

  • My phone has a virus

a persons computer got a virus and sent out messages and now my phone has died

You will find some suggestions for trying to get your iPhone working here:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS2802
If those all fail, your iPhone may have suffered a hardware failure and will need to be taken to an Apple Store or sent to Apple or an authorized service center.
"Jailbreak" means that software has been installed on the iPhone to, among other functions, remove the restriction on application installation only from the iTunes Store. Jailbreaking and subsequent installation of software from unauthorized sources is the only way any malware has ever made it into an iPhone.

  • My Apple Care plan expired less than a week ago, and my phone has died. Will Apple have any mercy on me?

I am beyond livid that my two-year apple care plan is now expired on my iPhone 3G and my phone has completely gone kaput. I attempted to go to AT&T yesterday and just get the iPhone 4, but with the iPhone 5 lurking just around the corner, I would have to pay full value when it comes out in a few weeks/months.
My brother gave me his old iPhone; will I be able to activate it with no problem? I read an article somewhere that I'd have to sign a new two-year agreement with AT&T to activate the old phone, again defeating the purpose of using an interim phone before the 5 comes out.
    Someone help!!

Actually MArc, it is you who needs to get the story straight.
Apple Care on an iPhone only extends the warranty one year past the original first year, giving you 2 years in total.

  • I like to start my morning by looking at my email first thing in the morning  it helps my brain get jumpstarted and gives me a jump on the events of the day.I keep my iPhone encased in an Otter Box. Will this help protect it from steam when I take shower?

I like to start my morning by reading my emails that came in during the night. This jumpstarts my brain and gives me an edge on the events of the day. Since my wife is still asleep when I get up I do this in the bathroom while I'm getting ready. I keep my iPhone 4 encased in an Otter Box case. Will this protect the phone from steam damage or should I thow it in a drawer while I take a short shower?

    TMI dude.
You should be asking this to Otterbox but I'm guessing it depends on the specific Otterbox case... check the case specs at Otterbox.
IMO, I would just leave it outside the bathroom... I'm sure your email can wait a few extra minutes.

  • "Copy ESX instruments..." will this help audio engine / CPU efficiency?

I am limping along on a PowerBook G4, so please excuse the old laptop, but maybe someone can help me:
I have an external FW Glyph drive (7200rpm) with all my Logic sounds, including EXS and Ultrabeats, Jam Packs, and other virtual instrument libraries. I have hit some "system overload" moments when playing some sounds such as "Asian Kit", which seem to have a large number of samples within the sounds.
Hence, under Project Settings > Assets, I see that you can check "Copy EXS instruments to project folder". (I currently have checked "Copy External Audio Files to project folder" and "Convert audio file sample rate when importing". I am at 24 bit / 48 kHz.)
My question is: If I check "Copy ESX instruments...", will this aid in my slow CPU speed? I.e., will the sounds be read any quicker off the Glyph if they are copied into the project folder?
Aside from that, is there another way to setup sounds so that the CPU runs most efficiently?
    Thanks for your help.

if your samples and project are located in same FW disk, I don't think that copy samples in the project folder can be helpful... but it is very easy to check... just do it and see the result.
you can try to reduce the EXS24 voices numbers from 64 (defalut) to 16 or so... don't forget to freeze your tracks
I can also suggest 2 or 3 different more "radical" experiment for adding power...
    1) try to instal the system in your external Firewire and use the Powerbook internal for save the project.
    2) you should change the Powerbook Internal disk with a 320GB?
    3) have you tryied to add a PCI slot for external eSata drives?
Important note: remember... in any case your PowerBook G4 is not a super fast machine... so... my suggestion should not be able to help so much!
I only hope to be helpful.
    Thanks

  • How do i know if my phone has a virus?

my phone is turning on and off and is opening applications by itself. it is also calling people in my contact list and deleting text messages. it is literally possesed. i fear it is a virus. how can i know for sure?

iphones do not get viruses unless they have been jailbroken.  I suggest you try this: hold down the Sleep/Wake button and the home button together until the apple logo appears (ignore the ON/OFF slider) then let both buttons go and wait for phone to restart (no data will be lost).
If that does not do it restore the phone from a backup, failing that you might need to restore the phone as new

  • Hello, my phone has crashed and will not be recognised on computer

I connected my I phone 3GS to the computer to reset it and it said there was a software up date, so did this, half way through the system crashed. Now my oh e has the apple icon on with a bar underneath and it is no longer being recognised on I tunes. I have updated my I tunes.

you want to put the device in recovery mode to restore
Connect your USB cable to your computer but not to the iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch until step 3.
Turn off the device: Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds until the red slider appears, then slide the slider. Wait for the device to turn off.If you cannot turn off the device using the slider, press and hold the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons at the same time. When the device turns off, release the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons.
While pressing and holding the Home button down, connect the USB cable to the iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch. The device should turn on.
Continue holding the Home button until you see the Connect to iTunes screen. When this screen appears, you can release the Home button:
Note: If the image of a battery appears, let the device charge for at least ten minutes to ensure that the battery has some charge, and then start with step 2 again. If you don't see the Connect to iTunes screen, try these steps 1 through 4 again.
iTunes should automatically open and display the following message:
"iTunes has detected an iPhone in recovery mode. You must restore this iPhone before it can be used with iTunes."Note: If iTunes not open after two minutes, please open iTunes yourself.
Use iTunes to restore the device.

  • Phone has frozen and will not switch on

Twitter was not working so I unistalled it from Iphone.  Reinstalled it but the phone then froze.  Turned phone off but now it will not switch back on and is frozen on the apple screen.  Help

Connect iPhone to Wall Charger and Reset, hold both Home and Power buttons until the iPhone begins to restart. Usually takes less than 20 seconds time of holding both buttons.
If this does not work you may need to Restore the iPhone Firmware. If you decide to Restore the Firmware, connect iPhone to computer with iTunes open, hold both Home and Power buttons until the iPhone is recognized in Recovery Mode, Restore the Firmware. Again usually takes about 20 seconds of holding both buttons.
