HT201287 How can I send messages from my number not email? My number is grayed out so I cannot select it. How can I ungray it select it

when i text people they are getting my messages from email not number. I tried unselecting email but then my messages will not send. I tried resetting network and restarting everything but my number is still gray under sent and recieve. How can I get it to be black so I can select it?

Try signing out of iMessage and back in.

Found a good article explaning why the iPad doesn't send texts over iMessage the way you would think. Turns out that the iPad isn't a phone and doesn't use 3G or Wifi the same way a phone would so you can't really send texts from iMessage on your iPad the same way you can on your iPhone.

Can't send messages from my gmail account

I cannot send messages from my gmail account on my IPod touch. I can receive messages. This happens everywhere I use my IPod, so it doesn't seem server dependent. I have checked the settings. Everything is turned on and seems set up properly. What is going on?

Actually i don't use with Service Provider, you know in the Turkey it's very expensive... I tried only with wireless lan. My salary can't cover Service Provider prices and I'm already use GSM not UMTS or 3G network for battery usage duration...
By the way, i want use my mail server not Nokia's servers or another... Why i'm connecting Nokia's servers?

and you should use 587 port for smtp and use outgoing authentication option...

I have been sending pics from my iPhoto to FaceBook for a long time. Today I tried sending them from my iPhoto and after clicking FB a window comes up with the question Do you want to publish...........(whatever the pics are about)? Then I choose the option of "everyone" "friends of friends" and "only friends". After choosing my option I can then click on "publish" and the pics go to my profile page on FB, or they did until today...because the word "publish" is grayed out and won't allow me to send them. Anyone got any suggestions why this got grayed out, and how can I fix it.

Your problem is that you have been running a Referenced Library, and now you're trying to convert this to a Managed Library
A Managed Library, is the default setting, and iPhoto copies files into the iPhoto Library when Importing. The files are then stored in the Library package
A Referenced Library is when iPhoto is NOT copying the files into the iPhoto Library when importing because you made a change at iPhoto -> Preferences -> Advanced. (You unchecked the option to copy files into the Library on import) The files are then stored where ever you put them and not in the Library package. In this scenario you are responsible for the File Management.
Simply changing the setting in the Preferences will not do this. It just means that imports from here forward will be Managed. Those that were Referenced remain so.
Now, because you've moved the Referenced Files to the new disk, iPhoto cn't find them. So it throws the error message. This is one of the major reasons experience users recommend against Referenced Libraries.
No change you make at this point will have any effect. The Library will try and update and throw the errors.
Options:
Let it run it's course and then fix it.
Or
Give it up as a bad job, recover your Photos and start over from scratch.

Can't send messages from iPad to non-Apple users

After updating my iPad to iOS 7, I can no longer send messages to non-Apple devices. I used to be able to send and receive text messages from my friends who use Android for example, but now it just says "not delivered". Is anyone else experiencing this problem or know how to fix it? By the way, it still works fine on my iPhone.

As far as I know, the native Messages app of the iPad was never able to send or receive SMS messages. SMS messages are a function of the voice portion of the cellular system, and even an iPad with celluler hardware connects only to the data portion of the cellular system.

Let me clarify.
iMessage is completely different from regular SMS. iMessage is where you can text from Apple device to Apple device (ex. iPad to iPhone, or iPod to iPad)
SMS is texting service for all phones, excluding the ipod, ipad. (ex. iPhone to Droid, or iPhone to Nokia)
So when you iMessage someone on you iPhone, it is free and can be sent to anyone with an Apple device.
When texting SMS, you can send to anyone with any kind of cell phone.

Can't send message from Skype

Hi Skype team,
I'm so dissapointed about the problem of sending instant message that I got from modern Skype on my Windows 8.1 64 bit.
I can write the message but I can't send it. I hit the ENTER button for several times but nothing works.
I prefer this version of Skype so please don't tell me to install the version for desktop.
Give a REAL and HELPFUL solution. I read some topics about this problem but I saw that you didn't do well your customer's services!

Can't send messages from Mail from Comcast account - "SMTP not responding"

Using Mail and a Comcast account, I can receive but not send. The error message on trying to configure the outgoing mail server says the SMTP server isn't responding. If I click continue to set up the account in Mail, then go to Mail Preferences and tweak the ports between 587 and 25, triple check the username and password for the outgoing server, etc. -- still no dice.
I wonder if this might be the problem: Is it possible to configure Mail when you're not using a Comcast installed modem? I'm trying to get my Dad's account up and running on my old Mac with my airport extreme to earthlink modem connection (which works fine for Earthlink and .Mac e-mail accounts.) Apple support and Comcast tech support are both stumped on this one, referring me back and forth to each other. HELP!

If I'm understanding this, you are trying to send messages with a Comcast account and SMTP server while connected to the internet with Earthlink?
If so, this is the cause of the problem. All ISPs now have restrictions on using an SMTP server that is outside of their network or not provided by the ISP used for connecting to the internet.
If you are connected to the internet with Earthlink at this house in California, contacting Comcast about a sending problem with their account and SMTP server when connected to the internet via Earthlink is a waste of time. You need to be contacting Earthlink if you are using Earthlink for your internet connection.
Do you also have an email account with Earthlink? If so, you can select/use Earthlink's authenticated SMTP server to send messages with your Comcast email account while connected to the internet with Earthlink or call Earthlink technical support regarding their required settings for an SMTP server that is outside of their network or not provided by Earthlink.
