How to delete photos not in camera roll?
The only way to delete photos NOT in the camera roll is to sync the phone with those photos deselcted.
@iLikeCheesyStuff: The photo stream photos are in the camera roll as well. The OP is referring to photos synced to his phone, which can't be deleted directly on the phone. -
How do I delete photos from my Camera roll in iOS 7
I have over 1,000 photos in my iPhone Camera Roll. I would like to delete all the photos in the Camera Roll. How do I do this efficiently in iOS 7?
Hi mikeschumann,
Of course you can delete photos from your Camera Roll:
Go into your photos app and select the Camera Roll album
Click on Select at the top right of the screen
Select the photos you want to delete
Click on the Trash can at the bottom of the screen
Just remember, if you have not imported those photos into a photo app on a computer, they will be permanently deleted. You may have them on an iCloud backup, but each backup you do has only the image of the current state of your device. So, if the 1000 photos have been backed up in the last iCloud backup you do, then you delete them, and do another iCloud backup, that backup will not have those photos. Then, say, you take another 100 new photos, and back up to iCloud. That backup will have the most recent 100 photos, but not the 1000 previously backed up.
So, your best bet is to import them to your photo app on your computer, and then select delete photos from device when asked.
Cheers,

How do I delete pictures not in camera roll
How do I delete pictures previously synced to icloud, but no longer in my camera roll?
(I want to get a new phone and transfer only the pictures currently on my iphone 4S camera roll)
I'd like to avoid having to delete all pictures I've taken when information is transferred to my new phone.
I currently have the icloud settings turned off, however I have had icloud on in the past which has
many pictures I no longer want.
How do I login to icloud on my pc?Hi bckop,
Welcome to the Support Communities!
You can import the pictures and video currently on your iPhone (camera roll) to your computer. Then you can manually sync with iTunes to copy only the images you want to your iPhone. If you don't want the images in your Photo Stream to appear on your iPhone and PC, you can turn Photostream off in your iCloud settings. You can also delete images from your Photo Stream that you no longer want.
Here are a few articles to help you with this:

Deleting photos NOT in Camera Roll
I cannot seem to delete photos that I have synced to the new 3G (not sure if there is a difference from the older iPhone).
I synced some photos and then realized it would be better to just have an "iPhone photos" folder on my computer. Now I want to delete those old photos off the iPhone. I have deselected that old folder in iTunes, but that does not remove them.
What else can I do?
With all apologies to the regular users here, I do not visit that often. If it is not too much trouble, please post here and email to [email protected]
Thanks.
ToddYou will need to sync the phone again after you deselect the photos you don't want.
Also it is not a good idea to post your emails in these forums as you will get loads of spam if you do. -
How do you delete photos from the Camera roll without losing duplicates in Albums?
Please help thanks!
Correct, they are only links, not separate copies. At the moment you can't directly on an iPad, albums that you create directly on it only contain links, not actual photos. You could copy the photos to your computer, organise them on there, and then sync those albums back - or you could use a third-party photo app such as the Photo Manager Pro app that I linked to in your other thread

How do I add photos to my camera roll that were not taken one my iPad? I have iMported photos from my camera to my iPad. Theses photos are in the imported photo album. I want to move these photos to my camera roll but can't figure out how to this. I want them in my camera roll because that is the album that syncs with Dropbox where I want to backup my photos. Thank you for your help.
Consider using sshfs to mount your Pi from your Linux boxes. It's much easier to configure and manage than samba. It sounds like you already have your Windows machines mounting your Pi so Samba is doing its job in that respect.
More info on sshfs in the Wiki: https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Sshfs
To help get you off the dime, here's a modified line from my fstab that I use to mount my Pi with:
gav@PI:/mnt/backup /mnt/rpi/backup fuse.sshfs rw,relatime,user_id=0,group_id=0,allow_other 0 0
Subsitute my mount points with yours.
For a password-less mount:
ssh-copy-id gav@PI
after you've set up ssh and generated some keys on your client box.
Here are some relevant lines from the smb.conf file on my Pi that I use for my one Windows box in the house that might help you with your write permissions:
security = user
hosts allow = 192.168.1.0/255.255.255.0
guest account = gav
; And my share setup:
[rpi]
comment = Public Stuff
path = /mnt
writable = yes
; printable = no
; write list = @krb
[torrent_dl]
path = /mnt/video/torrent_dl
writable = yes
create mask = 0770
directory mask = 0770
guest ok = Yes
case sensitive = No
read only = No
Hope this helps. -
How can I recover deleted photos from my camera roll?
How can I recover deleted photos from my camera roll and my photo stream?
Please, help me!I finally got up with a solution.
All you need is the photo file from your last backup.
You can extract this file from your backup by using iBackupbot for itunes. Get this via:
http://www.icopybot.com/itunes-backup-manager.htm
Once you get this file you extract the photos in form of original database file. The screenshots on the website will help you to know how to extract the files.
Okay so now when you've got the photo file you simply need to SSH into your phone to /private/var/mobile/Library/photo were you'll already see a photo file.
Replace the old photo file that you've extracted from the backup by the one that already exist in.
Don't forget to keep an extra copy of the new photo file if in case you go wrong somewhere.
It worked for me and I hope it works for you too.
Thanks mende1, you were indirectly helpful. -
How can I add photos in the Camera roll to My photo stream if they were taken prior to icloud being activated?
You have a couple of options:
Open the photos one at a time and take a screenshot. This will add a new low resolution copy of the photo to the camera roll, which will then upload to your photo stream;
Email the photos one at a time to yourself, then save the attached photos to your camera roll. This will add a copy of the photo at full resolution to your camera roll and upload to photo stream;
Use an app like PhotoSync, which will allow you to wirelessly transfer copies of all your old photos to your computer all at once. Then delete these photos from your camera roll and use PhotoSync to transfer them back from your computer to your camera roll. These will be the original resolution and will upload to your photo stream. (You need an app like this because iTunes will not transfer photos back to your camera roll, where they must be in order to add to your photo stream.) -
How can i delete a picture from camera roll without deleting everywhere
how can i delete a picture in camera roll without deleting everywhere
You can't, when you 'copy' a photo into an album that you've created directly on the iPad then you are effectively just creating a pointer to the photo and not creating a second copy of it - so if you then delete the original photo from your iPad you will also be deleting all pointers to it and therefore removing it from other albums.

If I delete photos from my camera roll will I lose them from the cloud as well?
If I delete photos from my camera roll will they be deleted from my cloud as well?
No, photos in photo stream are not effected by deleting photos from your camera roll. However, while photo stream photos are not deleted from your phone after they are in your photo stream album, photos older than 30 days are deleted from photo stream. These means if you ever turn photo stream off, or connect a new device to photo stream, only photos added in the last 30 days will be available to download. To keep them permanently, import your camera roll photos to your computer before deleting them (see http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4083).

Hey Guys,
I need some advice. I had about 9000 pitures and photos in my camera roll folder.
I wanted to manage all these pictures into separate folders for easier access.
I imported all the pictures onto my pc, and created and managed the pics.
I synced the phone and excluded the photos,as advised on the site.
The I disconnected the phone, connected again and included the pictures.
On the coclour tab it indicates that all the pictures are there, after syncing,
but on my phone, nothing appears.
Am I doing something wrong? Is there another way of importing my pictures
onto the phone and keeping the separate folders?
Thanks,If you don't find an iTunes backup as suggested above, another possibility is that the phone was setup to automatically back up to iCloud. You can go to Settings > iCloud > Storage & Backup > Manage Storage to see if your device name is listed there. If it is, the section titled "How do I restore an iCloud Backup if my device is already set up for use?" in the following link gives directions on how to resore it: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS4036
Also, I'm sorry to hear you lost 5 years of pictures. Having them in one place (as you unfortunately found out) is not a good idea as all kinds of things can happen including loss of the phone. If you have a computer it is a good idea to periodically import them to the computer where you can see that they have successfully transferred to a second location. Following is instructions on how to do that if you want to in the future: http://support.apple.com/kb/ht4083 -
How can I export pictures NOT on camera roll from my ipad to my iMac?
How can I export pictures NOT on camera roll from my ipad to my iMac?
Hello jcamengual,
I was having the same problem you're having - for those that don't understand... I synced photos on to my ipad which placed them inside "photos" not cameral roll. I then sold me laptop as I thought I had no need for it. When I bought my new iMac I tried to use my external hard drive which had my back up on, however my hard drive no longer works. Thus unable to retreive my photos on to my iMac!
Anyway... long of the short of it is theres no easy way. But there are a few ways. I'm currently using icloud's photo stream. As long as you have photo stream set up on your mac you can create a shared stream on the ipad with a friend. This shared stream will appear on your mac, you can then "import photos" straight from the shared stream.
Alternativley you could use something like drop box. Sync your pictures from iPad to drop box. Then download from drop box to Mac. As I said, no easy way that I have found but this does work. It just takes a long time.
Key Facts:
You can have 5000 photos inside a sharred stream
You can have 100 sharred streams
Therefore you can stream 500,000 photos - I hope you don't have that many.
All explained here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4858?viewlocale=en_US&locale=en_US -
