Can no longer sync Photos from Airport Disk
I can no longer sync photos from my Airport Disk to my tv.
This used to work fine- When I first got the tv I checked the "sync photos from" option in the photos tab in iTunes, navigated to my network drive/ pictures folder and hit sync. The photos slowly copied over.
Just this week however, I went to add some new pictures and iTunes/ tv no longer sync. The status bar just spins saying "Syncing"...I have left it overnight with no change.
I have recently updated to the latest version of iTunes and Airport Extreme firmware, but that is about it in terms of changes/updates. Anyone have any ideas?
- Firewall is off
- Permissions seem ok on the Airpot Disk. Everything is read/write
- I have rebooted/ reset/ re-synced everything. It just hangs on Photos. Music etc go over fine.
Specs:
iMac G5 PowerPC
Airport Extreme N base station with OWC USB drive attached as airDisk
tv 1.0 40 gig - using ethernet connection to router
iTunes 7.4.2
I am really stumped! I think that the airport disk permissions or mount are still suspect but dont know what else to check.
Does iTunes spit out a log or write to the console? Any help would be very much appreciated.
Thanks,
ACI think I have figured it out, and photos are syncing now.
Here is what I believe happened: There is an iTunes generated folder called "iPod Photo Cache" in my "Pictures" folder on my Airpot Disk. This folder gets generated by iTunes whenever you designate a location for syncing. The "iPod Photo Cache" folder contains a file called "Photo Database".
It looks like the "Photo Database" had been corrupted. Deleting this file, or alternatively, moving my pictures to a new folder and letting iTunes regenerate the Photo Database fixed the problem. -
Can no longer sync photos to my iPod Photo
Without any change in hardware, but AFTER installing iTunes 7 via Software Update, I can no longer sync photos to my iPod. (I have had no problems syncing music, pictures, contacts and calendars since purchasing an iMac G5 "iSight" 15 months ago.)
Music appears to sync correctly, as do calendars and contacts. But after trying to sync photos, iTunes stops with the following message: "The iPod 'my iPod' could not be synced. The required file cannot be found."
I have Restored my iPod and attempted to sync, but receive the same message.
I REPLACED my iPod's hard drive! Upon syncing, I receive the same message.
I deleted iPhoto Library/iPod photo cache folder and was then able to sync photos to iPod, BUT upon reopening iPhoto, and a forced reindex (?) of pictures resulted in about 1/3 missing.
After restoring the iPhoto Library from a backup, syncing the iPod results in the same original error. Deselecting syncing photos in iTunes removes photos from iPod, but upon syncing, same error message.
Restoring iPod again, results in same error message.
Does anyone have a solution? What required file is missing?

iBook G4 1Ghz/iMac G5 iSight Mac OS X (10.4.3) iPod Photo 40GBI too had a problem. iTunes wouldn't sync any photos nor list my iPhoto Albums.
I created a second iPhoto library and then added some photos and created several albums to see if iTunes could see the new iPhoto library. It did see the new library. I then started to add photos to it. I finally found the offending files - 4 .avi files - that for some reason when added to the library caused iTunes to balk. I removed the files and all is well. I even have other .avi files in the original library and iTunes responds normally - just those 4 caused the problem.

Since recent flurry of updates, all of which I applied, I can no longer sync photos to my iOS6 devices.
iTunes sync error at the photo sync step with an unknown error 1140.
I have restarted everything, unsynced & attempted re sync to no avail.
The photo sync screen only allows me to select the sync all option, the select specific events, albums etc . Choice is greyed out.
This is true for both my iPhone 4S and ipad2.I think I have figured it out, and photos are syncing now.

Can no longer sync photos from iPhoto to my iPad or iPhone
I can no longer sync from iTunes to my iPad or iPhone if I want to sync photos from iPhoto. I keep getting the following error:
"The iPad "XXXXXXXXXX" cannot be synced because it cannot be read from or written to."
If I choose not to sync photos everthing works fine.I had a similar problem only neither my iPad nor my iPhone would sync and I was getting error 1106.
I looked it up and it said delete the iphoto cache, which I did and I also turned of syncing photos.
Now when I turn on SYNC PHOTOS FROM, the choice of Select albums........ is greyed out and cannot be clicked.
I don't want to sync my entire set of photos. -

After updating to iTunes 7.1, I can no longer sync iPod from iPhoto
After updating iTunes to 7.1, my iPod started crashing. I used Restore to resync music, but Restore or any subsequent sync in iTunes will not sync any photos from iPhoto 5.0.4.
The error message I receive is:
"The iPod "My iPod" cannot be synced. The required file cannot be found."
iPhoto appears to work correctly, but no longer syncs. Any advice to get iPhoto working with iTunes would be welcome.
iBook G4 1Ghz/iMac G5 iSight Mac OS X (10.4.8) iPod Photo 40GBWhen iTunes attempts to sync photos from iPhoto, it shows the amount of the iPod drive taken up with photos, BUT NO usage on the drive graph itself.
When Sync Photos from iPhoto is deselected and another sync attempted, iTunes asks if photos should be removed from iPod, despite the previous sync being unsuccessful. When I choose to remove the photos, the amount shown taken up by photos disappears.
Does anyone know what the error message quoted in my question above means?

HT201302 how can i recover sync photos back to my pc
How can I sync photos back to my pc - they were originally synced to the iphone and now are lost on my pc
You don't. The photos sync is one way: Computer to Phone. To extract these photos from your phone requires third-party software, like this:
http://www.wideanglesoftware.com/touchcopy/index.php
Be aware, photos synced to your phone were reduced in resolution for display on your phone. There is no way to recover their full resolution. -
I changed my apple ID on my Macbook but I am unable to sync calendar from my iphone 4s. When I go to settings in the phone, my old ID is there, but it is greyed out and I can't change it. I was able to change the app store ID, but the one in iCloud settings seems stuck. Any suggestions??
You need to use the old ID and password to delete the iCloud account. After you delete the old account, you can sign in with the new ID in iCloud.
Have you seen this.

iCloud
iOS 6 and later: Go to Settings > iCloud.
If you signed out before changing your Apple ID, enter your current Apple ID to sign in. The data from your iCloud account will download to your device.
If you're still signed in with your previous Apple ID:
Scroll down and tap Delete Account. Depending on what iCloud options are turned on, you'll be asked to confirm that you want to delete data from your device. To confirm, tap Delete. (If you're using iOS 7 and have Find My iPhone turned on, you'll be asked to enter the password for your previous Apple ID. Enter the password, then tap Turn Off.) The data will be deleted from your device, but not from iCloud.
Enter your current Apple ID to sign in. The data from your iCloud account will download again to your device. -
Can no longer sync photos via itunes
iTunes has quit syncing photos to my devices (iPad, iPhone). First I noticed that some photos were not synced by comparing to original folder contents. I tried removing all photos by deselecting the Sync Photos option and deleting the iTunes Photo Cache. Now when I attempt to sync, I immediately receive an error "xx items could not be synced. See iTunes for more information". Where is this information stored and how do I fix this issue?
For: itunes 10.6.1.7 (on Win 7), iphone 3gs 5.1 (9B176)
I am having a similar issue but on different hardware. I attempt to sync photos but it only does about half of them. I receive the "X items could not be synced. See iTunes for more information."
- iTunes does not provide more information that I can find.
- I deselected the sync of photos.
- I restored my Iphone.
- I deleted the "Ipod photo cache" folder.
- Syncing the restored phone removed the photos on my Iphone successfully.
- Syncing the photos again gives the above message.
What am I doing wrong?
Why does iTunes promise me more information? -
I have been given to itunes numerous times by Apple. ITUNES have referred me back to Apple as I may not have the current software on my IPOD TOUCH, model MC086LL. I have purchased/downloaded songs, but they will not sync to my IPOD. ITUNES again said this is an issue with the IPOD TOUCH software not them. Does anyone know how I can get this resolved??
Carolyn Samit, what are yo saying? He say he has a MC086LL at iOS 4,2. That is a 2G iPod. The software update comes with iOS 5 and the 2G can only go to iOS 4.2.1

31MToweVeWhat happens when you try to sync?
Was the iPod previous synced to another iTunes library/computer?
Have you successfully synced from this iTunes library/computer before?
Do the songs play in iTunes?
Do you have the right boxes checked to sync?
iTunes: Syncing media content to iOS devices and iPod
Try syncing using the manual method if you have not yet tried that. -
I upgraded my 3rd generation Touch to iOS5 on Thursday and now I can't sync. I've made sure that my Import Settings are AAC Encoder/Spoken Podcast and Manually manage videos and songs and Convert to higher bitrate are also checked. What did I miss? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
Do you mean a playlist created by Overdrive?
I downloaded the newest version of ODM yesterday. Couldn't do it from within the application, had to uninstall/reinstall it. Here's what's happening now with WMA, which is my preferred format:
-Instead of just moving the audiobook and cover graphic and all that over as in the past, now ODM creates a separate playlist under 'Books' in your device. Problem is, only some (seemingly random) tracks go over there. The others just show up under 'Books' but not in the specified playlist, so you have to drag them over in iTunes.
-If you stop listening, it starts over from the beginning next time you're ready to resume, so if you expect to find your place again right away like in the good old days, think again.
-For me the WORST PART is only so much data of that sort is permitted under 'Books' so it seems, because after a certain threshold the transferred parts of books become greyed out and cannot be played. You are limited to far less data in a period of time than previously. I used to be able to keep several books on my device at once and listen to multiple things depending on my mood etc. Now I can fit about 2-3 big books, or 4-6 smaller ones, MUCH less than previously was possible, which is a problem if you've waited for a popular title at the library that you don't have the room for (even though you have plenty of memory in the device).
All in all, I think ODM need to get their act together. We should not allow them to think they are done with this upgrade, the fixes might be okay for temporary, but they are unacceptable for a permanent format. They have a phone number on their website. I left a message. Others have been tweeting them too, not sure of the contact info.
Good luck everyone. Post back here if you find something out. -
I can no longer sync videos from iTunes to my iPhone 6 after updating to 8.0.2.
After updating to 8.0.2, my movies disappeared from my iPhone - it states "No Content". My iTunes show that I have "Sync Movies" checked with 9 movies selected, but they are not syncing. When I choose, "Sync", iTunes go through all the steps, but no movies sync. When i deselect "Sync Movies" then reselect it, the bar at the bottom shows the Purple portion that represents Movies - it goes through with the syncing process, then the Movie portion disappears when the sync is done, thus leaving NO movies synced to my device.
Disregard this... I found the issue. I have AirWatch MDM installed. For some reason, the restrictions blocked me from syncing videos. I don't know how that happened being that I am the Admin for the AirWatch MDM at my company - I made sure i allowed everything possible being that its configured for BYOD. I guess something with the update to 8.0.2 screwed with it somehow. It worked fine after uninstalling the AirWatch Profile and MDM.
