HT201302 what happens when an ipad cannot be backed up by icloud

i have just transferred videos from my ipad to my imac, at the end of this operation a window appeared on my screen saying, "not enough space, this ipad cannot be backed up because there is not enough icloud storage available.
you can manage your storage in settings".
when i click the "settings" or "close" button nothing happens....
and i cant even turn it of...
it seems to be completely blocked.
please let me know what i have to do.......
thanks.

Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up.
