I have 2 Apple ID's, first one was created years ago when i didn't have an iphone but wanted to use iTunes. I no longer use this and it is now locked for security reasons
The second ID i created when i got my iphone, not realising i could use the first, and i have used this ever since.
The problem is, the email address used for the 1st account, i need to use that for my current account as my main address/log in, as the email i use now is my old work address.
How can i use the email from the old account, in my current ac

It's disappointing that Apple still hasn't made it possible to cancel/delete old ID's, if that was possible, i wouldnt have this problem. I can't change the email address associated on the old ID as that ID is locked.

Thanks for the help Niel. I couldn't change the rescue email address (an address that no longer exists and is therefore useless) until I could correctly answer the security questions. After numerous guesses, finally got them right. Was then presented with the option to change the rescue email address. Guess the only other option was to have Apple Support make the change or reset my account info. Have made note of the correct answers so this won't happen again. Thanks for the fast response!!

Having the email address is not necessary. It is just the username for the device. All you need is that Apple ID and password. Now, if you forgotten the password, then you have more work to do. Since that email is no longer active, you would need to send the reset to your rescue email, if you remember that. Or you will need to contact Apple Security for help. For a long time, years, the old MacBook pro ceased entering the song titles. This is very time consuming for me, so I finally investigated a bit further.
I discovered how to enter the track titles onto my newer MacBook Pro, and was so pleased! But when I tried to do the same with the other laptop, it failed.
What I did, basically, was what the Apple Help suggested--choose iTunes General Preferences, etc.etc. And yes, I did upgrade the old laptop to the newest iTunes version.
Am I just wasting my time here? Is there some reason why an older Mac Pro will not do what the newer one will, with regard to iTunes?
My older laptop is a 2.6 GHz Core Duo; it has 36 GB of "memory available." The newer one a 2.3 GHz Intel Core i7. It has 284 GB of memory available.
Both are using the same version of Snow Leopard--10.6.8.

Content and Apple IDs -
Content is forever tied to the Apple ID that bought it. Apple does not transfer content from one Apple Id to another. Apple does not merge Apple IDs. You will never be able to access your content bought with another Apple ID with a new ID.

I changed my main email on my apple ID and now it doesn't work and still uses my old one and with my new and old email my password doesn't work

I made a new apple ID and on my iPod it tries to use my old one and I can't change it to my new apple ID I've gone on to settings and iTunes and App Store and changed it to my new apple Id yet when I buy apps or try update them it uses my old apple ID I don't know what to do any help??

- Apps are locked to the account that purchased them.
- To update apps you have to sign into the account that purchased the apps. If you have apps that need updating purchased from more than one account you have to update them one at a time until the remaining apps were purchased from one account.
If you can't log into Settings>iTunes and App stores with your new ID them mean there is a problem. Try restting the password and try to sign in again.

Can you sign in with the new ID on your computer?

I found the answer that works for me. (This information was not on Apple's website for troubleshooting this problem.)
In Safari, (I use Firefox only) cookies must be enabled. I never knew there was a connection between iTunes and Safari until now.

You have to sign out completely and then sign back in.
On a Mac, System Preferences>iCloud and click 'Sign out'.
On an iOS device, Settings>iCloud and click 'Delete account' (this will not delete the account from the server).
Your synced data will disappear from your devices when you sign out, but reappear when you sign back in (give it time).

Delete what? The ID's? They cannot be deleted - you just quit using it.
If you still have one old ID - that you have purchased content with - you are saying that the password no longer works with that ID? Did you try to reset the password for that ID?
Read this - instructions if the ID was disabled for entering the wrong password.

you can - it's calle Apple Recycling Program - they would give you a gift card with x amount of $$ in it and you can use it towards the purcase of you new macbook.
i do however, suggest you sell your old macbook privately so you can get more for it.

You can log out of the currently logged in account by taping on the id in Settings > Store (Settings > iTunes & App Stores on iOS 6) and you can then log back in.
If you updated your existing account with a new email address then that shoud 'refresh' it on it
If you created a new account then any content that you purchased/downloaded via the old account will remain tied to that old account, and only that old account can redownload its content and download updates to its apps. You should be able to update an account's email address via this page : http://appleid.apple.com

Since the iOS 7 update i cannot log into my icloud. Seems I have two iCloud loggins. One old. one new. When I try to delete the ol from my phone it does not accept the password nor will it take my info to reset my password.

At one point I had set up my itunes and icloud with an old email address. I have since shanged that to a new email. iTunes works fine and I can log into my new iCloud on my PC but my phone will not allow me to delete the old iCloud email without the password. I select to reset the password but the system will not accept my birthdate or security questions. All happening after i did the iOS 7 update. Any thoughts? Thank you!

1) Did you change that old email address to your current email address to be your current Apple ID? If so, try to enter your current password for your current Apple ID/iCloud account. If it doesn't work, try #2.
2) If you don't have access to your old email account. Same process, go to https://appleid.apple.com and sign in your current iCloud/Apple ID then edit it to your old email address then Save the changes. DON'T sign out yet. Go back to your iOS device then delete your iCloud account. Once deleted, go back to the Apple ID website and rename it back to your current email address. You have to verify it this time and you will be able to since you have access to that email address.
3) If your answer to #1 is NO, contact Apple Support (Account Security Team) to help you reset its password but you need to have another email address available which is not yet an Apple ID to send the password reset email.

Absolutely, Yes. I'm sure that many iPhones are "recycled" that way within a family.
The worst that will happen is that once in a while it will remind you to activate it as a phone. Just ignore the notifications.
