HT201303 ITUNES PURCHASES AND CREDIT CARD VERIFICATION

Can someone please tell me why I need to go through the processing of verifying my credit card every time I make a purchase (even for 10 cents) . If I make three purchases in a day, I end up signing in three times, entering my credit card information three times, three separate $1 deducts from my credit card and three daft emails from Itunes advising me that my account information has changed. There was a time when Itunes remembered my details and I simply clicked to purchase.  Is there some kind of policy in Itunes to make a customers buying experience as difficult,  time consuming and protracted as posible? If so, Itunes users like myself will simply switch off and move to a more efficient service provider.  When I raised this issue with Itunes on a number of occasions during the last half year, I receive the stock response that "engineers are working to fix this, apologies for delay etc etc" ? What is happening with Itunes?

That happens automatically.

If it's happening every month then it's likely to be an auto-renewing subscription - there are instructions on this page for managing and stopping them : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4098

You would have to work with a retailer selling iTunes cards who would accept a non-US credit card. Best Buy is a possibility; they carry iTunes prepaid cards and will accept orders from other countries:
    http://www.bestbuy.com/site/Help-Topics/International-Orders/pcmcat204400050019. c?id=pcmcat204400050019
You'll have to have the order shipped directly to the person in the US (or at least someone with a US address, who could then repackage and resend the cards for you).
    Regards.

I am trying to add a game to my sons I touch pad. It is a free game. It asks for verification of password and credit card info. Every time, it tells me that my time has expired. Help.

It asked me that too.Don't worry and just put it in. Itunes doesn't charge unless your son buys something. The password happens to me all the time. Credit card was only once. Just make sure your son knows not to buy anything without permission so he doesn't accidently charge you something.

  • HT1933 My ex-boyfriend stole my email address and credit card information to make purchases with Apple and now my Apple ID account has a balance. Is there any way I can retract the purchases so I don't have to pay for his theft of my information?

My ex-boyfriend stole my email address and credit card information to make purchases with Apple and now my Apple ID has a balance. Is there any way I can retract the purchases so I don't have to pay for his theft? I had no idea he had done this until I tried to sign in to the ITunes store and found all his information and a whole bunch of song purchases. I had to go to my email and reset everything. I only have a 2.10 balance due to him, but I just want to find out if there is a way to erase it because of this circumstance.

You need to immediately pull credit reports to see what else he has done.  Then "freeze" the credit report at all three agencies.  That way even you need to lift the freeze to add credit cards or other credit items to your SSN.

  • Apple TV keeps asking my for my Credit Card verification code and I punch it in, still asks me for it, and restarted everything, went to my computer, checked the code, all is set, still can't rent a movie. Please help!

Apple TV keeps asking my for my 3digit  Credit Card verification code and I punch it in, it still asks me for it, and went to my computer on iTunes store, checked the code, all is set and saved, go back to Apple TV still can't rent a movie, I still get the same Verification Required message without any further information after I punch in my 3digits. When I hit submit, the page goes back to the same place to type the code again, and yes the code is 100% accurate. I tried restoring the apple tv, every thing is up to date on all devices and signed in and out of my itunes store on my Mac, still no luck. Please help!

This issue actually started a week ago... see: https://discussions.apple.com/message/23399558#23399558
to determine if there are the same problems you are experiencing.  I have spent over 6 hours on this issue trying to isolate if it is a hardware, software, network, iTunes account, or Apple device issue.  My initial results indicate it is a software specific issue related to the Apply TV hardware device.

If you are referring to an iDevice, sign out of your new Apple ID and sign back in with your old one - they should all be there.

  • Is there any way that will notify me first before purchasing in iTunes? I have lots of purchased in iTunes in my credit card.

Is there any way that will notify me first before purchasing in iTunes? I have lots of purchased in iTunes in my credit card that I didn't buy. Pls help.

You should be prompted to enter your password when buying, if you aren't then on your iPhone you can set Settings > General > Restrictions > Require Password to 'Immediately' so that it has to be entered for every purchase (that setting has a default of 15 minutes during which it doesn't need re-entering).
If you've been charged for items that you haven't bought then you can try contact iTunes Support via this link : http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/contact/ - click on Contact iTunes Store Support on the right-hand side of the page, then Purchases, Billing & Redemption

  • HT5621 I created a new Apple ID when I try to purchase to iTunes it required credit card I don't have one!why should I do?

I created Apple ID on this site because I already reached my iPad 2 limit,my email verified it but when I try to use it in iTunes it required info and credit card.I don't have one.i need a free account.

If you don't want to give credit card details then you will need to follow the instructions on this page when creating an account : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2534 - if you don't use those instructions then you will need to give card details before you will be able to use the account to download anything from the stores
e.g. log out of your existing account if currently logged into it, then find a free app in the store, click on its free 'price', and create the account as part of the 'buying' process

  • Can't download songs and credit card issue

I called Apple support and they brushed me off on this issue which I have seen on MacWorld. I can't download my purchases via either Itouch, Itunes for Mac or Itunes for Windows. AND then I get a message that I need to verify my credit card and I get a message that it was decline. Yet in Purchase history it shows. And earlier I used same card to purchase ILife.
    Bank says card is OK.
    Made other purchases.....
    So, Apple what gives?
As a customer and someone who gives you credit info, I feel we deserve answers?
This is from MacWorld Discussion Board:
..."I hope this is an appropriate topic to post here, but I and it seems many other people are trying to get visibility (and help!) for an iTunes issue that does not yet seem to have been picked up on.
A lot of people are encountering a problem that previously valid billing methods are being declined by the iTunes store and/or billing verification is requested but is not able to be processed by the store.

Piecing together what little that Apple has shared with some complaining customers, it seems that they have instituted some new security measures that have locked many people out of their accounts and, with a few exceptions, Apple seems unable to reset the accounts. In many cases they are trying to blame the credit card company. They have told me in several responses to support emails that the problem is with my credit card. I have checked with my credit card company and they have received the verification request from Apple and have authorized it -- over 30 times!!!! There are no blocks or flags on my credit card account.
I have tried three other credit cards and get the same error message.
I have even tried selecting the 'none' option under payment information in my iTunes account and I still get the same error message -- the problem cannot be with a credit card if I specify 'none'...
It would be helpful if anyone can offer any advice to resolve the issue, but I am also hoping that someone from Macworld may read this, do some investigating and start giving this issue some 'public domain' visibility. The end goal being to get Apple to take some ownership of the issue. "

    Can't download songs
Go try another online music download retailer, such as Amazon.com.
You can buy MP3s from any source, and add them to your iTunes library. If one store is too much trouble, try another.

  • If I want to add a family member who is not in my household and has their own itunes account and credit info...

If I want to add a family member who is not in my household and has their own itunes account and credit info...will all their purchases be charged to my credit card as the Organizer?

    Hi mbostick,
Welcome to the Apple Support Communities!
The only way a family member can use their own funds and not the Organizer’s account for purchases would be with store credit, such as an iTunes gift card.
    Family purchases and payments
    Making purchases
After you set up your family, any time a family member initiates a new purchase it will be billed directly to your account unless that family member has gift or store credit. First, their store credit will be used to pay the partial or total bill. The remainder will bill to the family organizer. As the family organizer, any receipts generated by the transaction will be sent to you. Learn more about how iTunes Store purchases are billed.
    Have a great day,
    Joe
