HT201303 My security questions are bogus, or at least my answers are. How do I change them? Apple is getting annoying.

This was after apple sent me an email addressing me by my mothers name

This is a NIGHTMARE! The same thing has happened to me as I just "upgraded" to the latest iPad after having my previous one for years with "no account issues". Now I can't make any purchases on this new "unrecognized device"??? The "system" apparently has the answers to questions I never answered? What am I to do? Surely a company with the brain of Apple could sort through this issue? All they've done is sent me around in circles.  Apparent I got the same email you did. I'm consider sending this "latest/greatest" iPad back for a refund and going back to "ole faithful". HELP please?

Click here for information. If you can't get the answers emailed to you for some reason(the email may take a few hours to arrive), contact the iTunes Store staff via the link in that article.

You need to ask Apple to reset your security questions. To do this, click here and pick a method; if that page doesn't list one for your country or you're unable to call, fill out and submit this form.

Apple store is saying my security questions are wrong. The rescue email does not belong to me and there seems to be no way to change it. When I try to buy something it tells me to go to my security questions to verify my account. Then all that happens :( please help!

If you log into your account via http://appleid.apple.com, and select the Password and Security section on the left-hand side of that page are you able to set them ?
If not, then from http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5665 :
If you have three security questions and a rescue email address, sign in to My Apple ID and select the “Password and Security” tab to send an email to your rescue email address to reset your security questions and answers.
If you have one security question and you know your Apple ID password, sign in to My Apple ID and select the “Password and Security” tab to reset your security question.
If you have one security question, but don't remember your Apple ID password, contact Apple Support for assistance. Learn more about creating a temporary support PIN to help Apple confirm your identity when you contact Apple Support.
If you can’t reset them via the above instructions (you won't be able to add a rescue email address until you can answer your questions) then you will need to contact iTunes Support / Apple in your country to get the questions reset.

When they've been reset (and if you don't already have a rescue email address) you can then use the steps half-way down this page to add a rescue email address for potential future use : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5312

I cannot remember my security answers.  How do I find our what I used and how do I change them.

You need to ask Apple to reset your security questions; this can be done by clicking here and picking a method, or if your country isn't listed, filling out and submitting this form.
They wouldn't be security questions if they could be bypassed without Apple verifying your identity.

  • HT5312 I dont get an option to reset my security questions and I cant remember the correct answers.  How can I have security questions reset?

This is actually for my mothers account.  She has tried to use itunes for her new phone but is unable to login.  We want to change her password which I think we can manage but the major problem is she cant remember the answers to her secret questions.  We called apple support who helped to reset her password but we really need to change her questions also.  We dont seem the get the option to change them if we dont know the answers to the existing questions.

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
Start here (change country if necessary) and navigate to 'Password and Security', reset your security questions using the link provided, you will receive an email to your rescue address, use the link in the email and reset your security questions.
If that doesn't help, you don't receive a reset email or you don't have a rescue address, you should contact AppleCare who will initially try to assist you with a reset email or if unsuccessful will pass you to the security team to reset your security questions for you.
If you are in a region that doesn't have international telephone support try contacting Apple through iTunes Store Support.

  • Apple is asking me to answer my security questions but I can't remember the answers. Also I would reset them but my rescue email is no longer in use and I cannot even remember what it was. Is there any way to fix this mess?

So basically I need to confirm my identity but I  can't because I can't remember the answers to my security questions. I scheduled a meeting with Apple, to see if they can fix it. Nod I would just reset them from my rescue email, but I don't know what that email is and it's also no longer in use.
Do you know of any way to fix this?

You won't be able to change your rescue email address until you can answer your questions, you will need to contact iTunes Support / Apple in your country to get the questions reset.

I need help.
