HT201304 Lock and unlock apps and video

On my son's ipod touch can I lock certain apps so that he cannot play them if I have not put in the password? For example, I don't mind if he watches videos or uses apps that show video sometime, but I only want him to be able to access those apps/videos when I give him permission. I don't care if he plays learning type games when ever he wishes. I would prefer to be able to lock those apps/videos and to enable them when I wish. I do not want to constantly remove and add apps to the ipod to accomplish this.

My area of interest is in business and economic history. There is a considerable amount of reading and charting. Until the iPad hit the streets, I only considered stacks of books, journals, and downloaded documents, all marked up with highlighters, underlines, and marginal notes.
Most of my PC based work involved MS Office, Endnote, and MS OneNote.
What I would like to do with the iPad and MacBook are the same things (Office, Endnote, OneNote) and add the ability to read and markup all forms of printed materials from books to pdf to webpages.
I cut my teeth on an iPod Touch and have tried a lot of the note taking and reading apps. Without a camera the standard iPod Notes works for short quick notes and long think pieces. I just emailed the content and downloaded the stuff to my PC. Obviously, I do not want to continue at this "non-integrated" level of work.

Try using the Spotligh search feature on the iPod. To get there, swipe the Home screen fully to the right.
Also, if they are Games, they could be in the Game Center.folder

I have tried enable and disable restriction, connecting my phone to my laptop and sync from my computer and none of them is working. What should i do?

Often when this type of thing occurs with missing default apps it is due to a situation where you are unable to 'see' the apps. If you will go to your front display of your device go to settings>General>Reset>Reset Home Screen layout.
This reset allows for your apps that have for whatever reason been hidden in such an area as you arn't able to find them now to be returned to the area as which they were when you first had the device.
As far as the missing Apps that were purchased through the Apps Store if you will go to settings>itunes and Apps store and click where it reads about automatcally downloading apps clicking on the toggle switch AND clicking on the toggle switch which allows for cellular data to be enabled this then will effectively automatically download all apps to your device that was purchased from the App Store.

Q10 or newer password lock and hiding apps and icons

Hello. I love BB phones and I will use them forever. However I am incredibly dissapointed that on Q10 we can not lock any desired app, or hide icon, like we could in previous OS's, using iLock app for example.... That app is available for q10 aswell but it allows locking of only files, not applications like FB, twitter , let alone locking HUB app from preventing anyone to access them... I tend to borrrow my phone to those in need but why couldnt I have option to have anyone prevent to enter my hub or sms messages of FB accounts..... Please dont give me stupid answers like "dont borrow your phone to those who would look your email" or such........ Questions: 1: does anyone know will people from BB allow developers to make this kind of app with control to pass locking desired app? 2: will BB Passport model use same OS10( with this unfortunate issue) 3: is it possible to custom make/order change in BB OS so you can use app to control with pass any icon you desire(like on bold ,odels) I know 3rd question is SF, but who knows, maybe it can be done and I would gladly pay for it... I thing this is huge hole in BB security, phone known for its wide range of options suddenly lost for many of us important one... Thanks, BB users!!!

after that I think the only way that will help you is restore the iPhone and the bad news are that you should do it without restore a backup after cause you're problem could be saved in the backup of the phone too so you must manually reinstall apps, preferences etc etc

I had this problem too. What I did was go to notifications on settings and turn everything on. If that doesn't work, go on the apps and then try their settings. Hope this helps

I have three kids with different ipod. My oldest has had hers and already has an itunes account. My other two just got theirs.When i set them up it was not able to use same apple ID (email). If the reset doesn't do it then it's possible that the backlight or another part of your screen has broken. Unfortunately it's not really user servicible. I'd make an appointment at your local apple store and have them check it out. If your device is still under warranty and they don't determine that the damage was the result of 'abuse or neglect' (their words) then it could be a free replacement.
I'd just do a backup before you take it in, just in case.

Sync data between third-party contacts and calendar apps, and the native apps, in 10.9.3+?

I've had to refrain from updating my Mac Pro from 10.8.5 to 10.9 owing to the removal of SyncServices. I then read that SyncServices was re-introduced on a limited basis in 10.9.3.
It seems unlikely, but I'd like to know whether or not SyncServices in 10.9.3 re-enables the syncing of data between third-party contacts & calendar apps and the native apps, and thereby enables syncing of contacts and calendar info between third-party apps and iOS devices over USB via iTunes. This is the method I use exclusively by choice in 10.8.5, and I will not change it to a cloud-based solution under any circumstances.
If it is not possible, is there a third-party workaround? My calendar app on the Mac Pro at the moment is BusyCal, syncing with Week Cal on the iPhone, but I'll happily buy a new combo of apps if it means I can upgrade to Mavericks and retain USB syncing.
EDIT: a solution which permits syncing of a third-party calendar app on the Mac Pro with a third-party calendar app on the iPhone over an ad-hoc wireless network would also be acceptable, I suppose.

It sounds like your iPad is closing your apps without notice. I would start by closing all the running apps on the iPad first:
iOS: Force an app to close

Double-click the Home button.
Swipe left or right until you have located the app you wish to close.
Swipe the app up to close it.
When you have done that and restart the phone and test the issue again:
iOS: Turning off and on (restarting) and resetting

What you need to do is triple-press the HOME BUTTON three times. You will be prompted to enter your passcode. This will bring up the options for guided-access mode and you will then need to click "End" in the top corner.
Guided-access mode must have accidentally been enabled by triple-clicking the home button.
