HT201304 Restrict access on internet

I Need to put parental acces onto my sons I pad for google as I am worried if he puts the wrong word in something comes up which I ddon't think is appropriate he is only 7 any help?

There are no parental controls in the Safari browser. You can disable it in restrictions and remove it, but there are no other ways to restrict web access within the browser settings.
Look for a third party web browser that will allow you to do that. use Google and type in "kid safe web browsers for iPad".
Look at....

https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/maxthon-kids-browser-hd/id520718018?mt=8
And look here as well.

Is it possible to restrict access to specific IOS apps based on the WIFI profile that a user has connected to?

you might be able to block it if the app uses Internet access
and depending on your wireless you might be able to block a specific user

some firewalls offer application filtering but I'm not aware of any that work with ios apps

  • Restrict Wireless Guest Internet Access

I am implementing a wireless guest solution for Internet access. I would like to restrict these users to Internet access only. I undestand the concept of configuring a seperate vlan for them but how can I restrict them to Internet only. I also have remote campuses that I would like to setup as well. I have an ASA 5520 for my firewall and am using metro ethernet from the main campus to the remote campuses. Thanks for any help.

    Hello,
I have found the simplest way of doing this is to apply an access list to the radio sub-interface for the vsitor vlan.
Set the access-list to allow any dhcp requests, deny any to a private network and permit any.
You could do it back at the ASA but there is a chance of the traffic getting onto the network first.
    HTH.

  • Restrict access won't let you login internet explorer 7

I have created a section to the website I am currently developing which uses the restrict access function. I can log in using Mozilla and IE6 but not IE7. Is this an issue that others are having? What could I be doing wrong, like I said everything is fine with Mozilla and IE6.
    Thanks

    Mike,
I updated the internet security level settings in IE7 and for some reason it worked. However for the other folks of the company the problem went away.
On a side note there is really tons of great info on the site Rich suggested to look at. In fact I learned so much more about this package because of that site. It is sad that Adobe has not done a better job supporting the package.

  • Internet connection say Restricted access"

I have been connecting to the internet via my Airport Base Station for weeks. Now I can connect, but get restricted access message from my ISP. I contacted them, there answer was "we don't support wireless". How was I able to access for weeks thru my Airport if this statement is true? I would really like to use my Airport as phones lines are a problem with my wheelchair. Any help would be appreciated!

I am able to successfully connect to Juno (dial-up) but when I try to open Firefox I get the "restricted access" message from Juno. My Airport Base Station is the only device I am using. At one point I was unable to connect with my internal modem, I thought it had quit so I was connecting with Airport no problem. Now I get the restricted access message, I did not change anything that's why it's a mystery to me. I am not sure what you mean about turning my modem off to get it to redirect to a different device.
You're one of the (presumably) rare people on this discussion board who still uses dial-up. Evidently you're using one of the AirPort units that included a dial-up modem. My comment about your modem presumed that you had broadband service and a broadband modem.
Do you see that "restricted access" message in any other browser than Firefox? Do you see it with every Web page that you try to view with Firefox? Have you tried contacting the Juno people about this?
I"m not sure how relevant this is to your situation, but on this Web page http://ubuntuforums.org/archive/index.php/t-67980.html I found these comments about Juno and the "restricted access" message:
"It would seem that Juno wants you to use their program to connect, and if you try to make a direct connection without their program, you cannot go to any webpages."
"[Juno] made it clear in an email response to me that you can only log on to the Juno servers using their proprietary software."
I'm not sure what options that leaves you.

This is so our guests cannot tamper or disable the device. We are already using Apple Configurator but their does not seem to be a way to lock down settings without a PIN.

There's a lot of restrictions information in Chapter 19 of the 4.2 User Guide.

By the way, a more extensive version of the User Manual is available at no charge through iBooks.

  • Firefox loads but will not access the Internet, showing only a blank page with a single tab "Untitled," and "Done" in the progress indicator.

When I load Firefox, I get a blank page. There is a single tab with "Untitled," and an indication "Done" at the bottom. The program does not respond to any of my bookmarks--it works but the end result is the blank page described above.

A possible cause is security software (firewall) that blocks or restricts Firefox without informing you about that, possibly after detecting changes (update) to the Firefox program.<br />
Remove all rules for Firefox from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full unrestricted access to internet for Firefox.<br />

  • Problem with my company's web filter, Barracuda when I try to access the internet

I'm having problems accessing the internet on my tour.  Ever since my company put me on their BlackBerry Enterprise Server it appears that when accessing certain web sites the Barracuda web filter comes on.  It's so frustrating... on top of it my company doesn't pay for my phone at all.  Therefore, I do use my BlackBerry for personal as well as business.
I spoke with the IT guy and he initially thought it was the Desktop Software I downloaded to my computer, but we have uninstalled it and re-booted my phone and it's still happening.  I called Verizon Wireless and they tell me that it's because I'm on the company's enterprise server and that I am tied to their internet service and that's why I'm getting the Barracuda access denied on certain sites that they have restricted.  I am incredibly frustrated and don't know what to do...  I want to stay on their server because of the push email and the synchronization  for all my contacts and calendar.  Any help is much appreciated...
    Thanks.

The blackberries are designed to send everything through the corporate network, when using an Enterprise Server.
Hi and Welcome to the Forums!
Just to be sure that this is clear -- they are not "designed" as you state...rather, the BES admins can force all Internet traffic through BES (and thereby apply filters) or they can allow it to go direct through the carrier network. The IT Policy placed onto the device at BES activation is in control of how the traffic flows.

  • Restricting access to the Admin WebConsole of WebAccess 2012

    Hi,
With the new WebAccess 2012 web application, the console is now a WebConsole that can be accessed by the URL http://<server>/gw/webacc?action=Admin.Open
I search the KB, the documentation and now this forum, looking for a way to restrict access to my precious WebAccess Console. No luck! (Only one thread ask for a similar solution restrict admin tool based on ip with no solution provided so far)
Humm So we are only 2 guys in the Groupwise community concern with security in those days? No engineer at Novell ask himself if exposing an Admin console to the Whole Internet is a good idea?
Furthermore, login (successes and failures) to the Webconsole are not written to log files. So I cannot even monitor if my WebConsole is under a brute force attack!
Here some technical information to consider:
    1) I have Groupwise 2012 SP2 running under Windows 2008 R2
    2) Since the Admin Webconsole is hosted under the same web site as WebAccess, I cannot restrict access to the URL http://<server>/gw/webacc?action=Admin.Open without blocking at the same time access to WebAccess using firewall or IIS rule.
    3) I do not want to use IPS to restrict access to this URL

Francois, Just FYI the "green dots" are only accumulated by forum users taking the time to rate Laura's answers. She has no control over them and they speak for themselves. I've asked Knowledge partners to put the bit about rating in their signatures, it wasn't Laura's idea. Just FYI Laura also has the highest feedback scores out of all her peers in the program which also says something about her interactions here in the forums. As was pointed out, Laura is not a Novell employee, just another Novell user trying her best to stay on top of the issues and taking time out of her busy day to try to help other forum users. Nobody is going to be right 100% of the time. Please refrain from petty personal attacks in the future.
I suggest you take the time to read the forum Terms of Service: https://forums.novell.com/faq.php?faq=novfor#faq_rules where it states clearly:

Your message was offensive, personally attacking, condescending and was deleted as per the forum terms and conditions. I wouldn't be surprised if the volunteers around here were a bit slower to respond to any issue you may post here in the future.

  • Restricting access via MAC address?

    Hello,
Could someone please tell me how to restrict access to my wireless network (and internet sharing) by only allowing computers with a certain MAC address to join?
    I'm kinda stumbling around here
    Thanks,
    Jonny

Sorry if I wasn't being specific enough...
I have my eMac set up as a Software Base Station, which streams internet & Airtunes to an Airport Express. I have it set up this way, because my ADSL modem is connected via USB (so it's a bit of a workaround). As a result, I have Internet Sharing switched on, so I can access it from all my other macs.
What I want to do is to stop other people from accessing my eMac's internet connection. If I set up a WEP password for Internet Sharing, I lose my Airtunes facility... so I was thinking another way might be to restrict access to the connection via MAC address. I only want my other airport card-equipped macs to access the internet connection and network generally.
    Surely it's possible?

  • TS3304 Problem in Downloading Profile needed in some cases to access the Internet through Wifi

I have an Iphone 4 and Ipad 3. I access the Internet in my hostel with the wifi router. When connected iphone with wifi , It automatically downloads profile needed to run internet. but in case of Ipad 3 , it does not and i am unable to access internet. So Please give me solutions so that i can Access net on my Ipad 3

I would love to have the liberty to block certain applications of my choice from accessing the internet
For example i dont want a game application like subway surf telling me that there is a new shirt my player can wear.... i am happy with the basic application that was there when ever it was downloaded...
The ability for users to restrict an app's ability to access the Internet is a decision left to the app's developer. Presumably, if an app requires an Internet connection to function that choice would not be a logical one to implement. On the other hand if the app developer decides an Internet connection is optional, the choice is easily implemented in Settings.
In the case of free games such as Subway Surfers, nearly all of them rely upon in-app purchases to generate the revenue required for their development and support. In such cases the developer will not be interested in limiting that revenue source. Users with no money to spend do not comprise a successful business plan.

  • Restrict Access to certain users based on if a variable in the SQL database is set to 1

    Hey guys,
I am quite new to PHP and MySQL and I have a question concerning access  restriction. For a website project I am experimenting with Dreamweaver's  login and restrict access behavior, which works fine. However, on the  website I would like to restrict access for users that only have a 1 set  in the corresponding MySQL database (which means that e.g. each page has a different variable in the database that can be set to 1, which would allow me to personify access beyond the level of the out-of-the box option, where each user can only have one access level). So it is quite similiar to the  out-of-the-box restrict access to page based on user group, but just  depending on another variable in the database.
I guess it can be done with an if condition that checks in the database if the logged in user has a 1 in this variable, and if yes give her/him access if not redirect to another page. However, I could not figure out  how to implement that.
    Your help is highly appreciated!
    Thanks in advance!

    Hello guys,
I spend quite some time on the internet reseaching my wish and redefined my need: I would basically like to have the possibility to assign a user multiple access levels. There would be e.g. 10 pages for each I create an access level. Then a user with e.g. access to pages 2 and 8 can only access these two pages. So my basic question is if and if yes how I can assign a user muliple access levels at a time and store these values in the MySQL database.
Thanks a lot for your help!!

  • Restrict Access to Expense Report template for a Responsibility

    Hello,
We want to restrict access of a Expense Report template to a specific responsiblity.
Is there a way to do it.
Basically we have around 3 Expense Report Template. But we want to restrict access to one of the template to a particular responsibility.
Any help in this regard is greatly appreciated.
    Thanks

    Hi ,
To my Knowledge the only option I think right now to restrict the template for an Responsibility is to do is there is check box Enabled/disabled where you define the templates ,Try to disable that check box and see , I think when you try to create an expense report from Internet Expenses after you do this , you cant see the template you have disabled it in the List of values for that Responsibility . I hope that works .
    Thanks
    Deepthi .

I need to restrict the below website that maybe a virus. It keeps making itself my homepage and loading as a trusted site even though I never set it up. It did the same thing in Internet Explorer browser. However, there I was able to restrict access. How do I want to restrict access in Firefox?

    '''[https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/blocksite/ BlockSite]''' {web link}
BlockSite is an extension, which automagically blocks websites
of your choice. Additionally, this extension will disable all
hyperlinks to these websites, by just displaying the link text
    without the clicking functionality.
