HT201317 Adding photos to photo stream

My question is this: I'm taking pix on my iPhone 4 (have not downloaded new OS - need to make room in memory before I can do so) and pix are not automatically appearing in my photo stream when they previously had done. Is there anything I can do to fix this?

Save any photo stream photos you want to keep to your camera roll, then turn photo stream off, wait a minute or two, then turn it back on.  To save them to your camera roll, open your my photo stream album, tap Edit, tap the photos, tap Share, tap Save to Camera Roll.

  • HT201317 do i need photos in photo stream and the camera roll?

I want to know what is the difference between camera roll and photo stream. Do I need both? Are they taking up memory space on my phone? Thank you for any help. I have an Iphone 5, 16 GB

The camera roll contains the original photos that were added to photo stream.  They may be slightly higher resolution than the photo stream photos as photo stream photos are "device optimized".  Once camera roll photos are in your photo stream, if you want to save space you can import them to your computer and delete them from your phone, as explained here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4083.
It's important to import your camera roll photos to your computer for safekeeping and not rely on photo stream to back them up.  The reason for this is because photo stream photos are only kept in iCloud for 30 days, even though a rolling collection of up to 1000 photos will remain on your phone until deleted.  If, however, you ever turn off photo stream, restore your phone or replace your phone for any reason, when you reconnect to photo stream you will only get back photos from the last 30 days (as older photos are no longer there).

  • HT201317 why the last photos in photo stream are not sync with my iPad?

why the last photos in photo stream are not sync with my iPad?

Photostream only syncs photos over Wi-Fi, make sure you are connected to Wi-Fi to begin with.
Photostream only syncs when the camera app is closed, ensure it is closed.
Photostream only syncs when the battery is above 20%, try recharging the device
Try disabling photo stream on your device (settings > iCloud), restarting your device and then re-enabling photo stream.
If this doesn't help you may need to reset photo stream. You can do this at icloud.com by clicking on your name in the top right corner and then the advanced settings in the pop-up dialogue box that appears.
Note: disabling photostream and re-enabling it will result in any photos that are currently in the photostream album on your device, that are older than 30 days old, not being added back.

  • HT201317 how do I see photos in photo stream

Try not to laugh....how do I view photos in the cloud?

That's by design; photo stream only uploads photos taken after turning on photo stream, not earlier photos.  Adding earlier photos to photo stream can be done in a couple of different ways:
    Open the photos one at a time and take a screenshot.  This will add a new low resolution copy of the photo to the camera roll, which will then upload to your photo stream;
    Email the photos a few at a time to yourself, then save the attached photos to your camera roll.  This will add a copy of the photo at full resolution to your camera roll and upload to photo stream;
Use an app like PhotoSync, which will allow you to wirelessly transfer copies of all your old photos to your computer all at once.  Then delete these photos from your camera roll and use PhotoSync to transfer them back from your computer to your camera roll.  These will be the original resolution and will upload to your photo stream.  (You need an app like this because iTunes will not transfer photos back to your camera roll, where they must be in order to add to your photo stream.)

  • I have 1000 photos on my iPhone in Photo Stream... all have already been added to iPhoto.  If I delete the photos in Photo Stream on my iPhone will I lose them on iPhoto??

I have 1000 photos on my iPhone in Photo Stream... all have already been added to iPhoto.  If I delete the photos in Photo Stream on my iPhone will I lose them on iPhoto??

Its the first time ive used iphoto, hence the vast number of photos i needed to import. I was importing from my phone to my macbook iphoto, my son caught the usb connection during the time when iphoto was deleting from the phone, after it had apparently imported all of the photos but none of them are on iphoto and only 195 are still on my phone.
The problem is not deleting them but finding them all?
Sorry ive typed this in the wrong place now cant delete it - if anyone can help with my problem however i would appreciate it!

  • I'm adding photos to photo stream and they aren't showing up

I'm adding photos to photo stream and they aren't showing up - help!

There are 9 different versions of iPhoto and they run on 9 different versions of the Operating System. The tricks and tips for dealing with issues vary depending on the version of iPhoto and the version of the OS. So to get help you need to give as much information as you can. Include things like:
    - What version of iPhoto.
    - What version of the Operating System.
    - Details. As full a description of the problem as you can. For example, if you have a problem with exporting, then explain by describing how you are trying to export, and so on.
    - History: Is this going on long? Has anything been installed or deleted? - Are there error messages?
    - What steps have you tried already to solve the issue.
    - Anything unusual about your set up? Or how you use iPhoto?
Anything else you can think of that might help someone understand the problem you have.

  • If i delete a photo in my iphoto library that I added to a photo stream, does it delete it from the photo stream?

If i delete a photo in my iphoto library that I added to a photo stream, does it delete it from the photo stream?

i can't tell if my question is the same, or slightly different, but this thread seems closest to my question so i will ask it here so as to not duplicate:
on my iphone 6 i have icloud photos beta on. in iphoto on my computer, i have photostream on, but auto import off. so, the only thing i have for photo stream photos is "icloud" under the shared heading.
when i delete a photo from the icloud section in photo, it does not delete it from the photos beta app in beta.icloud.com. if i had auto import turned on, i would think this would be normal functioning with respect to the actual events that get imported, but since i have it turned off and am working with photostream itself i would have thought it would delete from the photos app on the website when i delete it from the stream in iphoto.
similarly, deleting a photo from the photos app on the icloud website does not delete it from the iphoto photostream if i had already opened iphoto and thus the album had already been updated (though if i delete the photo from the beta website before opening iphoto, it won't show up in iphoto since it was deleted from photostream before iphoto updated from photostream).
so, as it stands - my iphoto only sort of syncs with photostream. is everyone experiencing this? i'll be honest - i still don't get the new icloud drive and photos, so maybe the issue i am having is exactly what the photos app for osx is intended to correct when it comes out next year. or am i just wrong in how i think the syncing is supposed to function?

  • HT201317 I had my photo stream on and my icloud all set up, i just had the screen replaced and they somehow lost all the photos off my phone, but why wont the photo's reload back on to my iphone now that im connected to wifi again, where are all my photos

I had my photo stream on and my icloud all set up, i just had the screen replaced and they somehow lost all the photos off my phone, but why wont the photo's reload back on to my iphone now that im connected to wifi again, where are all my photos???

When photos are added to the photo stream album on a device (either due to a new photo having been taken or having been synced from another device using the stream) they remain in the album.  However, the syncing process involves copying the photos to the photo stream server where they are kept for a maximum of 30 days, up to 1000 photos.  If a device is reset or the stream is turned off or turned back on again (or in your case, the device was repaired), the photos that were on the device's photo stream album are gone and the only ones to appear are those that are currently on the servers (recall the 30 day limit).
If some of your photos are older than 30 days, then they are no longer stored on the cloud and hence are not synced down to the iphone.
Recall, photo stream is just a syncing service, it is not designed as a storage service for photos.  Always sync photos to a computer for archiving.

  • HT201317 Not all my photos in my photo stream on my iPhone have transferred through icloud to my iPad ?

Why have only some photos from my iPhone 3 transferred with iCloud to my iPad 2 but my older photos in the same file haven't ?

iCloud only adds photos to photo stream after photo stream is enabled.  It also only keeps photos stream photos for 30 days, even though they remain on your device.  If these older photos were on your phone before you enabled photo stream, or if it has been more than 30 days since they were added to photo stream, they wouldn't be available for your iPad to download.

  • HT201317 Cannot see photos in Photo Stream on laptop

I can see my photos from my iphone on my computer but cannot see them in the photo stream on my laptop.  I have downloaded the icloud panel again and ticked the correct boxes etc. but cannot see them.  Both computer and laptop run Windows 7.  Does anybody know what is wrong?

    Hi JinnaWinkas,
Thanks for visiting Apple Support Communities.
Try these steps first if the Photo Stream on one of your PCs is not updating:
you can't connect to the Internet, iCloud Photos will not be able to send or receive updates to My Photo Stream. If necessary, troubleshoot your Internet connection on your PC, Mac, or iOS devices.
Open the iCloud Control Panel and make sure that you're signed in to the same iCloud account that you're using on your other supported devices.
In Windows 8.1, go to the Start screen, click the down arrow in the lower-left corner, then click the iCloud app.
In Windows 8, go to the Start screen, and click the iCloud tile.
In Windows 7, choose Start menu > All Programs > iCloud > iCloud.
Make sure that iCloud Photos or Photo Stream is turned on in the iCloud Control Panel. Click the Options button and make sure that My Photo Stream is turned on.
Close and reopen the iCloud Control Panel.
Restart your computer. This may sound simple, but it does reinitialize your network and application settings and can frequently resolve issues.

  • HT201317 My photos in photo stream automatically are shared with other people?

Are my photos in photo stream when the option of shared photo streams is on, are they shared with other people automatically?

Your photos are not shared automatically. You must select photos and share them with others manually.

  • HT201317 How can I find a specific photo in Photo Stream?

How can I find a specific photo in Photo Stream?

Yeah...that's the one thing that's odd about PS Touch; you'll have to browse for your desired images. I'm not sure if it expects for the user to have what could be hundreds of images in a folder (which is why I would prefer to go through Android Gallery; I can open the first image from Android Gallery into PS Touch, but if I want to add any more I have to do it PS Touch's way).

  • HT201317 What if you deleted your photos in photo stream? Is it gone forever?

I didn't back up anything & my photos in photo stream got deleted as well! Does that mean i cant get anything back?

    Hi Maliakolo,
In order to get into your Photo Stream, the photos had to have been taken with an iDevice. Whichever device took the original photos will have a Camera Roll folder in the Photos app. Unless you deleted the pictures from your Camera Roll, they will still be there.
    Cheers,
