HT201317 Can't find my Pictures...

My iphone was stolen. When I recieved my new iphone 26 pic downloaded immediately, 19 pics the next day. Both photostream and icloud were turned on on the old and new phones. I had over 800 pics on my old phone. Why didnt they upload to the new phone and why can't I find them on icloud, itunes, or the my pictures folder on my PC? Did I lose them all??

I think I'm screwed here. My husband set up iCloud and from what I can tell he never set up the control panel. I never backed them up on itunes because i just assumed they were in the cloud. What a mistake! Now after researching I see our mistake. I even had a guy that works at a phone kiosk tell me that as long as photostream was on, I'd never lose my pictures. I think a lot of people are under the same impression. Lesson learned and very upset. I've learned more from you than anyone at the phone places. They should really be specific about the cloud and the control panel and let people know the control panel is seperate.Thank you so much for your help because now I have it set up. Testing it out now. It works Only wish my other photos would've by some miracle popped up too. Thanks again for helping me get set up properly!

I try to import the new pic but it tells me it is already in the library. I go to search and type the filename and it doesn;t find anything This is really frustrating can someone help me?

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. Below is the correct way to use Photoshop with iPhoto:
Using Photoshop (or Photoshop Elements) as Your Editor of Choice in iPhoto.
1 - select Photoshop as your editor of choice in iPhoto's General Preference Section's under the "Edit photo:" menu.
2 - double click on the thumbnail in iPhoto to open it in Photoshop. When you're finished editing click on the Save button. If you immediately get the JPEG Options window make your selection (Baseline standard seems to be the most compatible jpeg format) and click on the OK button. Your done.
3 - however, if you get the navigation window that indicates that PS wants to save it as a PS formatted file. You'll need to either select JPEG from the menu and save (top image) or click on the desktop in the Navigation window (bottom image) and save it to the desktop for importing as a new photo.
This method will let iPhoto know that the photo has been editied and will update the thumbnail file to reflect the edit..
NOTE: With Photoshop Elements 6 the Saving File preferences should be configured: "On First Save: Save Over Current File". Also I suggest the Maximize PSD File Compatabilty be set to Always.
If you want to use both iPhoto's editing mode and PS without having to go back and forth to the Preference pane, once you've selected PS as your editor of choice, reset the Preferences back to "Open in main window". That will let you either edit in iPhoto (double click on the thumbnail) or in PS (Control-click on the thumbnail and seledt "Edit in external editor" in the Contextual menu). This way you get the best of both worlds

The photos you've already edited with Photoshop are in the library but iPhoto doesn't know they are there. Also since they are inside the library package iPhoto assumes they have already been imported and won't import again.
If you can find just those photos you edited with PS and don't show up in iPhoto and move them to the desktop you can import them. However, do not rename, move or otherwise change the contents of the iPhoto library from the Finder. That is the cardinal sin if iPhotol

My phone was stolen, but I had no data left and so can't locate it till the person who has it tries to use the internet. I backed up all my photos on iCloud, and want to get them on my PC. I installed iCloud onto the PC and  followed the instructions and still can't find my pictures, says my photostream folder is empty, but it shows on iCloud that i've used most of my storage which is true, so they must be there somewhere?
Any ideas? I'd really appreciate the help! Thanks

Yes, I filed police report, but there is nothing they can do until I get back to them on the tracking. It's been offline. I'm sure the whoever took it can find a way around breaking in the ipad..i really was hoping to get my pictures and videos of my kids back

  • Can't find the pictures after moving the library to EHD

I followed the instructions of moving the iphoto library to the external HD. I created an alias and moved it to the Pictures folder. I opened IPhoto and I can see all the events and thumbnails, however when I try to open any picture and I get the message that the picture is not found. I guess is that the picture files are located outside the library. the library has the pointers to the old folders....
I have 17000 pictures, how can I find each of them?
I tried opening IPhoto with the "option" key pressed and choosing the library in the EHD. I get the same result. I can see all the events and thumbnails but It can't find the pictures.

Did you try opening and checking the validity of your library before you copied it back to the EHD? By not finding some of the photos do you mean you get the "!" window when you double click on a thumbnail?
If so then try the two fixes below in order as needed:
    Fix #1
1 - delete the iPhoto preference file, com.apple.iPhoto.plist, that resides in your User/Library/Preferences folder.
2 - delete iPhoto's cache files that are located in the User/Library/Caches/com.apple.iPhoto folder.
3 - reboot, launch iPhoto and try again.
NOTE: If you're moved your library from its default location in your Home/Pictures folder you will have to point iPhoto to its new location when you next open iPhoto by holding the the Option key. You'll also have to reset the iPhoto's various preferences.
    Fix #2
Launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys depressed and follow the instructions to rebuild the library. Select options #1 and #6.
If all else fails create a new empty library on the EHD and do the following: sart over with a new library and import the Originals folder from your original library as follows:
Creating a new library while preserving the Events from the original library.
    1. Move the existing library folder to the desktop.
    2. Open the library package like this.
    3. Launch iPhoto and, when asked, select the option to create a new library.
    4. Drag the Originals folder from the iPhoto Library on the desktop into the open iPhoto window.
This will create a new library with the same Events as the original library if you have the Finder checkbox unchecked in the Events preference pane.
Then you can compare the number of photos between this library and the other to see if either is more complete.

  • How can I find old pictures

How can I find old pictures I have lost ?

Pictures from where? Did you shoot the pictures with the iPad which would have them saved them to the Camera Roll? If so, you can restore from a backup if you have a backup with the photos in them.
Do you ever backup your iPad? If not, there is no way to recover them.

  • Adobe Premiere Elements 3.0 can't find my pictures...

    Hi,
I've created a great video. But... last week we've reorganized all our pictures on the pc. We've created new maps and put all photo's in there and sorted it all out.
Now, when I try to open my created video's,  adobe premiere elements 3.0 can't find my pictures anymore
Does anybody have a solution for this ? is it because I moved my pictures at my pc ?
    Thanks in advance,
    Rob

In a word, YES...! When files are moved with Windows and not with Premier or PSE, the programs "lose track of them".
In PSE you must do a "File" > "Reconnect" > and either "Missing file" which will reconnect a missing file or a group of selected files. (highlighted) Or , the Reconnect > "All Missing Files" command. This is how it is done in PSE. Perhaps in Premier it would be "Missing Project", depending how it was originally filed.
It is better to "point" the programs toward the file's location by choosing the "Browse" function in the reconnect dialog box, since PSE if not guided will look in all the wrong places first.
I haven't had Premier Elements open in years, I'm sorry I don't have the exact procedure memorized.

  • I can't find my pictures in icloud

I can't find my pictures in my icloud!  Pictures seem to disappear off my iphone (4) and go where???

I'm not totally sure I understand what you are asking or expecting to see.
You will only find your Photo Stream photos in iCloud, not the camera roll photos. What I mean is that any older photos that you have in the camera roll will not appear in the photo stream. Only photos that you have taken with the iPad, after you turned photo stream on, appear in the photo stream.
You can create a shared photo stream album with older camera roll photos, but the camera roll itself is not in iCloud.com.
Where are you looking in iCloud to see these photos?

  • Where can I find my picture files in the finder?

I download iPhoto with another person's account, so I never could update the new versions; because I don't know the password, and the person cannot enter to the account anymore. Now apple doesn't let me open iPhoto, because the version is too old, 9.2.1 to be exclaty.  Where can I find my picture files in the finder, so I can export them and save them?

There should be an iPhoto Library in the Users> "user account" > Pictures folder.
You may also try to see about finding them through the user finder window where it says search for 'all images.'
Not sure about the rest of that situation.
    Good luck & happy computing!

How can I find my pictures in element 9 in Windows so that I can edit them and my new pictures?

I am not very sure what you may be asking for but in case if you are referring about opening any image in elements then open Editor and then go to "File Menu>Open" . File open dialog will open , just browse to your file and press ok. The picture will get open in elements.

  • Where can I find a picture of s10-2 with 6-cell ?

Where can I find a picture of s10-2 with 6-cell ? The pictures shown somewhere in this forum shows a s10-2 with a 3-cell, but it isn't even sold with a 3-cell, so i'd like to see what it would look like in real-life with a 6-cell.
Also, is the fan/bios problem fixed in the s10-2 ?

    George,
Thanks, but I don't plan on taking it apart. I just want to have a better idea of
what I think may be the problem.
I just had it in for a 'tune up' where they do a hardware test, and also vacuum
out the dust. I was hoping that would fix it, but it didn't.

  • Where can i find the pictures from massager?

Hello, i have a little problem, i can't find my imassanger pictures in a folder or sth else. Where can i find the pictures?
    Thanks for help:)

It takes a few steps but it's doable.
Start with the contact. Tap edit. Tap edit under the photo. Tap edit photo in the window that opens, take a screen shot. Tap outside of the photo, tap done.
Now we go to Camera Roll.  Choose the screen shot you just took. Tap edit. Put two fingers on the photo and separate them to enlarge it. Take another screen shot. Squeeze the photo back to normal size.
    Your photo is ready.
Why they don't just save the contact photo in the first place I'll never know.

Navigate to Settings > General > Software Update and install any updates available.
Navigate to Settings > General > Reset > Erase all contents and settings on the device you want to restore.
When this completes and the Set-Up Assistant starts, choose "Restore from iCloud Backup" and enter your iCloud account and password. You will see the three most recent backups for each of the devices on which you enabled Backup. Choose which backup to restore from.
