Does anyone know what causes this and how can I fix it? I have been driving myself crazy. It has worked before, but suddenly it is not.
If you're trying to add photos to photo stream on your PC, you drag them to your photo stream uploads folder (normally My Pictures\Photo Stream\Uploads).

You might try uninstalling the iCloud control panel (listed as "iCloud" on the uninstall programs list), then reinstalling it from here: http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1455.

Hi I use a windows PC with XP Professional. I installed iloud on my PC s per the instructions from the Apple website.
In the iCloud control panel all the selections are available but the Photo stream selection is grey. This means i cannot sellect photo stream.
Anyone know how to fix this?iCloud does not support Windows XP.

Can anyone help, please. I never had this problem before but now I can not check the photos box on the icloud control box...its the faded gray area and I can't select that option.
What worked for me and others was to uninstall icloud, restart pc and reinstall icloud.

Since last update I dont have my stream pictures on my PC, and I notice in the icloud control panel appears unmarked but if I marked save and close, next time I check is unmarked againg

I should have mentioned that I have signed out of the iCloud Control Panel several times and no syncing occurs.

Why is my photo stream greyed out in the iCloud Control Panel?
I had the same problem. I think it must be caused by the fact that i bought a charger in Apple Store Tokyo, and then entered my email address on the warranty form. Ever since emails in Japanese started appearing. When I now enabled Shared Photo Streams, my friends got invitations from me in Japanese too.
I was looking everywhere for language settings, but they all seemed in order. On iCloud that is.
It turns out it was the language settings on my apple-ID, not my iCloud-ID that was wrong, after a purchase at Apple Store Tokyo. Who would have thought that these two IDs were related? Or maybe they should be, but then why are they not even more integrated? Duplicate language settings?
This solved the problem:
1. Log into appleid.apple.com
2. Set the language.
The real problem however, is that Apple changed my language after a visit to an Apple Store. Come on! I already had a Norwegian apple-ID, a Norwegian credit card, and a Norwegian address. What could possibly make you think that I suddenly spoke Japanese? Ever happened that a tourist visited an Apple Store? Companies needs to learn that customers can make their own decisions, and often do, or want to do it, if they are allowed to do so. Examples of features that was designed not considering this fact: The play button on a Mac always launching iTunes, even though I'm already playing music in Spotify (and never use iTunes for music). Or Spotifys obsession with reporting everything you listen to, turning off the Private Session after 6 hours, so you have to make that setting every time you start playing music. -
When I open the icloud control panel, I cannot select the option to "turn on" photo stream. The option is there but i cannot click on it. How do I fix this problem?

No. iCloud doesn't back up photo stream photos; it streams them to your other devices. If you delete a photo stream photo from your phone it will be deleted from iCloud and all other devices/computers sharing your photo stream.
You can't really use iCloud to store your photos so you can free up space on your phone. If you want to free up space, you'll need to import your camera roll photos to your computer and delete them from your phone as explained here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4083. If you have photo stream photos that are not in your camera roll, save them to your camera roll so they can be imported too. -
I checked my iphone and icloud is set to share my Photo Stream but from my computer with icloud 2.1.2 the Photo Stream option is greyed out and I can't select it. What to do??
Some people have fixed this by uninstalling iCloud (control panel>uninstall or change a program>iCloud>uninstall), restarting the PC, then download and reinstall the iCloud control panel for Windows: http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1455.

You might not have the plugin for Firefox installed. Adobe has two different versions of Flash - one for Internet Explorer and another for Firefox. Internet Explorer uses ActiveX. You can check if Firefox has the plugin by going to:

On my PC when I try and view photos via the iCloud photo option I am constantly faced with "iCloud Photos is not enabled" even though on the iCloud control panel it is... Why!? And how the holy **** do I fix the issue?
