Hi I use a windows PC with XP Professional. I installed iloud on my PC s per the instructions from the Apple website.
In the iCloud control panel all the selections are available but the Photo stream selection is grey. This means i cannot sellect photo stream.
Anyone know how to fix this?
iCloud does not support Windows XP.

Photostream to my Windows 7 computer has stopped working. When I open icloud control panel, photostream has become unchecked even though it has been previously checked. When I first downloaded iCloud to my PC a little while back, Photo Stream initially worked. I was able to check/uncheck both boxes available to me, as well as click the Options tab to the right of Photo Stream. I could make changes, click "Apply", and everything was fine and dandy.
Within a day, I opened the iCloud Control Panel, and despite how many times I would uncheck Bookmarks, it didn't matter. I would click "Apply", and it would automatically ask me to sign in again. When I did this, Bookmarks would be checked again. Additionally, Photo Stream was grayed out; I was unable to check the box (which was unchecked), and I was unable to go to Options.
Somehow, I managed to get my iCloud Control Panel "unstuck", and currently, it is working fine. There are 2 steps that I did to accomplish this. The 1st step listed below may be the crucial element for those whose reinstallation of the program has not succeeded, in and of itself. It is a change that I haven't come across as a possible part of a solution to this problem; I just happened to stumble upon this whilst searching my PC for possible fixes to the problem.
Step 1: Find your iCloud File Folder. (On my PC, I clicked the Start button in the lower left corner, then clicked All Programs, and finally scrolled down to where all the folders for various "things" are.) Click the Folder and a sub-list will appear, with items such as Calendar, Mail, etc. Right-Click the iCloud Program icon, and at the bottom of the list that appears, click on Properties. At the top, there are 5 tabs. Click the Compatibility tab, and you should see, at the top, the following words: "If you have problems with this program and it worked correctly on an earlier version of Windows, select the compatibility mode that matches that earlier version." Following these words is a dropbox underneath "Compatibility Mode", and for some reason - I have no idea why this is - the box was initially checked to run the program in compatibility mode for "Windows XP (Service Pack 2)". (And from what I understand, Windows XP is not a compatible Windows Edition for iCloud, so I have no idea why this box was checked.) If the box underneath "Compatibility Mode" is checked, than it is running iCloud in compatibility mode for any number of earlier Windows' Editions. Uncheck this box, click the "Apply" button, and then click "OK".
Step 2: Find your PC's Control Panel. (On my PC, I clicked the Start button in the lower left corner, and then clicked Control Panel in the list to the right.) In the Control Panel, click Programs. Under Programs and Features, Click "Uninstall a program" (and bear with me here, because you are actually not going to uninstall iCloud). Now, scroll down the list and find "iCloud". Double-click the "iCloud" icon, and a panel with 2 options should appear: "Repair" and "Remove". Check the "Repair" box, which will reinstall the same iCloud Control Panel, replacing missing or damaged files. ("Remove" will just .. well ... remove iCloud from the computer - or, if you prefer, uninstall the program.) Click Next, and the repairing process will begin and end. And that is it - you're done. Task Completed.
Well, in the end, this worked for me. Photo Stream was no longer grayed out. I could permanently uncheck Bookmarks (finally). The Options tab for Photo Stream would open. Anytime that I clicked the "Apply" button after checking/unchecking boxes, it wouldn't ask me to sign in again (only to come back to a Control Panel that looked just like it did before I made any changes to it.). And, I created a Shared Photo Stream on my phone using photos from my Camera Roll (to test the program), and the Shared Photo Stream appeared on my PC's Photo Stream in no time. Hopefully, this will work for you too (regardless of the Windows Edition you are currently using). ~ Brian -
Cannot install ICloud Control Panel to Laptop using Windows 8
I cannot install the ICloud Control Panel on our Laptop.
Tried several times to install but get an error code at the
very end of the install. Not sure why.
Installed perfectly on another PC.I have the same issue on my new laptop running Windows 8.1. When trying to install iCloud Control Panel 3.1 it stops at 'Updating component registration' and displays the alert 'the process cannot access the file because another process has locked a portion of the file'. Can anyone help?

I checked my iphone and icloud is set to share my Photo Stream but from my computer with icloud 2.1.2 the Photo Stream option is greyed out and I can't select it. What to do??
Some people have fixed this by uninstalling iCloud (control panel>uninstall or change a program>iCloud>uninstall), restarting the PC, then download and reinstall the iCloud control panel for Windows: http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1455.

using firefox 3.6.3 - generally love the program - when I open an email with a photo attachment (I use mac and yahoo) I click on download the photo and I'm asked to save file -i dont get the option to simply oprn the attahment - i dont want to save - simply open (if I uses safari to double check the problem with same email I do have the choice to open) - do i have some setting wrong - I love firefox but his is really annoying Thanks for your help

I have used Aperture since it was launched and have for the last 4 years , only shot RAW . I have not encountered this problem before , but it is ruining my photography and would I therefore love some help please .
William , thank you. I feel that the loss of half to one stop of exposure is the easiest issue to remedy. How do I fix the green tinge and the loss of sharpness ? I assume I merely use Aperture or a plug-in to re-sharpen the photos and adjust the colour balance back to the originals . Is there a fast way of doing this in bulk , as I have a project with several thousand files ?
By the way...I sort of understand that HTP can change the colour range and the exposure ( I think !! ) , but why does it soften the sharpness ? -
I have just successfully installed icloud on my PC. However I cannot login to the control panel due to a server erro. I have uninstalled and reinstalled but still get the same message. Any ideas?

I'm trying to look at my past photos in my camera roll but all that's there is a block and when I try to click on it the photo says "Loading" but nothing ever shows up. I can't click edit or anything. When I plug my phone in to my computer and open the photo folder they're not even there. It's like I never took these photos

Your add-ons list shows AVG, ZoneAlarm, and McAfee products. Could one of them be blocking this site? See whether you can add exceptions or just disable them temporarily and test whether that helps. -
my computer (window 7) give me message "photo stream is not enabled. when i go to icloud control panel on computer (icloud version2 ) for activation. its not being activated. i tried many times but failed. when i check the photo stream option and apply its shows that its ok. and after closing when i again open icloud panel the photo stream option remains unchecked that means its not activated. please guide me.
Had the same problem. I uninstalled icloud, restarted my pc and reinstalled icloud and it's working fine. Hope this helps.

Solution to iCloud control panel 4 sign-in server error under windows 8.1x64
Potential solution for icloud 3.1 and 4.0 installation and iTune store sign-in, all showing errors or sign-in errors due to server error.
My setup is Iphone 4S upgraded to ios8, ipad Air still on 7.1.2, windows PC on Win8.1x64 and with icloud 3.1 working fine till I tried to
upgrade/install/re-install 4.0 icloud control panel after upgrade to ios8. See end of message for other alternatives I had tried.
This worked for me.
There seem to be some programmes that is conflicting with Apple's, so download this free program autoruns suggested by Apple software on Windows: May see performance issues and blank iTunes Store
Run the program and choose the the "Winsock Providers", any other programme that shows up here except Bonjour (which is used by Apple) may be conflicting with the sign-in.
Uninstall those potentially conflicting programs
Inside autoruns->Winsock Provider, right click on the conflicting programs and choose delete. This would stop the conflicting program to start up
again. Reboot the computer
Install icloud control panel, sign in
If works, reinstall those conflicting programs again and all back to normal, with iCloud control panel working
If doesn't work, my mojo not strong enough and you need to google for more help.
Other activities I googled, tried and failed
a) Adding Apple icloud program and services into the windows firewall
b) Uninstall version 4.0, re-install 3.1 (about 10 times)
c) create a new Apple ID to sign in
d) Sign out of icloud from my devices (iphone and ipad)
e) switch to Android devicesYou need to edit the MSI installer and change the Launch Condition to allow iCloud Control Panel 3.1 to be installed on Windows Server 2008 R2.
First, download Orca, an MSI editor. You can get it from the Windows SDK. (Download and only check the box for "Development Tools" under Native components during installation, then go to C:\Program Files\Microsoft SDKs\Windows\v7.1\Bin and install Orca.msi)
Launch Orca and then find the iCloud(64).msi to edit.
If using Apple Software Update, browse to C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\Apple\Apple Software Update and open iCloud(64).msi in Orca.
Or download iCloudSetup.exe and use a zip program (7-zip) to extract the MSI from the exe and open it in Orca.
In Orca, select the LaunchCondition table and look for the condition "(VersionNT >= 601) AND (MsiNTProductType = 1)". Change the number 1 to a number 3 so the condition should read "(VersionNT >= 601) AND (MsiNTProductType = 3)". Save and exit Orca.
Then double click on the msi and it should install successfully now. -
