HT201317 iphoto won't stream to icloud account from mini mac
I have a mac mini, I'm running Safari 10.6.8 and I can't get it to update to 10.7.3. Does this mean I can't have my iphoto stream with icloud? Do I need to purchase Lion OS to make it all work? Help please.

Yes, you need to be running OS X Lion(10.7.2 or better), in order to use iCloud and hence photo stream.

I have tried adding new iCloud accounts and those cannot be removed either.I'd wait a while. A number of people have complained about this and I suspect Apple will find a way to remove them (such as by removing them automatically after a certain period of inactivity).

Can I sign into my icloud account from a friend's computer so i can get to my pictures?
What you need is a file named Domain.sites (iWeb 2) or Domain.sites2 (iWeb 3). Copy it from your laptop to your other computer at home.
It's located in your Users/Home/Library/Application Support/iWeb folder. Place it in the same folder on the other computer.
All the files for the site are contained in that file/package. After editing you will have to publish the changes to your hosting server.
NOTE: In Lion and Mountain Lion the Home/Library folder is now invisible. To make it permanently visible in Lion or Mt. Lion enter the following in the Terminal application window: chflags nohidden ~/Library and press the Return key - 10.7: Un-hide the User Library folder.
For Mavericks, 10.9, go to your Home folder and use the View ➙ Show View Options menu to bring the this window:
where you can check the Show Library Folder checkbox.

Just launch the application, find and select the domain file in your Home/Library/Application Support/iWeb folder that you want to open and it will open with iWeb. It modifies the iWeb preference file each time it's launched so one can switch between domain files.
WARNING: iWeb Switch Domain will overwrite an existing Domain.sites2 file if you select to create a new domain in the same folder. So rename your domain files once they've been created to something other than the default name.

I cannot sign into iCloud Mail from my MAC. I have tried everything that I can think of to change in System Preferences, even deleted the mailbox and reinstalled it ..... nothing works. It is fine on my iPhone 4S!!! Please help ... about to go crazy! There seem to be two accounts one from MobileMe (mail) and iCloud (calendar and contacts find my phone). I have tried moving the mail to iCloud and unticking it on MobileMe but it will not allow me to submit it!

My daughter and I both have the iPhone 4s. We both have seperate iCloud accounts but we use the same computer. We both want our photos backed up into iphoto but I can only seem to log in 1 icloud account on my mac and only that phone has it's photos backed up. Is there any way iPhoto can have 2 icloud accounts backed up?
No. I would suggest using the old fashioned USB cable to iTunes on the comptuter for one of the phones. Or, the ideal is to set up your daughter with her own account on the Mac, than she can set up her iCloud account there.

My wife & son both have iPhones on the her iTunes & iCloud accounts, which causes all sorts of grief with iMessage & iTunes purchases (apps & music) and we need to get son on his own . She has hundreds of notes and thousands of calendar entries that she REALLY doesn't want to lose; he has lots of music & apps (bought on her account) that he REALLY doesn't want to lose.

You need to migrate her device to a different account. To do this, start by saving any photo stream photos that you want to keep to your camera roll (unless already there) by opening your my photo stream album, tapping Select, tapping the photos, tap the share icon (box with upward facing arrow), then tapping Save to Camera Roll. If you are syncing notes with iCloud that you want to keep, you'll need to open each of your notes and email them to yourself so you can later copy and paste the text into new notes created in your new account. Then go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account (which only deletes it from this device, not from iCloud; your devices won't be effected by this), provide the password to turn off Find My iDevice and choose Keep on My iDevice when prompted. Then sign back in with a different Apple ID to create your new account and choose Merge to upload your data.
1) I don't understand the difference between photo stream and camera roll - what's that all about? Sounds quite labour intensive for anything more than a few photos. Son has hundreds of photos taken on the iPhone, wife has dozens - can I just use iTunes to take my wife's photos off her device, and leave son with anything he's got in the cloud?
2) Notes are a real issue - would be horrible to have to mail mail each one and recreate. Is there no way to bulk export, either from phone or cloud?
3) What about calendar entries? The phone only stores the last x months, and the rest are on iCloud. Really don't want to lose these, they are effectively my wife's diary with notes taken at meetings and from our holidays. As they aren't all on the deivce, I don't know if Merge will do what randers4 suggests.
All looks really messy, any help the community can offer is much appreciated.

To answer your first question, that's normal. When you take a photo on your device (or save an image from an email or web page), it is saved to the camera roll. If you have photo stream enabled, new photos/images added to the camera roll are then uploaded to your photo stream. (This happens when the device is connected to wifi with the camera app closed and it has at leaset 20% battery life remaining.) Once added to photo stream, all devices.computers sharing the photo stream then receive a copy of the photo. Since the device that added the photo to camera roll is also sharing the photo stream, it receives a copy of the photo as well, in the my photo stream album. That's how you end up with a copy of the photo in both the camera roll (the original) and in my photo strem (the photo stream copy).

Correct. When you delete the existing iCloud account from his phone, it is only deleted from his phone, not from iCloud. Thus, deleting the account from his phone will not effect any devices that continue to use the existing account. Once his phone is on a separate account, your wife and son can each go to icloud.com from a computer and delete each other's data from their own account without effecting the other account. After doing so, they will only have their own data in their separate accounts.
If you want to deal with the notes on someone else's Mac, you would want to start by going to System Preferences>iCloud on their Mac, click Sign Out, then choose Delete at all of the prompts. This will delete their iCloud account and data from their Mac, but not from iCloud. Then you would sign back in using your existing iCloud account, and check both Notes and Mail (having Mail checked is required in order to sync Notes with iCloud). Next, you would go to System Preferences>Internet Accounts (or Mail,Contacts,Calendars if using OS X Lion)>iCloud, sign into your son's new iCloud account as a secondary account, and check both Mail and Notes in this account as well. Then you should be able to drag and drop the notes between the two accounts inside the Notes app (if you want to copy them, hold down the Option key as you drag and drop; if you want to move them, just drag and drop). When you're done, sign out of both iCloud accounts, choose Delete at all of the prompts, then sign back in to the original iCloud account that the Mac was using. Their iCloud data will then download back to their Mac and it will be as it was when you started. -

If your device is signed into an old ID of yours that is an earlier version of the ID you want to sign in with, do the following:
If you are using iMessage and FaceTime, make sure you are signed into these services with your current ID. If they are signed into the old ID, go to Settings>Messages>Send & Receive and Settings>FaceTime, tap the ID, sign out, then sign back in with your current ID.
Then temporarily recreate the old ID by going to https://appleid.apple.com, click Manage my Apple ID and sign in with your current iCloud ID. Click edit next to the primary email account, change it back to your old email address and save the change. (You should not have to verify the old email account so it doesn’t matter if you no longer have access to it.) Now go to Settings>iCloud, turn off Find My iDevice and enter your current password when prompted (even though it prompts you for the password for your old ID). Then save any photo stream photos that you wish to keep to your camera roll (unless you are using iCloud Photo Library). When finished go to Settings>iCloud, tap Sign Out (or Delete Account if you are not running iOS 8) and choose Delete from My iDevice when prompted (your iCloud data will still be in iCloud). Next, go back to https://appleid.apple.com and change your primary email address back to the way it was. Now you can go to Settings>iCloud and sign back in with your current iCloud ID and password (your data will download back to your device). -

You can't delete an account, you can only stop using it. If you're getting that error message you won't be able to create a new account on your device. Your only options are to re-use one of the accounts previously created, or create a new account on a different iOS device or Mac (running OS X Lion or higher), if you have one.

Using More than One iDevice on the Same Computer
This applies mainly to couples who are adding another device and do not want their email, messages, etc. being duplicated on both devices. To begin read: How to use multiple iPhone, iPad, or iPod devices with one computer. You need to establish a separate Apple ID and password for whomever will use the new iDevice. See Apple - My Apple ID and Frequently asked questions about Apple ID. The easiest way is to do this on the computer using iTunes: iTunes- How to set up an Apple ID within iTunes.
On the computer create a new user account for the person with the new iDevice. This will be the user account that person will always use. He/She will no longer use the other user account. This way that person will have a separate iTunes Library
Start by transferring the new device(s) to a new account along with all your data. Save any photo stream photos that you want to keep to your camera roll (unless they are already in the camera roll) by opening your Photos app, tap on Albums icon at the bottom. Tap on Settings > iCloud > Delete Account (only deletes it from this device, not from iCloud; the person keeping the current account will not be affected,) provide the password to turn off Find My Phone and choose Keep on My iDevice when prompted. Sign in with a different Apple ID to create your new account. Choose Merge to upload your data.
Once you are on separate accounts, you can each go to icloud.com and delete the other person's data from your account.

I'm setting up a PC for someone else and I have to access my iCloud account from this new system
All I want to do is get into my iCloud account from a different system (pc) that is new so I can set it up. it is so locked up with "we need your name" that I hate buying anything with new OS. It;'s all in your bank account on your street in your bedroom. invasive.

Can't sign in using any 3rd party email client with my iCloud account on any Mac or any other Mac. My iCloud will only work with Mail.app. All the clients I tried work perfectly well as long as I sign in with somebody else's iCloud account. But mine won't work no matter the client (Postbox, Unibox, Airmail...) and no matter the computer.
I can access my account on iCloud.com, but I can't use email clients without getting error messages prompting me to check my password or login.
I was able to use those clients in the past but a couple of months ago I got logged out of Airmail and the issue started just like that!
I tried every possible mail server settings including the following:
IMAP information for the incoming mail server
Server name: imap.mail.me.com
SSL Required: Yes
If you receive errors when using SSL, try using TLS instead.
Port: 993
Username: The name part of your iCloud email address (for example, emilyparker, not [email protected])
Password: Your iCloud password
SMTP information for the outgoing mail server
Server name: smtp.mail.me.com
SSL Required: Yes
If you receive errors when using SSL, try using TLS instead.
Port: 587
SMTP Authentication Required: Yes
Username: Your full iCloud email address (for example, [email protected], not emilyparker)
Password: Your iCloud passwordThose are the correct settings, and they work with any email client that supports Imap.
