HT201317 No video via photo stream into iPhoto with iOS7?

I can see the video I shared with my 5s iOS7 on other devices with iOS7 (iPad, other phones with iOS7) but not in my photo shared folder my own iPhoto on an iMac?
My iMac is updated. Is there an update coming our way to allow this to happen?

You're right. It looks like Aperture and iPhoto need to be updated by Apple to take advantage of this new feature, ie, videos in photostreams.  It's strange that Apple doesn't document this fact anywhere as far as I can see.  They should have explicitly stated this as a limitation in mac documentation once IOS 7 was released.
I'm thinking this feature will come along with the release of OS X Mavericks, but that's just a guess...  anyone know for sure?

  • How do you open an image on the iPad, via Photo Stream, into PS Touch?

To anyone using an Apple iPad w/ PS Touch.  How do you open an image on the iPad, via Photo Stream, into PS Touch?

You need to start from PS Touch for this.
There's two ways either direct in the gallery with the +image icon.
Or you create a document and use the +image icon in the document view.

  • I have a large number of photos imported into iPhoto with the dates wrong.  How can I adjust multiple photos (with varying dates) to the same, correct, date?

I have a large number of photos imported into iPhoto with the dates wrong.  How can I adjust multiple photos (with varying dates) to the same, correct, date?

If I understand you correctly, when you enter a date in the Adjust Date and Time window, the picture does not update with the date you enter.  If that is the case then something is wrong with iPhoto or your perhaps your library.
How large a date change are you putting in?  iPhoto currently has an issue with date changes beyond about 60 years at a time.  If the difference between the current date on the image and the date you are entering is beyond that range that may explain why this is not working.
If that is not the case:
Remove the following to the trash and restart the computer and try again:
    Home > Library > Caches > com.apple.iphoto
Home > Library > Preferences > com.apple.iPhoto (There may be more than one. Remove them all.)
---NOTE: to get to the "home > library" hold down option on the keyboard and click on "Go" > "Library" while in the Finder.
    Let me know the results.

  • Import video from photo stream to iPhoto library

Hello, I'm trying to import a video from a friend's photo stream ( which I've subscribed to ) into iPhoto on my MacBook Pro.   The video doesn't show up in iPhoto shared , but the photo stream does as well as photos in the stream.   I've checked other photo streams with videos and I am able to import those.
The particular video I'm after is about 2 minutes long, was taken on a friends iPhone 4.   I'm able to see the video by subscribing my iPhone 5 to the photo stream, so I don't understand why it's not showing up in iPhoto on my MacBook Pro.
Should I have my friend re-send the video to her photo stream ?   Any other ideas ?
    MacOS 10.9.3
    iPhoto 9.5

    Thank you Winston!

  • Importing 2 icloud photo streams into iPhoto

    Just as the title states..
My wife and I just started our own seperate iCloud accounts and now it seems like we can't combine them in iPhoto.  Before we used one account and pictures were seamlessly across all devices, and now since iOS 8 and continuity out personal iPhones are more connected than we want.  So is there a way to get her photo's and my photo's into photo stream without creating a special album were we have to share them to it and the photo's automatically show up in the iCloud section?
    Thanks for any help!

thank you.  so in order to optimize my HDD usage, I ought to import the photo into iPhoto and then delete the original folder?
Yes, you can delete the files you imported. But don't be in a hurry. I'd back them up somewhere, until you are sure that everything imported well.
last - is there any meta-tagging option in iPhoto?
    You can
batch change titles, date, and description,
    add keywords
    tag faces
and tag places on a map.

  • Way to import photos back into iphoto with tags intact?

I use iPhoto Library Manager to manage a few different albums ... decided to re-consolidate ... exported em out, then re-imported them into the default iPhoto Library ... but alas, the tags were gone!
I was wise enough to leave the other album alone ... is there a way I can do this without losing the tags?
    thanks Mac ppl

The only way to do this is to move the files between libraries using iPhoto Library Manager. Check out the merge feature.

Log out of iCloud in the System/iCloud preference pane and disable Photo Stream in iPhoto's Photo Share preference pane.  Then log back in and re-enable, respectively.  That should jump start Photo Stream.

  • How can I stop iPhoto from grouping each month's Photo Stream into one huge event?

My iPhoto preferences are set to split events up based on 2-hour time periods. But photos that enter my iPhoto library via Photo Stream (basically all photos from my iPhone) get grouped into one big monthly event (i.e. titled something like "Jun 2012 Photo Stream"), which I then have to manually break up into smaller, more meaningful events.
Does anyone know of a way to make this behaviour stop? I'd prefer that iPhoto follow the preferences I have set, which is to break up events based on 2-hour time spans.

The problem is that every import is at least one new Event, and so it's quite possible that you could have 1,000 new Events every month thanks to Phootstream.
However, it's not such a huge deal to just select the Event at the end of the month and auto-split it (in the Events menu)

  • IPhoto not showing videos in Photo Stream

Does anyone know why I can't see my videos which have transferred from my iPhone to my computer via Photo Stream?

WTH is the difference between "my photo stream" and "iCloud Photo Sharing"?
"With iCloud Photo Sharing, you can share photos and videos with just the people you choose, and you can let them add their own photos, videos, and comments.
iCloud Photo Sharing adds new features to shared photo streams, including the ability to share videos and allow subscribers to contribute to your shared streams. These new features work with the following devices and software:
iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch using iOS 7
Mac using OS X v10.9 or later and either iPhoto 9.5 or Aperture 3.5
Apple TV with Apple TV software 6.0
Windows PC using Windows 7 or later and iCloud Control Panel 3.0 or later
If you are using earlier versions of iOS, iCloud Control Panel, iPhoto, or Aperture, you can still create and view shared photo streams. Learn more."
    The above is from
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5902
Sadly I AM HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM as the OP.
I can share my iphone 4S videos with others via the Share option to icloud (it sends them an invite and they approve and then can view the videos) but I can't figure out how to use photo stream to get them to my Macbook Pro (yes, I can probably connect via itunes but thats not the point).
A little postscript, does anyone have the faintest idea how to read these support pages on the iphone without a magnifying glass?

  • IPhoto Description Data sharing via Photo Stream

I have a lot of photos in iPhoto on one MACbook with descrition and location info manually added. When I share these photos via Photo Stream to another MACbook, all the description and location data is not passed across. How can I share the photos via Photo Stream with the attached descrition and location data?

    You can't.  If you want the titles you've added to the photos to be displayed instead of the acutual filie name you'll need to do the following;
1 - export to the Desktop via File ➙ Export ➙ File Export menu with the option File Name: Title.
2 - import the renamed photos back into iPhoto and use them in the Photo Stream.

  • Why does iPhoto change the sort order of the photos in my album when I attempt to share via Photo Stream?

Why does iPhoto change the sort order of the photos in my album when I attempt to share via Photo Stream?

Did anyone find a good way to sort the shared albums better, so that the ones you share with can better find their way around.
You can arrange them manually in an album, select all and use the Photos ➙ Batch Change ➙ Date to menu option and check the box to add a set interval between photos. That will let the photos be sorted by date and be in the order you want:

  • Some iPhone 4S photos imported via Photo Stream are black

I'm seeing a whole bunch of iPhone 4S photos imported via Photo Stream as black images in latest iPhoto '11.  When I look at the original file in finder, it is intact, however the modified one is just a black image (which is what shows up in iPhoto).
This is very concerning.  I'm now manually re-importing all my 4S photos.
Strangely, the same photos that appear black in iPhoto Photo Stream are fine on my iPad and iPhone Photo Stream view.
So it seems that iPhoto is breaking them when it imports them.

There are several possible causes for the Black Screen issue
    1. Permissions in the Library: Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Include the option to check and repair permissions.
    2. Minor Database corruption: Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild.
    3. A Damaged Photo: Select one of the affected photos in the iPhoto Window and right click on it. From the resulting menu select 'Show File (or 'Show Original File' if that's available). Will the file open in Preview? If not then the file is damaged. Time to restore from your back up.
    4. A corrupted iPhoto Cache: Trash the com.apple.iPhoto folder from HD/Users/Your Name/Library/ Caches...
    5. A corrupted preference file: Trash the com.apple.iPhoto.plist file from the HD/Users/ Your Name / library / preferences folder. (Remember you'll need to reset your User options afterwards. These include minor settings like the window colour and so on. Note: If you've moved your library you'll need to point iPhoto at it again.)
    If none of these help:
    As a Test:
Hold down the option (or alt) key key and launch iPhoto. From the resulting menu select 'Create Library'
Import a few pics into this new, blank library. Is the Problem repeated there?

  • Photo Stream in iPhoto

    Hello,
I tried to find this in the forums, but couldn't.
In iPhoto, I see events such as "September 2012 Photo Stream".  Once these are on my iMac, will they stay there, even if removed from photo stream, or if the photo stream passes it's expiration date?  Or do these photos need to be imported from photo stream to stay on the computer?
Also - is there a way to have videos post to photo stream?
    Thanks.

Photos imported into iPhoto will stay after being deleted from PS. So if you manually import them into iPhoto from PS or if you automatically import them (set the automatic import in the iPhoto preferences). Otherwise they go away from all PS feeds when deleted
Videos are not supported in PS

  • How get all photos from photo streams without iPhoto

Hi to make A long story short, I lost a Hard Drive with iPhoto on it... Including all my baby's pics ... However I can still see them in the photo streams on my idevices.. First off without that Mac how can just grab all the photos off photo stream without iPhoto?
Secondly, if I can install iPhoto on another machine or drive will that help or hurt me? Will all the photos show up under my Apple ID and can I just copy them or am I running any risk of deleting the streams?
Is my only option to copy photos from photo stream a few at a time? And does that not repush them back up to the stream and erase older photos?
    Thank you for any help!!
Yes I know I am a complete idiot for not backing up or using online backup service...

If you create a new library on another Mac, set its Photo Stream preferences to
and log into your iCloud account on that Mac and enable Photo Stream,  the Photo Stream photos will automatically be imported into the new library. It can take a while depending on how many photos are in the stream.
When you're done log out of your iCloud account and copy the library to a flash drive or DVD (if small enought) till you get your new drive.
