HT201317 Photostream

Helo,
Why are my photos taken from my iphone 4s not appearing on my MacBook Air or my Ipad 2 ? I have the photostream turned on on all devices.  Please help me resolve my photo sharing issues.  Thanks

Take a new photo on your phone, then close the camera app and see if the photo appears in the my photo stream album after a minute or two (must be connecte to wifi and have at least 20% battery life remaining).  If it doesn't, they aren't uploading to photo stream.  In that case, save any photo stream photos to your camera roll (unless already there) by tapping Edit, tap the photos, tap Share, then tap Save to Camera Roll.  Then go to Settings>iCloud and turn photo stream off, wait a minute or so then turn ti back on.  Then try taking a new photo and see if it appears in your my photo stream album this time.

  • HT201317 Photostream doesn't work in iPhoto

I have turned on Photostream in System Preferences on my iMac, but it doesn't work. I have tried to enable it in iPhoto but it returns the message: "iPhoto was unable to connect to Photostream". I am running OS X 10.7.5. Any suggestions? There are no software updates available.

As a test launch iPhoto with the Option key held down and create a new, test library.  Enable Photo Stream in it and test to see if the same problem persists. Does it?

Photostream to my Windows 7 computer has stopped working. When I open icloud control panel, photostream has become unchecked even though it has been previously checked. I check it again but when I click options, nothing happens. I click apply and close, but next time I open the control panel, Photostream has become unchecked again. What can I do?

    Lisaglenoak:
When I first downloaded iCloud to my PC a little while back, Photo Stream initially worked. I was able to check/uncheck both boxes available to me, as well as click the Options tab to the right of Photo Stream. I could make changes, click "Apply", and everything was fine and dandy.
Within a day, I opened the iCloud Control Panel, and despite how many times I would uncheck Bookmarks, it didn't matter. I would click "Apply", and it would automatically ask me to sign in again. When I did this, Bookmarks would be checked again. Additionally, Photo Stream was grayed out; I was unable to check the box (which was unchecked), and I was unable to go to Options.
Somehow, I managed to get my iCloud Control Panel "unstuck", and currently, it is working fine. There are 2 steps that I did to accomplish this. The 1st step listed below may be the crucial element for those whose reinstallation of the program has not succeeded, in and of itself. It is a change that I haven't come across as a possible part of a solution to this problem; I just happened to stumble upon this whilst searching my PC for possible fixes to the problem.
Step 1: Find your iCloud File Folder. (On my PC, I clicked the Start button in the lower left corner, then clicked All Programs, and finally scrolled down to where all the folders for various "things" are.) Click the Folder and a sub-list will appear, with items such as Calendar, Mail, etc. Right-Click the iCloud Program icon, and at the bottom of the list that appears, click on Properties. At the top, there are 5 tabs. Click the Compatibility tab, and you should see, at the top, the following words: "If you have problems with this program and it worked correctly on an earlier version of Windows, select the compatibility mode that matches that earlier version." Following these words is a dropbox underneath "Compatibility Mode", and for some reason - I have no idea why this is - the box was initially checked to run the program in compatibility mode for "Windows XP (Service Pack 2)". (And from what I understand, Windows XP is not a compatible Windows Edition for iCloud, so I have no idea why this box was checked.) If the box underneath "Compatibility Mode" is checked, than it is running iCloud in compatibility mode for any number of earlier Windows' Editions. Uncheck this box, click the "Apply" button, and then click "OK".
Step 2: Find your PC's Control Panel. (On my PC, I clicked the Start button in the lower left corner, and then clicked Control Panel in the list to the right.) In the Control Panel, click Programs. Under Programs and Features, Click "Uninstall a program" (and bear with me here, because you are actually not going to uninstall iCloud). Now, scroll down the list and find "iCloud". Double-click the "iCloud" icon, and a panel with 2 options should appear: "Repair" and "Remove". Check the "Repair" box, which will reinstall the same iCloud Control Panel, replacing missing or damaged files. ("Remove" will just .. well ... remove iCloud from the computer - or, if you prefer, uninstall the program.) Click Next, and the repairing process will begin and end. And that is it - you're done. Task Completed.
Well, in the end, this worked for me. Photo Stream was no longer grayed out. I could permanently uncheck Bookmarks (finally). The Options tab for Photo Stream would open. Anytime that I clicked the "Apply" button after checking/unchecking boxes, it wouldn't ask me to sign in again (only to come back to a Control Panel that looked just like it did before I made any changes to it.). And, I created a Shared Photo Stream on my phone using photos from my Camera Roll (to test the program), and the Shared Photo Stream appeared on my PC's Photo Stream in no time. Hopefully, this will work for you too (regardless of the Windows Edition you are currently using).     ~ Brian

  • HT201317 Photostream not uploading from iPhone to iPhoto

iPhone photos not uploading to my iMac iPhoto app. Everything is set to on for Photostream on both devices. Camera is shut down on phone. Wi-fi is set on for both devices. Phone shows in Photostream album. Nothing online in Photostream or iPhoto on Mac.

Same problem here!  Just upgraded my iMac (Version 10.8 | 3.06 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo | 4 GB 1067 MHz RAM) to Mountain Lion this morning and all of a sudden my photostream will not sync photos from my iPad2 or iPhone4S to my iPhoto (fully updated) on the iMac.
Yes.  iPhoto has been fully updated.
Yes.  iPhone4S and iPad2 are also fully updated.
Yes.  Wifi is good on all devices.
Yes.  iPhone4S shows photostream working on it.
Yes.  iPad2 shows photostream working on it.
Yes.  iPhoto is enabled and signed in with iTunes account on my iMac.
    And...
No.   iPhoto on iMac will not bring the photos in from iPhone4S or iPad2.
Anyone have any ideas or know of any info regarding this?  Thanks!

  • HT201317 Photostream is replicating my photos at random

Photostream is replicating my photos on my iPad only at random, sometimes up to 10 times, it also has edited duplicates, i.e. just a corner of a photo.
    How do I stop this?

You can sync any photo(s) that are in iPhoto to Photostream.  Just click on the photos that you want and click the share button in the lower right of the screen.  There's an option there to share with Photostream.  You need iPhoto '11 and you need to have Photostream enabled in preferences and make sure the "Automatic Upload" option is checked.
    Hope that helps.

    Hello Rich,
I'm afraid it must be the solution.
On your opinion how can I understand why the problem occur only to this user while the other ones are working without any problems?
Thanks a lot for the suggestion.

  • HT201317 Photostream for photos taken with locked phone?

In this article, it says ALL photos will automatically be added to photostream when taken on the iOS device. But I think that's not true if you take photos with a locked phone (sliding up the camera icon on the password page instead of entering password)?

    Hi Stephen,
Yes I'm aware I need to connect to wifi to sync photostream. And when I do that some photos sync and some don't. It seems it's the photos taken with a locked phone that don't sync. Or maybe it's something else that just happen to occur at the same time, otherwise I can't understand why some sync and others don't. And there's no rhyme or reason, it's not the first or last that sync, it's some do and some don't "randomly".

  • HT201317 PhotoStreaming and iCloud

My iPhone was recently stolen and my photo's weren't Streamed to teh iCloud and I hadn't backed my phone up in a month so needless to say I lost to many memories.  So my question is 2 parted.
    1.  If I Photo Stream my photo's from my iPhone to the iCloud is there a way to not make them sync to all my other devices on the iCloud? I just want them on my phone and in the iCloud.  So I don't lose anything important again.
    2.  Also I first put my stolen phone in lost mode, then suspened it, and finally I erased it before setting up my new phone.  The phone is still showing offline and the erase is Pending until the device connects to the internet.  Well I have no idea when that will happen or even where the phone is at this point.  The stolen phone is taking up a lot of iCloud storage and won't back up my new phone.  Should I remove the stolen phone from my iCloud or wait until it show's the erase was completed?
I am so upset about my phone and all the lost memories I will never get back.
If anyone has any advice that would be awesome.
    Thanks,
    gspina8

iCloud and Photo Stream are not a photo backup service. They are more for syncing and sharing content between multiple devices. If you want to truly back up photos you have to get them off the device and organized in a photo app on a computer. The photo library can then be synced back to the iOS device. The computer is then setup to backup to external USB drives and optionally an online back up service such as Carbonite.
No irreplacealbe file such as photos should live on one device or rely on one backup. You should have multiple backups. And I can't stress enough, even though iCloud can hold an iOS devices backup, it is not a good place to keep files backed up to.

  • HT201317 Photostreaming with a non-working iPhone

My iPhone is no longer working. Is there any way I can get the photos from the phone through iCloud?

Your phone would have to be working in order to connect to the iCloud server and upload photos to photo stream.  If you can't turn on the phone, connect it to your computer and are unable to import the photos as described here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4083 then you won't be able to rescue the photos unless you have a backup.

  • HT201317 My photos are syncing from my iPhone, to the iCloud PhotoStream and to our iPad, but it is no longer syncing to my computer (Microsoft, not Apple).   Why would this happen and how can I get it resolved?

My photos are syncing from my iPhone to the iCloud PhotoStream and to our iPad, but they are no longer syncing to our home computer (Microsoft operating system, not Apple).   Why would this happen and how can I get it resolved?  I have since tried to remove and reinstall the iCloud application in my computer's control panel.  I have verified that I am using the latest Apple operating system and the latest iTunes.  I have reset my photo stream.  Not sure what else to try...   I was also having an issue with my calendar where it would sync from my computer to my iPhone but not vice versa.  Somehow in all the resetting that's resolved, but the photo issue is not.   Again - photos are going into the photostream, but not wirelessly being put into the file on my computer.

To change the iCloud ID on your device you have to go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account, provide the password to turn off Find My iPhone when prompted, then sign back in with the ID you wish to use.

  • HT201317 how can I save pictures from photostream to my pc that I already took

I am sorry if this has been asked and answered, but I can't seem to find an answer (that I am willing to accept!).
I have an Iphone, Ipad and PC.
My iphone and ipad both have photostream (about 650 pictures each), and the camera rolls only have about 100 pictures each.  I am not sure why my photostream has more pictures, possibly the photostream is the culmination of my iphone 4 and 5.  I do not normaly sync with itunes with a cable on my PC.  I do have icloud, and it has about 5 gigs full.
There are a bunch of pictures in photostream that I want, so that I can make a photoalbum with shutterfly, etc.  However, when I try and save or email the pictures from photostream to myself, the file size is under 1 meg. (640k), but the pictures should be 2 megs+.  From reading posts, it seems that Apple adjusts the size to display on apple devices.  Also, I have seen where photostream can automatically download pictures to your pc in their original format, but this feature is for going forward, not prior pictures taken.
However, my challenge is to be able to access previously taken pictures, in their original file/quality size, to save to my PC.
Is their a computer program, or something else?  I seemed to read that "maybe" if I had a MAC with iphoto, that it might let me import from photostream in original format, but even that was not 100%.
Please help, as these are pictures were taken over several months time, and I need to put them in a photo book for a friend.
I am willing to do anything, even buy a MAC, if I can just get my photos off of photostream (or icloud), in their original size and glory.
    Thanks so much.

Photos are downloaded to a computer from an iPhone similar to the way a digital camera works. Using iCloud to transfer photos to a PC requires the iCloud Control Panel. Read this article for more help on both methods:

  • HT201317 The pictures in my photostream folder on my computer are being deleted when the pictures are deleted from photostream on individual devices.  The photos on the computer were supposed to be permanent.  Can I stop photostream from deleting from my

The original photstream instructions, and the current photostream information page on the apple website, say that photos on your pc or mac computer that have been synced by photostream are permanent but the latest updatge seems to have changed that so when items are deleted from any device they are deleted from all devices, including images that have gotten older and have rolled out of photostream on my iphone.  I trusted photostream to save these images on my computer and now they appear to be gone.  Can I turn off the option of deleting photostream images from my computer or do I need to copy these images to another folder to save them from being deleted when they are deleted from the device.

so say I take a picture with my phone. that picture is now located in my camera roll and uploads to my iclouds photostream, which I can then view on my computer. now my question is this: is the photos in my stream, on my comp permanent, allowing me to then delete them from my phones camera roll?
    No
Photostream keeps them for 30 days.

    Okay, I figured it out.
I would clear the cache while the page was still being viewed in a window, and for some reason that didn't actually clear the cache. So that's the browser's being a good little browser, but it's annoying because it should clear everything.
iWeb also has a problem in that is tells pages to cache forever, so the browsers are only doing what they're told.
Close the window, clear the cache, good to go.
