  • Restore photos from icloud

I have recently lost my iphone whilst travelling and need to recover my photos. I have been backing my iphone up with icloud so I assumed my camera roll would be saved there. However, when my icloud is logged onto there are no photos to be seen...just contacts, notes, mail etc.
I have been reading the other forums but I'm still confused! Are they there somewhere and able to be restored to my ipad? If so, how do I do this?

Ok so until I buy a new iphone and restore it via icloud I cannot access these photos at all?
And if my lost iphone is offline on the find my iphone app, and therefore the lost mode has not been activated, does that mean that whoever finds it may be able to get access to it? I am worried my photos and any personal details stored will be accessed and I'm not sure what to do.
    Thanks

  • I don't want to restore photos from icloud onto my new iphone

    Hi there,
I had an iPhone 4 and just got a new 5c. I backed up my 4 to icloud as i dont't own a laptop. I bought 20GB of storage and everything seemed to work. When I set up new iPhone i selected 'Restore from iCloud Back up' as I need old contacts on this new phone HOWEVER, I do not want all photos on new phone as I donot have enough space and they will fill up my memory. They are already in my iCloud  so I shouldn't need them on new phone. I didn't see any option to just restore data rather than media and so photo stream is downloading constantly but wont finish as there is not enough space on phone. How can I just restore contacts to new phone and not pictures? My other option could be to set up as new iphone, but if I do this can I then download the contacts from my icloud seperately?
    Going slowly insane.

You can't restore only part of the backup.  Only camera roll photos are stored in the backup and they will have to be restored as part of restoring the entire backup.  Photo stream photos are not stored in the backup; photo stream photos from the last 30 days will stream to your new phone when it signs into your iCloud account.  You can stop this by turning off my photo stream in Settings>iCloud>Photos.
The other thing you should be aware of is that you can't have photos in iCloud that are not also on your phone.  If you delete them from your phone, they will be deleted from iCloud.

  • How do I restore photos from iCloud to iPhone?

I had to replace my phone so I backed it up with iCloud. Photos and everything when I signed in with apple of everything else came up contacts music etcetera. But not photos. Where'd they go?

Did you restore your iCloud backup to your phone?  That would included your camera roll photos.

  • Restoring Photos from iCloud without the Backup

So the guys at the Apple Store thought my backup was corrupt and asked me to Factory Reset my phone and manual restore the data.
So far so good.  However, the phone is refusing to restore the photos.  It brings back a few hundred and then stops.
I have the pictures saved elsewhere because I'm deeply paranoid about such things, but I am missing something or is this really how iCloud works?  Because if that's the case it's practically worthless compared to local backups???

You're welcome.  You can still recover your photos though...  Here's the process:
Connect your phone to iTunes, right-click on the name of your phone on the left side (if using iTunes 11 first go to View>Show Sidebar) and select Back Up.  This will create a backup of your phone on your computer.
Go to Settings>General>Reset and tap Erase All Contents and Settings.  This will erase the phone and bring your back to the setup screens again.
Go through the setup again, and when given the option, choose Restore from iCloud Backup (see image below), sign into the iCloud account where your backup is stored and select your backup to restore from.
When it's done restoring, import the photos to your computer as explained here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4083.
After confirming that your photos are saved to your computer, go back to Settings>General>Reset and tap Erase All Content and Settings again.
Go back through the setup screens again, and when given the option, this time choose Restore from iTunes Backup, connect your phone to your computer and restore the backup you made at step 1.
After restoring, if you want the recovered photos back on your phone, put them in a folder on your computer, then select the folder to sync to your phone on the Photos tab of your iTunes sync settings and sync your phone.

  • HT4859 Restoring Photos from icloud

I restored a new 4S from an old back up on the computer before I realised I should have restored from current backup in iCloud. how do I recover my photos?

The photos should have been synced to a computer all along for archive.  Many users have lost photos because they were unable to restore them from an iCloud backup.  However, in your case, you could do a reset of the new 4S (Settings>General, scroll to bottom of screen...) and then perform a new installation, be sure to choose the most recent backup from iCloud.  If they do not come back and you don't have them backed to a computer, then they're gone, unfortunately.

• My Ipad was stolen and I want to access my photos via Icloud...

My Ipad was stolen recently and I want to access my photos that I had on there. I assumed I could somehow retrieve them from icloud but this doesnt seem to be the case? Does anyone know how I can get back the photos I lost?

If you haven't been automatically importing them to iPhoto or Aperture on a Mac, as mentioned by Allen, you would have to recover them by restoring your iPad backup to a replacement iPad.  This will include your camera roll photos.  If the backup is an iCloud backup, Apple will delete it after 180 days of inactivity so be sure to do this befor then.

  • HT201317 Storing photos on icloud

I'm trying to move photos from my ipad, taken over the last 12 months, to icloud as I'm about to get a replacement ipad from apple but can't work out how to do it! Can't anyone help?
    Many thanks

You need to back up your iPad
Being able to back up to the cloud can be very useful, especially if you don't have access to a computer or have infrequent access to one, however unless you specifically need to use iCloud for back up, you will find backing up to iTunes significantly more convenient and possibly more reliable.

    Hello Bunk94,
It sounds like iMessage may be activated with the wrong phone number. Let’s see if we can resolve this. First, go ahead and sign out of iMessage and FaceTime:
If you can't send or receive messages on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support
    http://support.apple.com/en-us/HT204065
Sign out and back in to iMessage and FaceTime
Go to Settings > Messages > Send & Receive, tap your Apple ID, then tap Sign Out.
Go to Settings > FaceTime, tap your Apple ID, then tap Sign Out.
Afterwards, turn iMessage and FaceTime off and restart your device:
If you get an error when trying to activate iMessage or FaceTime - Apple Support
    http://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201422
Turn off iMessage and FaceTime and restart
Go to Settings > Messages and turn off iMessage.
Go to Settings > FaceTime and turn off FaceTime.
    Restart your device.
Turn iMessage and FaceTime back on.
    Thanks,
    Matt M.
