I've recently bought an icloud upgrade but now I dont need it. I know I can contact apple for a full refund within 15days of purchase but whats the best way to do this online?

    Photo stream doesn't use space in your personal account so purchasing additional storage wouldn't be necessary even if you could exceed 1000 photos.  But to answer your question, contact the Apple online store for your country to request a refund (1-800-MY-APPLE in the U.S. and Canada).

    However they do say - in a comment added only recently -
    'iCloud support is free during your Apple hardware product's complimentary support period or with an AppleCare Protection Plan. Depending on your hardware product's coverage, you may need to pay for support. iCloud support is currently available by phone.'
    The implication is that if you aren't in the AppleCare window you can't get any support - which seems unreasonable if there is a payment issue. You can only try the contact method and see if you can get help - get your hardware number from 'About this Mac' before you start.

    If you purchased iCloud storage less than 14 days ago, you can cancel it and ask for a refund. There's no email, so contact with the iCloud support team > http://www.apple.com/support/icloud/contact.
    If you got more storage more than 14 days ago, just downgrade iCloud storage. Open Settings > iCloud > Storage & Backup > Change Storage Plan, and choose the free storage or a smaller one.

    You can cancel an iCloud storage upgrade but only within 15 days of buying:
    Apple seem to have made this as difficult as possible. You may be able to do this using http://expresslane.apple.com - Click on 'More products and services', then 'iCloud', 'Account and setup' then 'This topic is not listed'. Explain the situation in the box provided and wait for a response - include a phone number. However you may find you cannot proceed without entering a hardware serial number which is still eligible for AppleCare.
    In that event you will need to phone them directly, using the Apple Online Store number given at the bottom of this page. The first person you speak to may tell you to do it from the iCloud website but this is not possible. Politely insist on escalating the issue to a more senior person and eventually you should be able to get through to someone who can deal with this (you may have to wait for them to call you back) - you will be asked security questions and for part of your credit card number to identify yourself.
    If it is more than 15 days since you purchased the storage you cannot cancel it for a refund; you can downgrade your plan as from your next renewal date. Please see

The email reciept states I have 15 days to cancel by contacting apple but I can't for the life of me figure out where to contact them as the only way you can comunicate about iCloud at the moment seems to be through express lane.

    In another document it states (though this one does not) that the downgrade applies when you reach the end of the current subscription period (meaning that you can't downgrade part way through for a refund, I assume). This would be in line with the practice on MobileMe in the past.

    I accidentally purchased a $20 icloud storage upgrade for my iphone.  Unable to find any way to cancel this order on my phone or online, I was left with no option but to call Apple.  The first 20 minutes of the conversation with Ayesha in retail has required my phone serial number, my apple id, my apple security questions, my Visa expiry date, my visa number.... with multiple request that I stay on hold.  I asked for an incident number for my call so I would have a record of the call in case the return did not go through.  No incident number was provided by Ayesha. I was then put on hold and transferred to Andrew who then transferred me to Monica. Monica in icloud dept asked me to give all the same information over again because she said there was no record of my security verification. Forty minutes in total for a $20 refund! It would be easier to drive to a store and return a shirt!  The inefficiency cost is enormous to both Apple and myself. Profit margin must be HUGE for Apple to offer such poor service and still stay in business.
