HT201320 add a new email on iPhone 5

If I select "other" to add a new email account on my iPhone, there is nowhere for me to input the correct server port. I keep getting an error that it timed out on the port it is using, but I can't change it!

I understand that you’re wife’s iCloud account is signed in on the phone you are using and you would like it to have your account. You can sign out of her iCloud account on the iPhone and sign in to your account. This will not cancel her iCloud account. To sign out of an iCloud account on an iPhone, please follow the instructions located in the attached article.
iCloud: Change iCloud feature settings
On your iOS device: Go to Settings > iCloud, then at the bottom of the screen, tap Sign Out (Delete Account in iOS 7 and earlier).

Cannot add a new email account, and hence i have no way of creating an iCloud account (very frustrating). I had the same problem with iOS 4.3 but i had no email account to create as i set both up when i bought the iPhone 4. After adding a company email and a gmail account (both wok perfectly) i noticed that the option to create more email accounts had been ghosted (unclickable). This didn't worry me at the time. However, iCloud needs me to create one in here so i can access the cloud which i desperately want the ability to do. When i go into Settings -> Mail, accounts, calendars, the option to add a new account cannot be clicked (ghosted). I also have iCloud in the iPhone Settings ghosted (unclickable). I have same problem in itunes on Mac OSX. Surely restoring isn't the solution as i restored my iphone when changing from iOS 4.3 -> 5. Please help?

Settings,
General,
Restrictions, type in your Restriction Password,
Accounts, tick Allow Changes.
Press the back key a few times till you're back in Settings, you should see iCloud is now highlight able, now go to Mail Contacts and Calenders and add your email account as per norm.

Can't add any new email account - Bug with Ios 6.1.3?

For unknown reason, I can't add any new email account, I get stuck with when I have entrered my email address and password. In fact, the system says " checking" but nothing is happening. Do you have any idea?
Somebody proposed me to reset Safari which I did with same result.
I have two Iphone and 1 Ipad and I have exactly the same problem on all of them.

I finally found the reason, it was linked with my email suffix which was a shorten version. When I put the long one, my email address has been recognized. The strange things is the fact, I have set up earlier the same account in pop instead of imap without any issue. I need to fight with the server name too as my standard incoming server was not recogized on imap (no reason as it works with other system). However, I found my way and it works.

Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears. Release the Buttons.

HT201287 How do i add an new email address to my inventory of send

I am trying to add my googel email address to the send & receive listing in message area of settings. After entering my google email and my password, I see the word "verifying".
What do I need to do to get settings to accept the new email address?

It sounds as if you are having an issue with setting up your Gmail account on your iPhone for the purposes of using Messages, is that right? I would suggest that you use the steps in this article to troubleshoot -
Gmail account cannot get or send email in iOS - Apple Support
Specifically -
Make sure your device is connected to the Internet by opening Safari and visiting www.apple.com.
If you have other email accounts on your device, try to send and receive email from those accounts. If your Gmail account is the only one with the issue, fill out an unlock form, which proves your identity.
Remove your Gmail account from your device and add it again: Tap Settings > Mail, Contacts and Calendars > Add Account > Google. Enter your account information.

HT4436 How can I transfer my odl family pack email to new iCloud id? Or add a new email account (not an alias) to my main icloud id?

I had a family pack but now I am not able to reach my son's email account. How can I find and transfer it? Or how can I open a new email account for my son through my icloud id. Actually it seems as if there is an oprating email account under his name but e-we cannot receive any emails or cannot reach the account settings...

Each sub-account of a MobileMe Family Pack should have been individually migrated to iCloud before August 1st last. Assuming that you didn't do this, you should be able to reactivate the address (though not retrieve its previous contents) by signing in with it in System Preferences>iCloud and enabling Mail - your son should do this on his own Mac or his own user account if he is using your Mac. It's not clear whether he will be able to reactivate the @me.com version or only get an @icloud.com version. (It would be useful to know, when he tries it.)
If he did migrate the account to iCloud then signing in in the same way should retrieve the contents and the @me.com address should work.
Alternatively he can just create a new Apple ID (for which he will need a new non-Apple email address) if he doesn't already have one, and sign in with that, enabling Mail and choosing a new @icloud.com address.
You should note that in none of these cases does his account have anything to do with yours (there is no need for a Family Pack equivalent in iCloud as it's free at basic level).
You could add an email alias to your account, but it's not a good idea as it will mix his emails up with yours and he won't be able to detach it later.

Can't add a new email account to E72

Hi,
I have a Nokia E72-2 and I have configured an office account (mail for exchange), gmail and hotmail email. i also had configured a yahoo account but as it didn't work, I went o the settings and removed it.
Since that day, I have not been able to add any new account to the program. Whenever I go to add a new account I open the New mailbox, select anthing on the next screen (yahoo/gmail), it promps to enter email id and password, which i do. then there is a message "detecting email settings" and then it goes back to the screen where I selected yahoo/gmail. No new account is ever added.
Any help will be good.

click add another and setup mailbox which u want to setup.
now sync the email client on mobile and u will find added mailbox.

Where do i add a new email alias?

I can no longer find where i set up a new alias email address for my iCloud account.
I have found "alternate" email addresses but this doesn't accept anything i try to add as an alias so I'm guessing its not that..
This USED to be easy..

It's the same as it always was. Go to http://www.icloud.com and go to the Mail page. Click the cogwheel icon at bottom left and choose 'Preferences'. IN the tab which opens click 'Accounts' in the toolbar.
You will see a column on the left showing your account with any aliases you have below it. You can only have up to 3 aliases. As long as you have fewer, you can click on the '+' sign below the list and add an alias.
If you have three (or more if you migrated from MobileMe with its five aliases) you will have to delete one or more to bring it down to two, and then wait a weej before you can add a new alias. Aliases can only be @icloud.com - @me.com addresses can no longer be created (though existing ones will continue to work).

Setting gmail to see only new email on iPhone 3gs

I only want to see new email when I access gmail on my iPhone, but I see every email that has ever been sent.
I need to keep what I have on my computer, but don't need anything but new to come thru on iPhone. Everytime I start to delete what I don't want on my phone more old email get pushed thru. Does anyone know what I need to do to fix this?

With an IMAP account you will see all emails, not just the newest ones. It will show the last 50 recent messages by default.
You can setup folders on Gmail and move your read messages to the folder leaving the inbox empty. Then when new messages come in only the new one show. Then read and move message to folder on the iPhone.

Mail won't let me add a new email account

I have 4 email accounts in Mail and for some reason it will not let me add another new account. I have tried file>add new account and also the + sign within preferences>accounts. Any ideas what may be the problem?

I'm having exactly the same problem, but this wasn't the case the last time I added an account a few months ago - might this be as a result of a recent update?
Any help on this would be gratefully received, thank you!

New email on iphone 6 IOS 8 is delayed and won't update until you lauch the email app

New email that is received on an iphone 6 (IOS 8) doesn't update # until you actually launch the email app. At that time the new email badge updates and VIP notifications are activated. How do I correct this so that it updates immediately as email is received.

If you are not getting updates in Mail until you launch the app, you may want to check in Settings to make sure that Push delivery is active, as noted on this page:

Add a new email address onto Mail?

I have a gmail address that I use for most of my email needs, but I just got a new college address so it would be nice if I could consolidate the two inboxes using Mail. Is there a way to do that?

Just create a new email account for you new address - Mail preferences - click on Accounts - click on the "+" button to add a new account.

I am attempting to add a new email to my iCloud account. No matter what I enter it gives error message that I cannot use that address without suggesting alternatives available. What do I do?

How can I add a new email file on my iPhone

When I want to save an email on my phone, I would like to create a file named "business" to store that email in for future reference. Is it possible to create a new file? The only files I have now are "inbox" "drafts" "sent" and "trash". thanks

OK, your reply started a thought: On my iPhone 4s: I have a Comcast email account (for years, on my business cards), and an iCloud account (relatively new). both are active on my iPhone, and MacBook Pro. When viewing a email on the iPhone, that came in to my Comcast email account, I am unable to save it in any of the MBP Comcast mailboxes. BUT if, while viewing the message (on the phone) I want to save, I click on the mailbox folder icon (bottom of the screen), THEN click on accounts tab at the top of the screen, it takes me to my Accounts. If I change to iCloud account, I can THEN move the email to a mailbox in the iCloud list; which seems to more accurately mirror what's on my MBP. a "work around" ?

If you are talking about app updates, these are permanently tied to the Apple ID used to purchase the app, regardless of the ID on your phone in Settings>Store. The only way to stop the prompt for your older ID would be to delete these apps from your phone. The ID in Settings>Store is the one being used for current purchases, not updates of apps purchased using a different ID.
