How do I change the name on my outgoing emails (ie the name that appears in other people's inboxes)?

Yahoo's servers are notoriously unreliable. Use the "Yahoo" account type when setting it up. If it doesn't work, and you are positive the credentials are correct, wait a while and try again.
While you're waiting, set up a free gmail or iCloud email account.

Goto the Email set up, it will show you the Current Email accounts you have set up, there will be an option to "Edit" You can change the Display Name (what other's see in the From line) and Account Name, what shows up when you mouse over your email icon on your Blackberry.

I haven't update the ios7.1.1, but recently I received my friend imessage, it show her email account name, not contact name at my contact, can someone can tell me why?

Thanks for the question. It sounds like your friend has configured her settings to start new conversations from her Apple ID email address, rather than her phone number. For more information, see the following:

You can change the address that new iMessage conversations are started with in Settings > Messages > Send & Receive > Start new conversations from. Note that this setting applies only to new conversations. If you would like to change the address from which messages are sent, first change this setting, and then delete the existing conversation and start a new one.

How can I change my email account name to my alias?

The Verizon email address all my friends, family, and business associates have used for more than 8 years (Jxx Sxxxx) turns out to be an alias. My primary account name seems to be JSxxxx. I recently changed to high speed enhanced and these things happened:
Outlook, where I receive my email, continues to receive all mail addressed to Jxx Sxxxx, just as it always has. If I compose a new email or hit the reply button, my outgoing emails SHOULD show up in the recipient's mailbox as Jxx Sxxxxx. Instead, they appear with the sender name Mxx Sxxxx (the name of my husband, the account owner). I need my own name back in order to get my emails read by business associates and others who don't know who Mxx Sxxxx is.
In addition, only email addressed to JSxxxx comes to my regular Verizon account (accessed at webmail.verizon.net). NO email addressed to Jxx Sxxxx comes to that account, which means that if I am away from my computer I cannot access my email at all.
How can I change my so-called account name to my alias without losing all the emails in my Outlook account? That is, how can I get rid of my primary account name, and substitute my alias?

How do I change an email "Account Name" on my iphone.

Hello everyone,
My question is how do I change an account name in my iPhone? I have just added another separate gmail account, which makes a total of 4 email accounts on my phone. On the first 3 accounts, the name of the account is the email address. The final account (gmail) I just added today, the name of it just says "gmail". How do I change this so it shows up in my iPhone as either the address the account is connected to, OR, give it a name I create?
When I set up the account it asked me for a name for it, and I gave it one, but it does not show up either under "inboxes" or "accounts" It just simply says "gmail" How can I change that?
Also, is there a way to give an account a name other than the email address for the other 3 existing accounts?

THANK YOU!!! If it was a snake it would have bit me. Seems kind of counter intuitive to have the description be the name of the account that shows up on the phone. You'd think that it would be called "account name". Anyway, Thank you very much!

New Email Account Name

My ISP changed their email system. I have the same email address, but they have changed the account name to the full email address instead of just the first part of the email address. Example [email protected] My old User Name used to be Johndoe, but has now changed to [email protected] For some reason when you set-up your email account on the Blackberry, it defaults the User Name to just the first part of the email address and I can't figure out how to change this on my Blackberry so that my user name is the full email address.
Can anyone help me??

Did I miss something or are the email address's exactly the same?
Did you complete delete the email account then recreate it?

Need to change outlook email account name using " \ "

A new requirment from my company is to add a \ to the mailbox name(user id) to access our system. This is not an option on the symbol pad in the email setup screen.

8703 deleting email account name from menu

I deleted an email account from BIS, but the account name is still showing up on my main menu screen. Does anyone know how to delete the name? Thanks.

Log back in to the BIS site and resend service books.
You will get an activation email on your active accounts,
as well as new service books.
No data will be lost when doing the following: pull the battery while the device is ON. Replace after a minute, Let the device reboot 1-3 min.
the old email Icon should be gone.

Email account name changes automatically?

Hi guys
I use the email software from Apple (the blue stamp icon) for all of my email accounts.
Today, one of my clients told me that one day he received an email from my work mailaddress but my name in the inbox mails list (which should be "Bob Mermans - BM Graphics" was changed to "Lia Linda", the name of one of my clients...
The only link I can imagine is that I often need to login on Lia Linda's YouToube account when managing her movies... But it is still strange that in that case it would rather be my personal email, which is gmail, instead of my business email.
Does anyone know how I can prevent this issue in the future? It is quite ridiculuous to send emails for my own company with another one's name...

It may be that you have more than one outgoing mail account, and you're sending from the wrong one. From the Mail menu bar, select
Mail ▹ Preferences
The Mail preference dialog opens. Select the Composing tab from the row of icons at the top. From the menu labeled
Send new messages from:
choose
Account of selected mailbox
If that doesn't solve the problem, select the Accounts tab in the preference dialog, then select the affected account in the list on the left.
In the Account Information pane, select the correct server in the menu labeled
Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP)
If there's only one server in the menu, select
Edit SMTP Server List...
and add a new server with the correct settings. If you're not sure how to do that, try the Mail Setup Assistant.
Another possibility is that the wrong card in your address book is selected as yours. Select your card in the Contacts application. Then select
Card ▹ Make This My Card
from the menu bar.

Email Account Name can't be changed (at least it won't save)

I've been trying to change the name of my personal email account on 3 different Tours now, and it won't save. It defaults to the email address. I can change it, and it says the account was updated, but it doesn't stick. It keeps showing the email address as the account name.
Is this a bug in the software? Must be, since 3 Tours have done it.

How to change my name that displays at beginning of an email? Do I need to change my email account name?

My wife and I use the same email. I need to change the name that displays at the beginning of an email to a joint name rather than just my name. We use AOL for our email. Do I need to change the name on the AOL email account to effect this change? or is there a way to effect this change in Firefox? Thanks for help.

When I send an email from my blackberry the recipient sees "Dear Account User" as the Sender instead of my name...how can I fix this?

Thank you. It is a personal phone, so yes I am using BIS. I have my email with sympatico (Canada) and its the same email address I use on my desktop. In settings (setup) it shows my email address and then user Name as my name..yet when I send an email it reads "Dear Account User" on the incoming mail "From" line. Very frustrating. I have reinstalled the OS.

Yahoo emails- "invalid email account name/ password" ????

The second time this issue has aroused. The email feature on my iPhone has rejected my Yahoo account user name and/or password. It continuously says i have an invalid name or password. I have tried to restart my phone, delete and reopen my account, and turn it off and back on. My ALO account works great, but only the yahoo is having problems. Has Apple lost a partnership with yahoo? My other emails are working (not yahoo accounts), but my yahoo account is my primary account that i use, and people contact me through. Please shed some light on this issue.

The iPhone's Mail client isn't rejecting your Yahoo account user name and/or password. The Yahoo incoming mail server is rejecting your Yahoo account user name and/or password.
This is a Yahoo problem only. Your AOL account works great, and your other accounts are also working except for your Yahoo account. This alone is an indication the problem lies with Yahoo.
Have you contacted Yahoo technical support?
