HT201320 Iphone mail account setting

How to set rediffmail account on iphone5?

Howdy there aks9893,
It sounds like you are wanting to add your email account to your iPhone. You may be able to find the mail settings you need with the following website:
Mail Settings Lookup - Apple Support
When you have the settings you need, you can use the following article to set up the account, named:
Add an email account on your iOS device
If you cannot find the settings with the first website, you should reach out to your email provider using the second link, which has the list of settings needed to get it going toward the bottom.
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
All the best,
Sterling

On your iPhone you need to change your password in 2 places:
    - Incoming Mail Server and
    - Outgoing Mail Server
To get to the password entry for the Outgoing Mail Server you have to tap on cell smtp.live.com and again on the second view.

Select a message, hold the move button, deselect the message while still holding the move button.
A new window appears allowing you to move all messages to the trash.
    Bingo!

You don't need 3 separate Apple IDs, but you do need to set up each device with a unique email address for Facetime to communicate between the devices.  You can go to Settings > Facetime and add another email address for each device.

  • Bug in OS 3.0: mail accounts set to "Manual" are pushed at bootup

I keep my iPhone's mail accounts on "Manual" access only, so that I'm not overwhelmed with email during the day. I also use MobileMe, and I have my contacts and calendars set to "Push." This combination is possible in:
Settings -> Mail, Contacts, Calendars -> Fetch New Data -> Advanced
In OS 2.2.1 and below, this combination worked as expected: contacts and calendar items are pushed via MobileMe, and mail is retrieved only when entering the Mail app. It also works as expected in OS 3.0, except ...
... when the phone is rebooted. At reboot, all mail accounts are pushed, as if the OS is overlooking my "Manual" setting. I've reported the problem to Apple via the iPhone feedback form, but I thought it prudent to mention it here as well, since it's repeatable and others may notice the problem as well and search for it.

Just wanted to keep this alive. Whenever we restart either my 3GS phone or my wife's 3G they make an immediate mail check and download any emails. Both phones are set to manual for mail checks and we use Me.com for all of our email. With the 3G phone, it was originally mine and before the 3.0 software upgrade it never did this. So I'm going to chalk it up to the 3.0 and believe that some future update will address this.

  • I have a problem getting my MAil account set up

    Hello
My account on mail does not work any longer. The message says that my account name or/and my password are incorrects, but they are both correct. what to do?
    thanks

Mac Mail: under Mail, Preferences > Accounts > highlight account name > Outgoing Mail Server > from drop down, Edit SMTP Server List > User Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) check box or not checked
iPhone Mail: Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars > Accounts > account name > Outgoing Mail Server > Primary Mail Server > Use SSL is it OFF or ON
iPhone Mail: Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars > Accounts > Advanced > Incoming Settings > Use SSL is it OFF or ON
Make sure both are set properly.  While in the outgoing, primary mail server on the iPhone, what is the Port set to?

  • Safari disappear upon mail account set up

I have problems with my iphone 4 as my safari disappeared suddenly. I restored my phone as i tried resetting my home screen and enabling restrictions. However when i set up my mail account, the safari disappeared again. Hence i realized that its due to the mail account setup. Previously i have not experienced this problem as my iphone has safari and mail accounts setup. Now my friends also have this problem (even with 3GS) hence i hope someone could help us to fix this. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated!

    Hi and welcome..
Try restoring your iPhone again but "restore as new"... just click Restore under the Summary tab in iTunes and follow the instrucitons.
Do not Restore from a backup. If the restore as new is successful, then add your mail account directly on the iPhone.

  • Set one mail account set to manual fetch, but now autofetches automatically

I have a iPhone 3GS and upgraded to OS 4 the other day. I have four email accounts on my phone. I have three set to autofetch every 15 minutes and the fourth account (which is email I use for spam and to sign up for stuff) is set to manually retrieve. I just don't want to be notified everytime I get some crap email. Wasn't a problem prior to the OS 4 update. It would check everytime i opened up the email app, but not otherwise.
I have the settings the same as before with other accounts set to fetch every 15 minutes and the account (a Yahoo acct) set to manual fetch only. I also make sure that the email app is closed (i.e. not running in the background as OS 4 allows.) Still, it seems to fetch like all the others and is incredibly annoying.
    Any fixes?

I am also having an issue with my iPhone 4 mail client.
Prior to upgrading to the 4 from my 3GS, the Mail app would only download new mail when prompted to manually (ie, on app launch or on manual check).
Currently, all settings indicate that mail is set to fetch only manually, yet is downloaded 100% of the time without prompting when launching any of the following apps:
    Yelp
    Phone
    iPod
It launches intermittently with any of the following apps (between 50% and 75% of the time):
    Facebook
    Photos
    Camera
    Tron
    Breakspin
    Wikipedia

The mail app also randomly downloads intermittently, without any prompting from myself as a user.
I have checked, rechecked, and triplechecked the settings. Push is off, fetch is set to manual in all applicable locations, and I have rebooted and reset the phone. I've even gone so far as to restore from a backup, to no avail.
My accounts are checking from MobileMe and from a personal (non-Yahoo, non-AT&T) e-mail account.
This is, needless to say, most frustrating.
Apple, any chance of a bit of feedback, here?

  • Mail Account set to Manual, Checks Automatically

I'm using the iPhone 3g (2.1 FW) with 2 mail accounts. One is a POP account which I have set to manual, the other is a Gmail account that I have set to check every 15 minutes.
The phone seems to be checking both automatically.
I have read in other threads that simply opening the Mail app is considered the trigger to a manual check. I can live with that. (Though it should not be that way.)
But I am occasionally receiving mail in the account that is on manual, even when the Mail app is not running.

I am also having an issue with my iPhone 4 mail client.

  • TS3276 Mail account set up. Can not receive mail-Everything is green in Connection doctor but when checking activity it shows stop signs.  Was able to receive mail until last week  then all of a sudden stopped receiving mail but no changes were made.

My mail account has been set up and working to send and receive mail for several months.  All of a sudden I can not receive mail.  The connection doctor shows all green lights.  No changes have been made and nothing has been changed on preferences on IMAP and SMTP.  I can send mail.  My other accounts all send and receive mail.  When you click on activity the list shows stop signs. All accounts show that they are online.

    UPDATE:
I deleted all the messages off the server of the offending email address and everything works fine now.

  • Mail/iPhone Mail Account question, please help

Hey everyone. I was wondering if the following is possible:
Is there a way to set up a mail account JUST for sending messages? A similar feature in gmail would be aliases, where I can choose what email account to send from.
In other words, I want to forward my gmail mailto my .mac account, but I still want to be able to send messages as my gmail account. Right now it looks like I can only do that if I add gmail account and check messages through it, but I don't want to check messages with it. Anyone help me out?

I dont have your answer but I had a question if you dont mind answering it. If someone sends you an email to either your .mac or gmail does it go to your phone instantly. Is there any lag time. Does it go to your mac account or gmail account and the phone at the same time?

  • Apple Mail, multiple mail accounts, setting a default.

    Hi,
I have a client using Apple Mail under Mac OS X 10.6 and it is configured with two different email accounts, one account being the users email address (I will refer to this as EMAIL1), the other account being her bosses email address (I will refer to this as EMAIL2).
Everything is working fine apart from an occasional bug where by the user selecst the Inbox of EMAIL1 and then composes a new email which should by default list the sender as EMAIL1 but shows as EMAIL2.
As I said previously this only occasionally happens and hopefully the resolution will be to ditch the file "com.apple.mail.plist" from ~/Library/Preferences, and rename the "Mail" folder to "Mail.old" within ~/Library and recreate, and lastly recreate the account from scratch. Any other suggestions here would be appreciated.
My question to this thread is how do you permanently set the default mail account. There's nothing obvious within Apple Mail's Preferences so I'm guessing that a plist file would need edited. Does anyone have any experience with this?

My question to this thread is how do you permanently set the default mail account.
Go to Mail -> Preferences, click the Composing icon and set the desired account in the "Send new messages from" pop-up. This does not prevent mail being sent from other accounts, it simply changes the default. By default, it sends from the account that owns the currently selected mailbox, which is why new messages sometimes come up with EMAIL2 as the sender.

  • Can't Get E-mail Account Set Up

I'm trying to set up an e-mail account on a new computer.  I have all the correct information, but every time I go to download mail, the system repeatedly asks for my user name and password.  I know I enter the correct information, but for some reason it doesn't take.  I'm using Vista Home Premium as an OS.  I also have 2 underscores in the user name.
Any idea what I might be doing wrong?
    Thank you.

I am assuming  you are referring to your @verizon.net address, since you didn't specify. There is a help page for setting up your client located here that includes a video link if you would find that more helpful.
For the sake of example, we are going to pretend that we are setting up  fictional account "[email protected]" and the password for logging into that  account in webmail is "fakepassword" - Again, this is a fictitious account for the sake of an example.
The settings for using Verizon's servers would be:
    Incoming Server: incoming.verizon.net
    Server Requires Authentication: Yes
    Username: fakeacct
    Password: fakepassword
Requires a secure connection (SSL): No
    Port: 110
    Outgoing Server: outgoing.verizon.net
Server Requires Authentication: Yes (You can set it to use the same settings as incoming, or manually enter the username and password.)
Requires a secure connection (SSL): No
Port: 25 (although 587 also works.)
These settings should work unless you have a Verizon/Yahoo account, in which case the server names are: incoming.yahoo.verizon.net  -and-  outgoing.yahoo.verizon.net
