Close the mail app. Then double tap on the home button to bring up the multi-tasking bar. Swipe upwards on the mail app. Reset the phone. Hold the sleep/wake and home buttons together until you see the Apple logo and then release. Once the phone reboots, try opening mail and see if this returns.

Hi,
I have had this problem for a while, and cannot find the solution anywhere. I hope someone knows.
"Mail" doesn't let me delete e-mails from the draft box! It looks like I delete them, and they disappear, but next time I check they are there again. The only way to get rid of "a draft e-mail" is to actually finish it and then "send" it. But, of course, many e-mails are better off in the trash bin.
It has been like this for some time now, so restarting Mail and/or the computer is apparently not the solution.
Please help out, my draft box has become huge!

I recently put on a PowerPoint presentation at DU, in Denver Colorado; signed on as DU guest to access Internet link. SInce then I haven't been able to get e-mail on my Iphone - Cannot Get Mail, Server Stopped Responding. I tried all previous suggestions, such as rebooting phone, updating software etc. I went to MacBook Pro and tried logging on to yahoo e-mail. Apparently there was a security risk to my e-mail account so Yahoo locked up my account. I reset my password, it was verified through text message, and Voila it worked. Don't forget you also have to change this on your Iphone: go into settings; Mail, Contacts, Calendars; click on your e-mail browser, then account and enter your new password, click done and it will verify on you phone as well. You do not have a virus. Sounds like you are just being bitten by Safari's desire to reopen all windows - and reconnect to all sites that were open in those windows - in Mac OS X 10.7. I believe that if you hold down option (or is it shift?) while opening Safari that it will not try to reload those pages.

You could try deleting it by logging into your account on a browser. Otherwise try turning the account off and on and see if you can then delete it : Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars , then tap the account on the right, slide Mail to 'off', exit settings and go back into the Mail app, and then go back to Settings and slide Mail back to 'on'
If that doesn't work then try closing the Mail app completely and try again when you re-open Mail : from the home screen (i.e. not with the Mail app 'open' on-screen) double-click the home button to bring up the taskbar, then press and hold any of the apps on the taskbar for a couple of seconds or so until they start shaking, then press the '-' in the top left of the Mail app to close it, and touch any part of the screen above the taskbar so as to stop the shaking and close the taskbar.
Also do a reset : press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.

Your upgrade must have failed. Unless you very very recently upgraded Lion, as in the last hour or two. Then you need to go to System Preferences and Energy Saver and stop it from automatically sleeping. Let it sit overnight. It could be spotlight re-indexing your disk and slowing you way way down.
If that doesn't work then you can re-install Lion cleanly. You need to finish backing up your data. Then make a Lion USB flash boot disk or DVD. Hold option key when you boot and select the USB or DVD drive. Run Disk Utility and delete then recreate the partition, exit Disk Utility and install Lion. Then restore your applications and data.

Mail cannot verify my mail server's root certificate

When I try to send an email, I get a warning message saying that mail cannot verify my mail servers root certificate. I have tested the certificate and it had a blue boarder not a gold one, I can't remember what this means but I think its not recognised. This has only just started happening.
Apparently the root server is VeriSign Class 3 Extended Validation
Mail was unable to verify the identity of this server, which has a certificate issued to "smtp.mac.com". The error was:
The root certificate for this server could not be verified.
You might be connecting to a computer that is pretending to be "smtp.mac.com", and putting your confidential information at risk. Would you like to continue anyway?

Cannot delete e-mail. I have three e-mail accounts, two of which I can delete e-mails. Whenever trying to delete e-mails in the thirs account, I get the following message "Unable to move message. This message could not be moved to the mailbox Trash".

Session lost (IE5 & IE6) when opening popup window.

Ok, I've been struggling with this problems for days and spent countless hours with google without finding any decent solutions.
I'm building a ecommerce site and if the user want to see additional information + pictures from a product, he/she can open a popup window that also has "add to cart"-submit field.
UserID and some other necessary data is kept in sessions but IE5 / IE6 seems to loose these in this new window when opening it via javascript (popup).
If I have understood right, the session is lost because IE considers the new window as a new task and therefore it is out of the "session scope".
Ok, one might say that using encodeUrl()-method should fix this problem, but no it doesn't. encodeURL()-method writes the session to URL only when user has disabled the cookies and in my situation it's not the case.
Has anyone here been struggling with the problem above ? I've been considering if I encode the UserID and other information manually to the URL and decode it back in the popup, but that brings n+1 security issues to my mind and doesn't really sound like a decent solution.

Only difference I can figure out if that the .js popup() function is located in header.jsp and the call to the popup is in other .jsp that includes the header.

Strange JPG bug. Lost image details when open it in PS. It looks sharper.

Strange problem found.
This problem recur in Windows/Mac environment and in the CS4, CS3, CS2 and even 5.5 :-) (maybe others) versions of PS.
When open some JPG images in Photoshop, some details lost and image looks sharper/grainy then it is.
I've tested jpg's created by 3d editing program, downloaded from web etc on different PC's and still same problem, only in PS.
Any ideas?
I think, it's not driver problem, because of problem iterations on different machines and in PS only.
CS4 11.0.1 installed, nvidia fx3700 latest drivers installed.

I didn't see any of that.
What I did see was that when opened and viewed in Paintshop pro X2 the picture was the same.
When opened and viewed in PS CS4 extended the red color was noticeabley washed out.
I must have something adjusted wrong in PS.

You are accessing your Gmail account via Safari or Mac Mail ?
If it's on Safari, with Safari open, press Command , (comma) to open Safari Preferences then select the Privacy tab.
Click: Remove All Website Data
Then quit and relaunch Safari. See if you can delete junk mail.

Rogue video email shuts down Apple Mail, cannot delete

I received a video email from a friend that shuts down Apple Mail within a few seconds of opening. The delete button is grayed out and I am unable to delete. I deleted it from web-based mail, but it still opens with Apple Mail--then shuts down the application. I have shut down the computer and logged off repeatedly, to no avail. (I am also afraid my mailboxes have been emptied--apart from the rogue email.) Have I lost Apple Mail on this computer forever? Can anyone help?

Mail cannot find outgoing mail server on imac

I have had a standard pop/smpt work email set up on my old laptop with windows XP for a while - all working fine. I recently bought an iMac and although on the same network iMail doesn't recognize the smpt outgoing server.. It doesn't even make it to choosing ports as it says the smpt server is not responding. If I continue I can receive mails, but not send...
I am quite illiterate when it comes to computers, so can someone please help me with this in simple terms?

At the risk of repeating what you already know, I'll try to describe how to declare an SMTP server. This advice assumes that you know what settings you need to use for your SMTP server.
In Mail, pull down the Mail menu and select "Preferences..." Click on "Accounts" at the top. In the left column click on the account that you're using. Be sure that the "Account Information" tab is active. At the bottom of the panel should be an item labeled "Outfoing Mail Server (SMTP):" You should see your SMTP server there. To check its settings, pull down the SMTP server list and select "Edit Server List..." In the resulting panel select your SMTP server. Click on the "Advanced" tab. Apply the settings needed for your SMTP server. Click on "OK", then close the "Preferences" window.

"Mail" cannot delete mails on my mac

This is about the application "Mail".
Besides the mailboxes, mail will also list "ON MY MAC" at side bar. Inside each mail account, there will be "All Mail", "Drafts", ... associated with this mail account. The question is that I cannot delete emails in "All Mail". I deleted some emails, then after about 10 minutes, you can see those emails are brought back to "All Mail". I have no idea what have causing those. All I want to do is to delete some ad, some spam emails in my GMAIL account, but those deleted emails (in ON MY MAC -> mail account -> "All Mail") are back agin, agin, and again. This is so annoying! Does anyone know how to deail with this?
