Try this first - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.)
Or this - Delete the account in Mail and then set it up again. Settings->Mail, Contacts, Calendars -> Accounts   Tap on the Account, then on the red button that says Remove Account.

I can receive emails, but I cannot send emails. This just started happening. I have an iPhone and I can send emails from my phone fine. It's just not working on my Macbook. Every time I try to send an email it goes straight to my outbox. Can anyone help?

Thank you for heading me in the right direction.  I reset my Mail account for Outgoing Mail Server to outbound.att.net:(customer ID)@att.net (instead of smtp.att.yahoo.com, per Apple's online troubleshooting information).   I'm not sure what "(Offline)" means when it appears at the end of my Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP)??  In the Advanced box I clicked on "Use custom port:  465" and checked "Use Secure Sockets Layer."  Authentication:  Password; I have correct User Name and Password put in.  After doing all this, when I try to send emails again today, they go directly to the Outbox and sit there.
What's curious is that my first sent email this morning did go out using the Outgoing Mail Server, smtp.att.yahoo.com: (customer ID)@att.net(Offline) but subsequent emails I tried to send with this server were rejected with the message:  "Cannot send message using the server smtp.att.yahoo.com (etc.).  The SMTP server doesn't support TLS(SSL) on port 587.  Verify your account settings and try again."  That's when I tried resetting my Outgoing Mail Server to outbound.att.net (etc.), as mentioned above, and was unsuccessful in sending out any further emails.  I guess my next step is to contact my email service provider, AT&T, and see if they can help me.  Thanks, again, for taking the time to respond and for giving me your input!  Much appreciated!

  • TS3276 I can receive emails but I cannot send them. I have recently renewed my password. What do I do to send emails please?

Help! I can receive emails but I cannot send them. I have recently changed my password. What am I doing wrong?

You need to open Mail>Preferences>Accounts>"Account Information" tab>and there input the required information for your Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP).  Your Internet Service Provider will have the required information to give you to input here.  Make sure that you also click at the end of the line "Outgoing Mail Server" on the arrows to get the dropdown list, and there click on "Edit SMTP Server List" and fill in the data in that resulting window also.

  • Help ! I am connected to my WIFI and receiving email but I cannot use any apps that require  internet  including Safari, What do I need to do?

I am having a problem with  Internet  on my ipad, I am connected to my WIFI and am receiving emails but any App that requires internet connection will not work, this includes Safari. Everything worked fine until yesterday.

I too, am having this problem. I have the new iPad. I have a full strength wifi signal (currently at home and with my personal hotspot) but apps that need the internet including google chrome and safari do not search. Safari says "safari could not open the page because the server stopped responding." other apps just spin like it is searching for a signal or something. Frustrating, because it was working, it seems to have taken this route after uploading some new apps, but can't pinpoint. Help! Please!

  • Mail will receive email but will not send. Recent change of broadband provider. Help!

I've recently changed my broadband provider. My email address is provided by my previous broadband provider (although it was obtained seperately -prior to - my broadband deal). Since I've changed my Mail still collects mail from the email address provider but is no longer sending from Mail.
Funnily enough if I send an email direct from this provider they send without any problems.
I've checked the preferences and nothing seems to have been altered.
    Confused.

Do I understand this as saying you changed "broadband providers", i.e., ISP's, and you are trying to send and receive email through your old ISP's mail servers?  I hope I misunderstood that because you of course need to use your new ISP's mail servers.

  • HT1430 I receive emails but when I try to send emails, I get a box that says that the "recipient was rejected by the server because it does not allow relaying"

I can receive emails over AOL but cannot send them. When I do, I get a box that says "recipient was rejected by the server because it does not allow relaying"

That's because you did not enter your screen name and password for the outgoing (SMTP) mail server on the phone. Or if you did they got erased. Go to Settings for the account and enter them.

  • Receiving mail, but unable to reply or send. Mail Accounts on settings page appear inactive.

New iphone 5 with IOS6.0.1 update. Mail pushed from TalkTalk & hotmail work account, but I'm unable to send replies at all - emails get stuck in outbox. Mail accounts on settings page appear inactive (pale) - I'm unable to tap & reset. Also iCloud, Facetime, Twitter & Facebook on settings page inactive, but apps work ok on homepage.. should I restore & try again? (Upgraded from iphone 3 to 5)

The error message that is received is: Cannont Send Mail; A copy has ben placed in your Outbox. The recipient [email protected] was rejected by the server.
Is this a problem in the way the accounts have been set up or with my local email server?

Check the parameters in your email account against what is recommended by your email provider.
Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars > account
Have you contacted the support contact at your email provider?

  • TS3899 My iPhone 4s will receive emails but refuses to send them saying my server does not recognise the account... Help!

I cannot send emails regardless of wifi connection but an read them no problem I don't understand the problem

Check your iPhone's Email settings in Settings/Mail, Contacts, Calenders then selec the account. Make sure the Outgoing Mail Server is properly set. It may or may not be the same as the Incoming server. Contact your email provider for the proper address. If the address is properly set try trunning "Use SSL" off as well as ensuring the proper username and passord is enter here as well.
