HT201320 Setting up email on an ipad
Hey everyone.
So my mom is in the hospital after an unexpected turn for the worst on vacation. She owns her own business and needed to somehow communicate with her secretary, so my stepdad and I went out and bought her an ipad. Problem is, she uses outlook express which I, from what i think i understand, is a downloaded Microsoft program? Can you get an app for it? I was trying to set up her email to the ipad, but I'm not exactly sure how to. Her email address is [email protected] People say to add a new account, but will it work with that email address? I'm not sure what an incoming and out going mail server is either. If anyone can help me out, I would really really appreciate it! :) thanks!

I've set up email on my iPad (talktalk.net) and can send and receive mails when connected to my home router and ISP. When connected to a router at another location with a different ISP I can receive mail but not send it. Is there any way round this?

HT1277 how do i uncheck 'password' authentication when setting up email accounts on ipad 2
how do I uncheck the password authtication when setting up email accounts on ipad 2
As best I know all ISP providers operating Mail Servers for their customers REQUIRE "password authentication" in order to access and download your email. Why wouldn't you want to set it?
Hope this helps -
HT201320 how to set up email account on ipad
server ports for ipad settings?
Depends on the email provider, most providers will set this up for you
settins/mail, contacts, calendars/add account
If provider is not listed, and you need to set up manually, you'll have to contact provider for correct settings
You can check this list for settings

How do I set up email filter on IPad?
We have been getting spam/scam emails. Filtered on desktop which works but wifi brings them to Ipad. How do we filter emails on IPad 2? Thx.
You can't set filters in the mail app in iOS. You have to set the filters on the server in order for them to work on the iPad. You might be able to set filters in your mail client on your computer, but there is no way to do that on the iPad mail app.

I just bought an Ipad 2 and have been trying to set up my yahoo email. I continually get the msg, Yahoo! Server Unavailable Please try again later. I am not real savvy with this stuff so I need an answer I can understand, please...
Thanks for any help,
jeannieOK this is what I had to do; Not sure why but apple does not support yahoo email on the new ipad 2 so I had to create a gmail account. Deleted my yahoo account on ipad and entered new gmail account on the ipad, and it worked. I can now get email on ipad. Also gamil will import all contacts and mail from yahoo.

I have set up email accounts on iPad but it still uses my gmail account to send emails
I have set up a couple of new email address on the iPad.everytime I send an email out it uses my gmail I'd as the sender
Under the mails settings, the gmail account is the default account. You can change that. If you go into another mailbox, say yahoo. It will use your yahoo account to reply or send. You have to be in that specified email box. As far as clicking a an email off a site or emailing when your not in a specific email box, it will use the default email. You can either change the default in settings or click your email address in the email and change to the one you'd like.

Setting up email accounts on ipad
I recently bought an ipad and am struggling to get my email account to work!
I set up to access my hotmail account through the ipad and now it keeps saying that i have not provided a password for imap! I have no idea what this means, but i currently can't send emails only receive them.
I have no idea what POP account means or what incoming /outgoing mail server hotmail uses or how to find out so would love it if anyone could help me in basic terms (i am no computer buff!).
I have a wifi connection on ipad 2 which seems to be be fine as i can connect to safari no problems.
Please help as i am not using my ipad to its full potential!!

Problem setting up email on new Ipad
I have a problem setting up my email account on my new Ipad. I've checked the settings and password which are entered correctly. The Ipad error message states "Cannot Get Mail" the user name or password for "....." is incorrect. Any ideas please ??
Problem solved. The ipad default is set to IMAP. When I changed it to a POP server, problem solved.

I'm having terrible problems setting up my business email (not an online email) on a new 9300 from Vodafone. I am entering the same settings that I use to set up email on my iPad and laptop, ie username, server, password etc. but I am being constantly told that the details are incorrect. I have set up a personal email ok. Any idea as to how this can be set up as I am close to returning the phone? The main reason I bought it was to receive email fast. I should also point out that I've been on to Vodafone approx 10 times and tech support 3 times and still no luck. They assure me the problem is not at their end.

Hi yes have got the blackberry add on and still doesn't work!
On your BlackBerry device, go to:
1. Options > Advanced > Host Routing Table > Menu > Register.
2. Resend your service books from your carrier BIS site:
From your handheld device: http://www.blackberry.com/btsc/KB15402
Go to the Personal Email Set Up icon and log in. Then under Help!, select Service Books, then select Send service Books.
From your desktop PC: http://www.blackberry.com/btsc/KB02830
North American Carriers - scroll down to select your carrier
WorldWide Carriers - Find your carrier on the list
3. With the BlackBerry device powered ON, remove the battery a few seconds and then reinsert the battery to reboot. This reboot, even if you have already done this, is often needed to install the service books.

Once I have downloaded email on my iPad the same is not downloaded on my laptop. Have tried all settings including choosing the setting DELETE FROM SERVER:NEVER and REMOVE FROM SERVER:NEVER
Hey rbrylawski, just wanted to let you know that my ipad email problems have been solved. Called Apple Sup in OZ, I'm in NZ. Daniel Barber was the support tech from heaven!! I was about to return the ipad but solving this issue reset my faith in phone support.....perhaps until I call a differnet companys phone support eh? Anyhow, for reference the fix is below. My accounts are all POP not IMAP, and the primary smtp server setting had defaulted to have SSL switched on and the port was set to 5XX (something, cant remember). Anyhow, SSL was switched off and the port was swithced to 25. VOILÀ!! Settings/Mail, contacts, calendars/My POP mail account/smtp/primary server/ >>> server on, no username and password, use SSL off, no authentication, Server Port 25 Thanks for having a crack at it. This might help when assisting another user. Cheers Tonino

I cannot send an email from my iPad 2? No problem receiving, why does this happen? Have tried the suggestions for setting up email and after doing the sync mail through iTunes receiving worked great but still cannot send? Any help would be great!
The fact that you can receive means you have a valid e mail address, and have established the connection to the incoming server, so all of that works. Since the send does not work, that means your outgoing server is rejecting whatever settings you used formthe outgoing set up. Try them again.
Google your particular isp, and ipad and many times you will find the exact settings needed for your isp. Or tell us here, and soneone else may be on the same isp. Some mail services need you to change a port, or have a unique name for the outgoing server.
Kep trying.
