HT201320 Setup a 2nd e mail account

Trying to setup AOL e mail and settings opens then closes also can't open contacts

Another couple of things that you could try before going down to Brighton is to close the Settings 'app' completely and see if you can add the account when you re-open it : from the home screen (i.e. not with the Settings app 'open' on-screen) double-click the home button to bring up the taskbar, then press and hold any of the apps on the taskbar for a couple of seconds or so until they start shaking, then press the '-' in the top left of the Settings app to close it, and touch any part of the screen above the taskbar so as to stop the shaking and close the taskbar.
The second thing to try is a reset : press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.

  • Cannot setup 2nd POP mail account

When I go through the settings adding another pop mail account, I do not have an ADVANCED button to add the specific info like I do on the first POP mail account. This is a necessary step otherwise when I save it times out unable to connect.
The manual says there should be an ADVANCED button which there is on the first mail account buut not on subsequent accounts????
    Why?????
When I added the second mail accoun to Outlook, it synced in just fine and an ADVANCED button was active. But I don't really want Outlook to pick up the mail for this particular website as I use Outlook Express for that purpose, but you cannot sync with bothe Outlook and OE. Of course deleting the mail account in Outlook removes it from theiPhone and I am back to square one.
    Any ideas?
    Sure miss my todo list

When I save the settings it bombs because it attempts to verify and the security (advanced) settings are not set yet.
    Ther error is:
    Secure Connection Failed.
The certificate "[email protected]" may be invalid
My login requires the full email address as the username plus I need to change the SMTP to port 26 and requires auth

  • HT201320 Setting up an e-mail account

My wife and I have an Apple '@me.com' e-mail account ... how do I set up one of these accounts for my daughter? I know I can set up an icloud address ... I just wanted to keep all our e-mail addresses consistent. Thanks for any help that anyone can provide

I found part of the problem - didn't realize I had to be connected to the computer. However, when I do that and enter all of the account information and save it, the account still cannot access my mail. Can't figure out what I'm doing wrong.

  • 2nd Yahoo Mail Account - How to access?

Problem:  I'm unable to set up my personal Yahoo Business mail account on my iPhone.
I have my work enterprise mail set up with the regular native iPhone mail client.  It is my desire to keep my work enterprise e-mail account completely separate from either my Yahoo or Gmail accounts.
I actually have two different Yahoo e-mail accounts, one personal and a separate Yahoo Business account.  I've got my regular Yahoo personal account going to the Yahoo Mail app for iPhone - no problem.  However, I'm unable to find a way to have my separate Yahoo Business account on the iPhone.  The Yahoo Mail app doesn't seem to allow the accessing of two separate accounts by the app.
Any suggestions as to how I can access the Yahoo Business account on the iPhone when I've already got a separate personal Yahoo mail account going to my Yahoo mail app for iPhone?    Thanks!

  • How do I set up 2nd e-mail account on iCloud

I had a MobileMe account and it was easy to set up a second account.  When my account migraged to Iclound, i can not figure out how to use my family ack and set up another e-mail address?  I hate it when Apple changes things, thinking it is easier and better.....  and it is not easy any longer....

Your secondary users from your mobile me account will need to set up their own iCloud account using their existing mobile me address, there are no family packs for iCloud.

There was no Tthunderbird 13.6.0 (there was 13.0 and 13.0.1 back in June 2012) as perhaps you meant Tb 31.6.0

  • Trying to setup e-mail account

I have been trying to setup my telus e-mail account and message keeps popping up:
Authentication method are not supported by server.
    Any idea how to setup?

Are you usig a different ISP than the other stup that worked? If so it's likely Port related.
I have fiddled around with different settings in the account like turning on SSL...
    They don't mention that, but...
    see J D McIninch's post here...

For Verizon, use the following settings:
    server name: outgoing.verizon.net
    ports: use default ports (25, 465, 587)
    authentication: password
    username: [email protected]
    password: yourVerizonPassword
For the record, Verizon does support connections from e-mail clients. They generally don't know Apple Mail, and they don't support secure sockets layer.

  • Cannot setup mail account in Outlook 2007

I cannot setup my @me.com mail account on outlook. I have tried the various settings, including imap.mail.me.com variations, changing the ports, etc. Once I have setup my account, I am continuously asked by Outlook for my username and password. When I try to click on the @me.com folder, outlook crashes. Strangely, iCloud seems to be able to sync my contacts without this mail account setup (!?), so I do have the iCloud folder.
Any help would be appreciated, as I am trying to sync my Vista laptop, iPad1, and IPhone3GS.

You know, I have an old e-mac running 10.4.11 and it runs mail just fine. Then I get to Leopard, enter the same info and it won't send or receive mail. I just tried to send an e-mail and here's the message i get: cannot send the message using gpcom.net
"gpcom.net" doesn't sound like the name of a mail server. Those often have names like "pop.gpcom.net" or "smtp.gpcom.net". What server names do the instructions of your mail service tell you to use? Are you trying to use a POP3 or IMAP service?
    no login required
That's uncommon, at least for reading of e-mail.

  • Backup Mail account settings before upgrade

I want to backup my account settings before I do a complete fresh install of the OS, to save having to setup all my e-mail accounts again.
I see you can Archive mail boxes, but to me this sounds like an archive of the actuall mail, and not the actuall POP settings.
How do I backup the settings (POP servers, usernames, custom ports etc)?
This is not mentioned in the Mail Help built in to the app at all.
    Neil

Why do you need to reinstall the entire OS from scratch; what's wrong with it?
It keeps crashing, freezing up, Windows appear half off the screen, and not draggable, some times un selectable, Context (Right click) Menu often appears on random parts of the screen, often get the Press and Hold Power button to restart message. Something major is up with it. Re install is the easist way to go.
The best way to backup things is to have a bootable backup on it's own separate hard drive; if you currently don't have that, it's time to get it so you can prevent a catastrophe in the future. Your hard drive in the Mac will die someday.
I have plenty of data backups. I have a 4 HDD Mac Pro workstaion. 500gb is boot drive, 1 TB for user home folders, 1Tb as Time machine drive, and 1 TB as original data drive. Data is nightly backed up to a 1,5TB FreeNAS box in the attic which is mirrored to a second drive inthe same box, plus a weekly SSH to a remote box at my fathers house.
I do have Carbon Copy Clones and Super Duper copies of the boot drive, but these problems have been going on since those backups have been created. I did not plan much of a backup strategy for the OS, as I had been lead to believe that the OS was so good/stable failures like I am experiencing do not occur. I should be able to do a Time machine restore of the OS boot drive anyway. So if my thinking is correct I could probably do away with the bootable backup. But I still have the CCC and SD copies just in case. I would also like to have a clean fully running install before upgrading to Snow Leopard next month.
If you just need to backup your Mail account preferences, copy the com.apple.mail.plist file from Home/Library/Preferences to a separate CD or hard drive, along with your mail. Then restore it to the same location when you're done reinstalling everything else, before you start Mail.
OK, great the plist file...should have guessed that really
    Thanks

  • Can't add Yahoo mail account

I'm trying to add my 2nd Yahoo mail account, but the iPhone will not allow it. I always get the message "The username or password for imap.apple.mail.yahoo.com is incorrect."
The username and password are both correct. The Yahoo mail account that I set up when I got my first iPhone back in 2007 is still working fine, but this new account can't be added. I can access the account just fine from the web.
I've seen this issue show up a lot in various forums, but I haven't found a solution yet. Does anyone have one?

For what it's worth. I have a pacbell.net account through at&t/yahoo. I have set up my email on my iphone 3G using the yahoo mail option. MY email is working and pushing just fine. I cannot, however, set up my daughters account on my phone, nor as the only email account on her iphone 3G. I get the message username and passoword incorrect. These are BOTH sub accounts and both have address as:
    [firstname]_[lastname]@pacbell.net
It is befuddling to me why one works and the other doesn't, they are set up identically through att/yahoo. I contacted yahoo and they told me its an iphone issue so I don't know where to go from here. I have not tried resetting network settings on the phone as I have a lot I do not want to loose plus I do not see any reports that this process actually works.
The only thing I can think of is the number of characters in the email address as my first name is only 3 letters and hers is 7.

  • Exchange E-mail account is syncing with inbox on computer.

I am a new iphone user. On my blackberry I was able to get my e-mail then decide if I wanted to delete it both on my handheld and inbox. On the iphone if I delete it on the phone then it deletes it from my inbox which means I have to leave a bunch of messages on my phone. How do I set it up where they don't sync?
    Thanks!

    Melanie2448 wrote:
Do I not have that option with the Iphone? When I setup my exchange e-mail account it doesn't give me the option to set it up as a POP.
As I understand it, it's not possible to set up an Exchange email account as POP. It's Exchange. Blackberry runs all email through it's own servers and things work rather differently. Part of the point of Exchange (and IMAP) is to keep things in sync across devices. So, it's working as it's supposed to. A work around would be to set up another folder so that you could move email out of your Inbox instead of deleting it. Then, you could delete it at your leisure from your computer.

  • Cannot setup exchange with apple mail

Here is the situation. I am trying to setup apple mail to the exchange system at work.  When I enter the password (which I know is correct), I get the following error message:
Logging in to the Exchange server “mail.bus.msu.edu” failed. Make sure the user name and password you entered are correct, then click Continue. If the information isn’t correct, you cannot receive messages.
Consequently, I cannot access the mail system.
I have been able to setup my other various mail accounts but this one persists in not working?  Any suggestions.

Is the autodiscover information properly set up?  Generally this should "just work" automatically if stuff is set up properly on the Exchange side.  You may need to check the setup instructions for your educational institution and contact them if the autodiscover records are incorrectly set up.

  • Two completely independent mail accounts?

I would like to setup two completely independent mail accounts. So far, when I setup two accounts, the mailboxes are visible to both accounts, and the inboxes are merged (as well as being independently viewable). I have tried requiring password entry every time for login. In my case, I would like two separate accounts, with full invisibility to each other. One is a work based VPN account, and the other is an AOL account.
Is there a way to do this? There used to be a shareware program called MailSwitch, that has been discontinued, that might have accomplished this.
    Thanks
    Mike

indeed i do not believe that is possible without a third party plug in, and i do not know of a third party plug in that would do just that in leopard mail.
how about creating a second user on your mac and have one email account in mail.app under one user and the second email account in mail.app under the second user. it is a work around and you would have to toggle back and forth between users, but it is better than not being able to achieve your goal if important to you.
    hope this helps
