We have a valid serial number and the original 9.0 media set. When I tried migrating the App Store updated it free of charge. However I don't know how to get Logic on without migrating as it point blank refuses when I insert the install disk.

Something is not quite right here:
I have the original Studio 2 disks here, and the installer runs fine under OSX.8.3. It will install Logic Pro 9.0.0, which can then be updated by downloading the 9.1.7 or 9.1.8 updater from Apple Downloads.
On your system, the installer refuses to run, or does the install proceed, but you are unable to update Logic so that it will work on Mountain Lion?

I had the same problem -- a recent update to my apple tv set my airplay settings (on the apple tv to off); ensure you have airplay re-enabled on the apple tv after updating.

The Airplay icon will not display if the OS is unable to locate any Airplay devices.
I would check that both devices are connected to the same network and maybe even power cycle the network devices - eg router etc
Maybe even try to connect both devices to another network like an iPhone personal Hotspot and see if that helps to isolate the problem

Make sure Apple TV is properly setup.
1. Setup Apple TV
(a) Connect cables and power cord
(b) Turn on TV and select Input
(c) Configure Apple TV e.g. Language, network
2. Setup Home Sharing on iPad
Settings>Music/Video>Home Sharing
3. Setup Home Sharing on Apple TV
Settings>Computer>Turn on Home Sharing. Enter Apple ID and Password
4. Pair Apple TV with Remote Control
General>Remotes>Pair Apple Remote

In Finder, select the item. Choose File > Get Info (or do ⌘I). Look under General > Kind. Does it read "Alias" or does it read "Application (Intel)"?
If the latter, then it is likely that you're not allowed to delete because it's actually open. Quit Safari. Check if there is an item called Safari in your </Applications> folder. (In Finder, you can get directly to the Applications folder using ⇧⌘A -- that's Shift-Command-A.) Check if it's an application. If it is, then you have an unneeded copy of Safari. Airplay not working from ipad after purchase of new mac. Called mac support but they said not their problem, call ipad support, tried but they want more money for telephone support. Does any one have any suggestions on how to resolve this issue? Thank you.
