HT201342 by reading this am i signed up for an icloud email address?

this is confusing - by reading this email and joining this apple support with a username , am i done with the icloud address process?

Accessing iCloud with your iPad requires a data connection to the internet, either using wifi or a cellular data plan.  If you cancel your home internet service, you will not be able to access iCloud until you connect to another wifi hotspot, or pay for a cellular data plan if you have a wifi + celluar model.

Open Mac Mail. From the menu bar click Mail / Preferences then select the Accounts tab then the Accounts Information tab.
Click + (plus) under the Accounts panel on the left. Type in your name, your Gmail address and password then click Create.
Now click the Mail icon in your Dock. You can access Gmail from there anytime.
Select Gmail under MAILBOXES under Get Mail left side of the Mac Mail window.

  • HT201342 I'm a bit confused. Is the new iCloud email address opt-in or opt-out?

    Hello all
I'm a little confused. Is the iCloud opt-in or opt-out?  There is nowhere in the message I recived to take any action now, but the wording implies that the email address is reserved for me, if I want it.  In other words, if I do nothing, do I get the iCloud email automatically at some point "in a few weeks".
    thx

ok thanks, so if I do nothing straight away, they won't free the address up and give it to someone else, correct?

  • The email address used to Sign into my icloud is no longer active, this is different than my apple id email address though. How can I change my icloud email address to my current apple id email address

When I received my iphone 4s 3 years ago the my apple id and icloud email addresses were the same, it was a student email from the college I attended. This account is no longer active, but when I changed my apple id email address to a current email (gmail account) the icloud address didn't change over. I now have no ability to sign into icloud on my phone and icloud hasn't been updated in nearly a year. I wanted to figure out this problem before I upgraded to the Iphone 6 this December. Is there any way this is possible?

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
You should still be able to use your college email address, just log in with your details.

I am unable to change or delete my iCloud ID, it is prompting sign in using an old email address that used to be my Apple ID, others have had this same problem but the answer seems to be to delete the iCloud account but I can't do that, because when I select delete account it prompts me to sign in on the old email address which doesn't exist anymore!! Welcome to the Apple community.
This feature has been introduced to make stolen phones useless to those that have stolen them.
However it can also arise when the user has changed their Apple ID details with Apple and not made the same changes to their iCloud account/Find My Phone on their device before upgrading to iOS 7.
The only solution is to change your Apple ID back to its previous state with Apple at My Apple ID, verify the changes, enter the password as requested on your device and then turn off "find my phone".
You should then change your Apple ID back to its current state, verify it once again, delete the iCloud account from your device and then log back in using your current Apple ID. Finally, turn "find my phone" back on once again.

I have NEVER used my icloud email address and am now getting spam mail to services I have NEVER signed up to.  Should I conclude from this that Apple have sold my details on?
To tell me to mark it as spam is just not good enough.  I do not want this rubbish cluttering my inbox.

Nobody want to receive spam, but it's a fact of life. Apple is certainly not selling your address on to spammers, and it's possible that the spammer has been guessing at possible addresses and has hit on yours.
A good third-party program for dealing with spam is SpamSieve - after a training period it's very good at identifying spam and shunting it to a Spam folder where you can check it and delete at your leisure. It works with iCloud.

  • HT201342 I would like to transfer an icloud email address from one apple id to a different apple id.  Is this possible?

How can I transfer an icloud email address from one apple id to another apple id?

It isn't possible.  If you need to use a different iCloud account with a different ID as your primary iCloud account, you can still set up your other iCloud address as a secondary account by going to Settings>Mail,Contacts,Calendars>Add Account>iCloud, signing in with your ID and turning Mail to on.  It will be fetch rather than push email, however, as push is only supported in the primary account.

  • HT201342 My icloud email address is misspelled.  How can I correct this?

My icloud email address is misspelled.  How can I correct this?

You can't change an iCloud (@mac, @me or @icloud) email address without creating a new account.  You can, however, create an email alias with the correct spelling and use that.  It will be linked to your current iCloud account and receive email at the same inbox.  This guide explains how to create an alias: http://support.apple.com/kb/PH2622.

  • HT201342 I'd like to change my iCloud email address or create a new one, how do I do this?

I'd like to change my iCloud email address or create a new one, how do I do this? I'm starting a new business and I've not really used my iCloud email address, I'd like to change the name to the business name. Can I do this? If so, how?

You can't change an iCloud email address.  You can create an alias address to use that will receive email in your current iCloud inbox, but it will still be an @icloud.com address.  If you want to do this, this article explains how to create an alias: http://support.apple.com/kb/PH2622.  Note: once you create an alias address, you can't use it to create a new iCloud account, move it to another account, of reactivate it should you ever delete it.
You should also be aware that iCloud is designed for personal rather than business use, and as such, there are limits place on iCloud email accounts as outlined here: http://support.apple.com/kb/ht4863.

I have just opened a new icloud email address and am unable to open ANY of the messages in my INBOX. For each item I get the message "Cannot open this item. This operation is NOT supported until the entire message is downloaded. Download the message and try again". I now have no clue what I need to do to open these items. Help please.

What version of iPhoto do you have installed?  Is if one of the versions shown as not compatible in this screenshot?
If it is then go to the App Store and download iPhoto 9.5.  It will be free if you have an iPhoto 9 or later verson currently.

  • I created an Apple ID for my daughter with her own gmail address, but I want her Apple ID and primary email address to be an iCloud email address. How can I do this? I can't set up an icould email address for her without first creating an Apple ID?

I have created an Apple ID for my daughter with her own gmail address as the primary email address, but I want her Apple ID and primary email address to be an iCloud email address. How can I do this? I can't set up an icould email address for her without first creating an Apple ID right?
I'm not good with computers so please explain in simple way...:)
I also wonder what the best way is to set up accounts for children in a family. I dont want them to be able to purchase apps etc through the parents accounts, also some things we like to share as a family and others we don't want to share. Is there any good. clear, simple explanation from Apple Support about these issues? Or best to go to Apple store and go to genius bar or one to one advise?
    thanks

You can set up an iCloud account which makes the iCloud email address you choose the Apple ID and thus the login for it:
    https://discussions.apple.com/message/22283348#22283348
though I have to say I think it's more sensible if the ID is another address, both for security reasons (so people don't know what the login is) and as a contact address from Apple if the account were to stop working and they needed to contact you. So personally I would to to System Preferences, enter the GMail address which is an ID, and then choose a nerw @icloud.com address.
If she has her own iCloud account she will need either her own computer or her own user account on your Mac to be able to make use of it. You should note that under Apple's terms of use Apple IDs are only available to children of 13 and over.
As to purchasing apps, this is nothing to do with iCloud: it's iTunes, and the login can be different. So you can all sign into the same iTunes account but have different iCloud accounts. Or she can have her own iTunes account if she is of suitable age (credit card needed for purchasing apps).
If you have other children you should be aware that any one Mac or device can create only three iCloud accounts - this is tied to the serial number, not the user account, and once reached cannot be bypassed. You can of course sign into an iCloud account created on another device.

  • I just got my iCloud email address and wish to change it. Is this possible?

No, except by signing up for a new account.

  • Forgot to sign out of old id and changed icloud email address and cant sign out of find my phone

I have a iphone 4s and changed icloud email address and forgot to sign out of find my phone. How can I turn it off to change to the new email address that I changed in icloud?

To change the iCloud ID you have to go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account, provide the password for the old ID when prompted to turn off Find My iDevice, then sign back in with the ID you wish to use.  When you do this you may find that the password for your old ID isn't accepted.  If this should happen, and if your old ID is an earlier version of your current ID, you need to temporarily recreate your old ID by going to https://appleid.apple.com, click Manage my Apple ID and sign in with your current iCloud ID.  Click edit next to the primary email account, change it back to your old email address and save the change.  Then edit the name of the account to change it back to your old email address.  You can now use your current password to turn off Find My iDevice on your device, even though it prompts you for the password for your old account ID. Then save any photo stream photos that you wish to keep to your camera roll.  When finished go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account and choose Delete from My iDevice when prompted (your iCloud data will still be in iCloud).  Next, go back to https://appleid.apple.com and change your primary email address and iCloud ID name back to the way it was.  Now you can go to Settings>iCloud and sign in with your current iCloud ID and password.

  • HT4759 I'm getting a lot of spam in my icloud account and would like to change my icloud email address, how can I do this?

After having a mac.com email for nearly 10 years I fell for a scam email and now am getting spammed daily in my email account.  I use this email account for everything and would like to either block the spam emails - although that's hard since they change their email address daily - or just get a new icloud email address.  I've researched this and have not found this easy.  Any suggestions on how to change my icloud email account? Keep in mind all my devices are connected through this email including iTunes.  Any help is appreciated - thanks!

To get a new iCloud address you would have to create a new iCloud account and migrate your iCloud data to the new account.  If you want to do this, go to Settings>iCloud and tap Delete Account, and when prompted about what to do with the iCloud data choose Keep on [My iDevice].  Then set up a new iCloud account with a new ID, turn you iCloud data syncing back to On, and when prompted choose Merge to upload your data to the new account.  When you turn Mail to On you will get a new @icloud email address (@mac and @me addresses are no longer available).  Once your data is in the new account, you can just delete the old account from your other devices without saving the data on the device, then sign into the new one and the migrated data in the new account will be synced back to them.
If you need to, you can change your iTunes ID to this new email address.  This guide explains how to change an Apple ID name, but you can follow this and edit the primary email address instead to change it: http://support.apple.com/kb/HE40.
