Apple have emailed me to say I can now use @icloud.com email address instead of my @me.com email address. It has also appeared on my mac and iphone as an optional email address which I can set as default if I wanted to. My @me.com email address is currently my apple ID as well for icloud etc and I wondered if I swap to @icloud.com email address do I have to use this for my icloud and apple ID as well and if so will it have all the same information etc in there i.e the contacts, diary and email etc? Plus will my purchases all be there as if I was still using my @me.com email address?

You can use either your @me.com or @icloud.com address. They are interchangeable. Anywhere you can log in with your @me.com address you can now login with your @icloud.com address.
You are not swapping from @me.com to @icloud.com. It is still the same account, with all the same info and purchases. It is simply an additional email address you can use in addition to your existing @me.com address, if you want to.

Yes, but you will not be able to erase it without the password if Find My iPhone is turned on. If you need to reset your iCloud password, read here: http://support.apple.com/kb/PH2617. Of course, you can't reset the password unless it is your iCloud ID.

Purchased music does not count against your iCloud storage and you cannot get rid of them in the purchased tab.

Can things in the icloud be shared between apple id accounts?

I would like to add my iphone and my wifes iphone to icloud. If we each have our own apple id, will we be able to share our photos
between accounts, or would it be better to have one apple id and place both of our devices under the one account? If we do this, is it possible to keep things like contacts separate, or will they be merged on both devices.
Basically, how can I utilize the icloud to share some stuff and also keep other stuff separate or individualized.

I might be very ignorant on this but I think you can not share some things only within the same apple ID account in multiple devices.
In address book you can try to create groups, one for each user - but you both are still sharing all contacts anyway...
I also don't think you can share info from the iCloud from two different apple ID's.

Before I updated to OS X Mavericks I was using another external disk that was getting disconnected ocasionally so I bought a new ADATA HD710 portable 1TB Drive and moved the files to it. This new drive which is supposed to be OS X Mavericks compatible takes minutes to show the files especially when opening second and third level folders which has made mu iMac unusable
What should I do?

Your Mac should be able to recognize many different types of drives (including Windows-formatted drives) immediately for Reading, provided they are in good working condition and not damaged. There should be no need to transfer to a different type of drive.
If there is no recognition of this drive, see if it can be seen in Disk Utility.
If your aim is to transfer the data on it DO NOT use ERASE or PARTITION as these will completely erase all the information on the Drive.
If the drive is present while the Mac sleeps, it is likely to drop out and not be seen any longer, especially if it is a USB-powered drive.

Background / other symptoms:
The Flash drive in question has been formatted HFS.
I get no error messages, including on the Console, and no sound indicators.
I can copy files, using the Finder, from a hard-drive to the usb flash drive with no problem.
Finder copying on this stick works just fine on my other Mac.
I can move files within another (FAT32-formatted) USB flash drive.
The quirky USB HFS Flash drive works fine on my other Mac.
Outside of the Finder, I can use mv just fine to move the files on the HFS flash drive.
If the HFS-formatted Flash drive were faulty, I would at least expect some sort of error in the Console app, but perhaps not from the Finder.

I've just successfully installed the iCloud Control Panel on my PC (runs with Vista). Why does the iCloud Control Panel say "Install Outlook to use Mail, Contacts, and Calendars?" The Bookmarks (with Safari) and Photo Stream options are active, but the Mail (with Outlook), Contacts (with Outlook),and Calendars and Tasks (with Outlook) are not. I'm using Office Outlook 2007. I used to be able to synch my iPhone with my PC's Outlook through iTunes without any problems. Any help would be appreciated.

At first I thought yes, but now I am realizing that with the Professional Edition, don't you get set up in the Newstand Store... which does or does not need an app??? And then what about the Kindle Fire and Android platforms... Do I have to manage all of those relationships myself or is that part of the professional package...

Wow, just posting and it seems that there is a solution that is working for me...
What I've did is I turned off iTunes Match on my iPhone, then turned in on again. Now in my iTunes library on my mac I can get the duplicates to be matched or uploaded to iCloud with a right-click, add to iCloud. iTunes Match starts to check the songs and everything is done correctly. Pretty nice!

Why does the icloud syncing not work with iWork?

I'm getting quite fed up with trying to get this to work. Tried altering all the toggles in the icloud preference on my idevices, nothing makes a difference. I've also deleted files in the hidden library folder on my macs. Didn't make a difference.
How do i fix this? I have searched all the forums on the web now and nothing makes it work. Does anyone here have a magic solution?

No, i know the desktop version isn't fully compatible yet. I thought it was obvious it was for the iOS I was using. Sorry about the misunderstanding, should've explained myself better.
It doesn't work to upload documents from my desktop to iCloud.com either.. It's a real bummer. I'm rather disappointed with apple over this. With Steve's presentation in June I was really enthusiastic about it and now this. Why can't one just be able to sync properly with Dropbox within pages, without the doubling of files that WebDAV gives you.
