Can I update my Mac to support airplay mirroring?

P.S. Forgot to mention you might try a 3rd party application called AirParrot. I have never tried it but it was developed to let you mirror from Mac's that don't meet the hardware requirements.
Good Luck

Thank you for advise, will try apple store  another thing how can I increase my ramm and memory
Check your machine's actual specifications here.
It looks like you can support up to 3 MByte in a 17" iMac and up to 4 Mbyte in a 20" iMac, if your cache size coordinates with the specs on the linked page.
OWC says you should be able to put 4 Gbyte into your machine here.  Wherever you get the memory, it would be a good addition.  This is the Apple Store listing for your machine, as near as I can figure it.

  • Can't update to Mac OS 10.4.4 and others

    what up,
It seem I can't update to Mac OS 10.4.4. Whenever I'm installing 10.4.4 I keep getting the message "There were errors installing the software" and "Please try installing again". I'm not sure what's going on but now I can't update to Quicktime, iTunes, iPod Updater, and others.
Can anyone help with this problem. I would really appreciate it.

PROCEDURE FOR MAJOR INSTALLS such as 10.4.4 and QT 7.0.4
    1. Backup all your important data. This includes a lot of stuff in [your home directory] / Library / Application Support and [your home directory] / Library / Preferences, plus whatever else you can.
    2. Repair disk permissions or a lot more with the procedure here:
se the free program YASU to do some internal maintenance tasks.
    Download YASU. http://www.macupdate.com/info.php/id/13416
Open and run. Enter your password.
    Check to "ON" :
    .... daily
    .... weekly
    ... monthly
    ... repair permissions
.... clear (3-4 kinds of caches)
    Run.
    Yasu automatically reboots.
Repeat this process twice a month.
3a. Download the COMBO update for 10.4.4 http://www.apple.com/support/downloads/macosxupdate1044combo.html
    3b. Download QT 7.04
    4. Unplug all printers, iPods, scanners, firewire drives, USB 2.0 drives. Everything except the keyboard and mouse.

    6. Repair disk permissions one more time.

  • Can I update a  Mac 10.5.8 to 10.6 or later

can I update a  Mac 10.5.8 to 10.6 or later????

Choose About this Mac from the Apple menu and check the processor.
If it's a PowerPC Mac, no.
If it's a Core Duo Mac, click here, install the DVD, and run Software Update.
If it's a Core 2 Duo or better Mac, upgrade it as if it was a Core Duo Mac, and once done, if desired, open the Mac App Store and try downloading Yosemite. If you get told it's incompatible, go to the online Apple Store and order a download code for Lion 10.7.
Mac OS X 10.7 and newer don't support PowerPC software such as Microsoft Office 2004. If you upgrade the OS, back up the computer first.

check that your current Mac meets the System Requirements for Snow Leopard...
    Snow Leopard Specs:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/SP575
If it does... then you need to Purchase the Snow Leopard Disc and Install it.
Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard
Would Also Recommend that you do a Bootable Clone Backup of your current Hard Drive Before attempting any Major Upgrade...
By far the easiest way to make a Backup, is to use something like
    SuperDuper  http://www.shirt-pocket.com/
    or CCC  http://www.bombich.com/

  • HT1752 can I update my Mac osx 10.5.8

Can I update my Mac os x 10.5.8 Leopard to a Mountain Lion

    Not directly, no.
Before you buy anything, you must first make sure your Mac is compatible.
For the minimum specs for Snow Leopard read the technical specifications …  Mac OS X v10.6 Snow Leopard
For the minimum specs for Mountain Lionread the technical specifications. ... Apple - OS X Mountain Lion
All being well, buy your disc.
Once you have bought your copy you will need to update via software update or the Combo updater for Snow Leopard … Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update Combo v1.1     Remember to repair permissions both before and after each upgrade/update.
Once Snow Leopard is installed and updated to 10.6.8 you can then progress to Mountain Lion.
You can no longer buy Snow Leopard from the Apple retail stores.   If you are in North America ... the last I read, you must call the on-line Apple store at (1-800-MY-APPLE).   It is $29 plus tax for family pack and $19 plus tax for a single.    Otherwise you can call your National Apple Helpline and ask for Sales.    http://support.apple.com/kb/HE57

HOW CAN I UPDATE MY MAC OS X 10.6.8 TO GET ICLOUD?

Open the Mac App Store and try purchasing Mountain Lion. If you get told it's incompatible, choose About this Mac from the Apple menu, and if the computer has a Core 2 Duo(not Core Duo) CPU and at least 2GB of RAM, phone the online Apple Store and order a download code for Lion.

  • HT201260 I can't update my mac

I can't update my mac to 10.7. I have the one from 2008 or 2009. Its a MacBook and when I go to about mac, it sais "Mac OS X" "10.6.8" then when I check for software update, it sais there is none, so I can't update to 1.7, which I need for a lot of Apps.

you have to BUY 10.7 or the new 10.8 from the app store just launch the app store and search for moutain lion then buy it it will then download and then launch the app it will then guide you though the steps to install moutiain lion just check that you mac is compatible

  • HT1338 I need to upate my Imac 10.5.8. If i buy the new mountain lion can I update my mac?

I need to update my 2009 Imac which has the operating system Mac Os x 10.5.8. If I buy the mountain Lion update can I update my mac? Also will I loose any of my programs or files? Or is there an update where I can use new Adobe programs?

    1. It isn't possible to buy Mountain Lion from Mac OS X 10.5.8 or to use it to directly upgrade a 10.5.8 system. Upgrading to Mac OS X 10.6, which is available in the online Apple Store, must be done first.
    2. Noting #1, no; back up the content anyway. If you choose to erase the partition before installing Mac OS X 10.8 on it, yes.
    3. It depends on what the requirements for them are.
