  • HT201343 MacBook Pro & Apple TV

have an apple TV. My MacBook Pro sees the apple TV in iTunes, but no where else. how can i see my desktop on my apple TV?

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities
AirPlay Mirroring requires an Early 2011 or newer MacBook Pro, and OS X Mountain Lion. OS X Mountain Lion is 10.8, so open  > About this Mac, and check if your OS X version is 10.8.
If your Mac isn't compatible, you have to use a third-party app to mirror your MacBook Pro onto the Apple TV, as AirParrot > http://www.airparrot.com

  • HT201343 The Apple TV icon shows up on my  macbook pro, but when I click it, it won't connect.

I just bought Apple TV today.  The Apple TV icon shows up on my Macbook, but when I click 'Apple TV,' it turns blue for a few seconds, and then a 'Could not connect to Apple TV' pop-up comes up a few seconds later.  I've tried restarting my apple tv, computer, router, TV, and have made sure all software is up to date.  'Apple TV' is turned on in the settings and my firewall is off.  Everything else seems to work on the Apple TV.  I updated my macbook to Mavericks last night.  Why won't it work?

  • MacBook-Apple TV Streaming Problems

    Hi All
I seem to have problems streaming from my MacBook Pro to Apple TV. When streaming Youtube videos from MacBook to Apple TV, the video and sound start breaking out (constant short half-second pauses).
However, I have no such problems with streaming videos to Apple TV from iPad or iPhone. When viewing Youtube videos from my MacBook (without streaming) or through Apple TV by directly accessing Youtube from Apple TV, there are no such problems either. Likewise, there are no problems streaming my iTunes videos from my MacBook to Apple TV.  The software on MacBook and Apple TV is up to date.
Would be very grateful for your advice on how to fix this problem.
    Andriy

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
Intermittent problems are often a result of interference. Interference can be caused by other networks in the neighbourhood or from household electrical items.
You can download and install iStumbler (NetStumbler for windows users) to help you see which channels are used by neighbouring networks so that you can avoid them, but iStumbler will not see household items.
Refer to your router manual for instructions on changing your wifi channel or adjusting your multicast rate.
There are other types of problems that can affect networks, but this is by far the most common, hence worth mentioning first. Networks that have inherent issues can be seen to work differently with different versions of the same software. You might also try moving the Apple TV away from other electrical equipment.
The following article(s) may help you.

  • Late 2008 macbook apple logo flickers Lion.

I have a late 2008 macbook and every time I close the lid the screen periodically flickers. while it is supposed to be in sleep mode. I would like help for this as soon as I can get it please

I find Mountain Lion far more stable than Lion. As for other features you will have to make that decision.
    Upgrading to Mountain Lion
To upgrade to Mountain Lion you must have Snow Leopard 10.6.8 or Lion installed. Purchase and download Mountain Lion from the App Store. Sign in using your Apple ID. Mountain Lion is $19.99 plus tax. The file is quite large, over 4 GBs, so allow some time to download. It would be preferable to use Ethernet because it is nearly four times faster than wireless.
OS X Mountain Lion - System Requirements
Macs that can be upgraded to OS X Mountain Lion
             1. iMac (Mid 2007 or newer) - Model Identifier 7,1 or later
             2. MacBook (Late 2008 Aluminum, or Early 2009 or newer) - Model Identifier 5,1 or later
             3. MacBook Pro (Mid/Late 2007 or newer) - Model Identifier 3,1 or later
             4. MacBook Air (Late 2008 or newer) - Model Identifier 2,1 or later
             5. Mac mini (Early 2009 or newer) - Model Identifier 3,1 or later
             6. Mac Pro (Early 2008 or newer) - Model Identifier 3,1 or later
             7. Xserve (Early 2009) - Model Identifier 3,1 or later
To find the model identifier open System Profiler in the Utilities folder. It's displayed in the panel on the right.
         Are my applications compatible?
See App Compatibility Table - RoaringApps.
For a complete How-To introduction from Apple see Upgrade to OS X Mountain Lion.

I have a Macbook (white) mid 2010 running Mavericks OS. Does my device support Airplay? I've just purchased an Apple TV and I cannot find the airplay mirroring option in mi Macbook.

  • HT201343 MacBook Pro Airplay

    Hi,
I have a MacBook Pro (Early 2011) and a 3rd generation Apple TV. Both are updated and runing in the same network. Hoever, I can manage to enable airplay. I don’t find the mirroring menu and in the display settings I’m not allowed to change to the apple TV. On itunes I see the airplay iconbut nothing happen.
    Thanks

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
AirPlay Mirroring requires a second-generation Apple TV or later, OS X 10.8 or better and is supported on the following Mac models: iMac (Mid 2011 or newer), Mac mini (Mid 2011 or newer), MacBook Air (Mid 2011 or newer), and MacBook Pro (Early 2011 or newer). You can see which Mac you have and which operating system you are using by selecting 'About this Mac' from the Apple menu in the top left corner of your Mac and selecting the 'More Info' button.

  • Macbook + Apple TV?

  • Living in Puerto Rico+Buying a MacBook+Apple Store=0 MacBook

I'd like to buy a MacBook from the Apple Store, but I'm afraid don't know how, since I don't see Puerto Rico listed anywhere. Don't you guys ship to Puerto Rico? If not, WHY? What other way is there for me to get the MacBook I want? --> The White MacBook (1.83GHz) with 1GB of RAM and the AppleCare Protection Plan.
    Please, Help... Seriously.

Why don't you look at the Apple web site to try and find any apple resellers in Puerto Rico.

  • MacBook + Apple external  modem

I was given a brand-new MacBook at work and a brand-new Apple USB modem to take home, where I only have dial-up.
When I open Internet Connect, it comes up under the BlueTooth tab. I put in all the info and it won't even dial. I wish I had written down the error message (can't check it now) but basically it says it "can't open Internet Connect". Does this mean it's not recognizing the modem?
I tried to "edit configurations" and noticed there are 4 versions of Apple external modems there, and I tried all 4 with no luck.
    Any ideas?
    MacBook   Mac OS X (10.4.8)

Connect the modem to the USB port. Open Network preferences and select External Modem then click on Configure button. Click on the TCP/IP tab and set the Configure IPv4 drop down menu to DHCP and click on Apply Now button. Then click on the PPP tab and fill in your ISP information, user ID, password and telephone number (these are for your dial up account.) Click on Apply Now button. Click on the Modem tab. Select the Apple External Modem V.92 from the drop down menu. Check the box labeled "Show Modem Status in Menu Bar." Click on the Apply Now button. You should be all set. Quit System Preferences. From the modem status menu bar item select Connect.

  • Just Got My FIRST MACBOOK / Apple Computer!

I am 57 years old, been playing with, using computers since 1997, ALWAYS a Windows based unit, usually a Dell of some stripe.  Current operating system is Windows 7.
ALWAYS wanted an Apple computer, but they are usually so much more expensive, have always heard really good things about them, especially that they are not as prone to getting virus infections, HOPE THIS IS TRUE.
    Anyway, last night, been ill, taking Vicodin and got to feeling much better I guess, because I purchased the following;
    Apple MacBook Core2Duo 2.13Ghz 2GB RAM 160GB HD 13" MC240LL/A
Not a bad price, $329.99 and free shipping.
    Model:
    MC240LL/A
    Description:
    MacBook 13.3inch
    CPU:
    Intel Core 2 Duo 2.13GHz
    RAM:
    2GB
    Hard Drive:
    160GB SATA 5400-rpm Hard Drive
    Optical Drive:
    Super Drive
    Networking:
    Built-in 10/100/1000BASE-T Gigabit Ethernet (RJ-45 connector); Built-in AirPort Extreme Wi-Fi wireless networking (based on an IEEE 802.11n specification); IEEE 802.11a/b/g compatible;
    Operating System:
    OSx Leopard (10.5) Installed
    Video:
13.3-inch (diagonal) LED-backlit glossy widescreen display with support for millions of colors (1280 x 800)
I am taking it for granted, that I can use my regular wireless router in my home with it, that I can download at least some of the programs I am accustomed to using (my present computer, had it for 4 years, bought it used, it starting to act flaky, last time this happened, within 3 months the thing died,) that the GENERAL / OVERALL way you use a Mac is at least similar to using a Windows based unit?  What I am hoping for is taking it out of the box, plugging it up and "clicking" on icons to navigate around?
Any advice for a brand new user?
    Thanks!

You have the model 5,2 Mid 2009 MacBook http://www.everymac.com/systems/apple/macbook/specs/macbook-core-2-duo-2.13-whit e-13-mid-2009-nvidia-specs.html It can run OS 10.9 Mavericks.
The 10.6 Snow Leopard DVD is in the Apple online store. You can get it for $19.99. http://store.apple.com/us/product/MC573/mac-os-x-106-snow-leopard After you’ve installed that then download the 10.6.8 combo updater to finish it off. http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1399 You will need to be running 10.6.8 to access the App Store to order Lion, Mountain Lion or Mavericks which are downloads only.
    System Requirements for 10.6:
Mac computer with an Intel processor
    1GB of memory
    5GB of available disk space
    DVD drive for installation
Some features require a compatible internet service provider: fees may apply.
The model 5,2 (Mid 2009, 2.13GHz Model Only) can use 6gb of 200 pin 800mhz PC2-6400 RAM.  These are good online stores for Mac compatible RAM
OWC - http://eshop.macsales.com/shop/memory/Apple_MacBook/White/2.13GHz - They offer Mac tested RAM at very good prices.
Crucial Memory http://www.crucial.com/ - good place to buy RAM from all over the world. They also have an excellent memory selector that allows you to choose memory based on your computer's model
Data Memory Systems http://www.datamemorysystems.com/apple-memory.asp - another good, cheap place to buying RAM if you live in the U.S.

My son is in China, and I have his MacBook which is under the AppleCare extended warranty, and I've heard there is a fast "mail-in" service for repairs. (The DVD drive went kaput.)
